Amazing Salento

  • 5 of 5

We spent fantastic 6 days at this location! We rented this villa with large and deep swimming pool. The outside patios have everything necessary to relax: chaiselongs, a BBQ and a big table. We duly appreciated prompt and discrete help from our referent who made our stay really enjoyable! Thank you, Patrizia!

The area around is very interesting to explore, the sea is fantastic and the food is amazing!!!

A car is strongly advised if you come here.

Overall, it was an unforgettable holidays! We hope to come here yet again and again.

Very beautiful pictures

  • 2 of 5

We did book this villa because from the pictures and previous reviews we thought it would be a perfect choice for our holidays. Unfortunately things changed very quickly after our arrive. The pool was dirty but we were reassured somebody would come the same day to sort it out, not impressed, but OK with it. (Need to say that this gentleman arrived on Tuesday morning)

After being showed briefly around we went to the local town to restaurant for lunch and supermarket to buy groceries. On our return we realised the deep end of the pool was strangely full of wasps, but still we take a shower and get ready to have dinner

The morning after the wasps were 10 times more than the previous day. We immediately called the woman who showed us around and several hours later she came with the gardener (or supposed to be) and he started spraying anti mosquitos spray in the pool, I tried to poin out that it was an infestation of wasps not mosquitos but they didn't listen .We had to go and rent sun beds in a nearby private lido since the patio area and pool were very unsafe due to the amount of wasps, but being promised they will came back with a specialist to take care of the matter. That evening the specialist materialised in the shape of 6 citronella candles. Bit frustrated I again pointed out it wasn't a mosquitos issue it was wasps, but being told citronella is the answer

Making the story short we couldn't use the outdoor area for 4 days.Several cans of anti wasps pray and just taking our chances we decided we didn't want to leave the villa without at least one swim in the pool. BAD BAD idea. The bottom of the pool (the one you don't see when you book!!) is all broken and scruffy and we all ended up with several cuts on our toes. When on Saturday leaving the villa I showed the woman the cut on our feet and expressing my total disappointment I was told that I should have seen this from the pictures???? And then to make a complain to Julie?? Somebody we called on the second day of our stay as the one in a position to fix the problem, but clearly not. The bedrooms have just ONE side bed each, my question would be WHY?? Me and my husband and my two boys, we all need a book, glass of water, reading glasses next, but only one person per bedroom could benefit from it. Casa Monchieri is a lovely house in a panoramic position, in need of a attention from either the owners or the current management

On the pictures it did look like everything we wanted for a perfect holiday

Very beatiful!!

  • 5 of 5

Just a brief note to thank Lori and the team for a great stay here in Puglia. We loved staying at this beautiful spacious villa, the golden sand beaches and clear water which we reached in 5 minutes by car and the proximity to Manduria as well as San Pietro, Maruggia for shopping and day trips to Gallipoli and Lecce. The property has been beautifully appointed and the pool at the end of the day was fantastic to enjoy as well as family bbqs at night under the stars.

Would definitely recommend staying here and will be back in touch to book for next September for sure.

Ciao Maria,

Perfect Puglia!

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed a wonderful time in the villa. The property is just as pictured only better! Brand new, clean, spacious and contemporary fitted out to the highest of standards, a villa nothing like anything we have stayed in over the past 10 years of visiting Italy. Whilst the home provided us with complete peace and tranquility surrounded by olive trees, the beach and local shops are only 5 minute drive and the village of Manduria only a 10 minutes from the home. The home was ideally located to visit more touristy places like Gallipoli and the beautiful city of Lecce. Would visit again in a heartbeat.

Here are some great Pugliese tips where you can benefit from local information and habits!

Go for an “Espressino freddo”

Forget ristretto or double espresso’s! During summer this icecold heavenly treat is what you have to try at least once. Espressino freddo is basically an espresso in which they drop a chunk of fresh vanilla icecream. To finish off, a drop of chocolate sauce makes it all perfect. That doesn’t count for the amount of calories though. Most bars in Puglia serve a variety of Espressino freddo’s, just ask!

Puglia has hundreds of kms unspoiled coastline. A greater part of Puglian coastline is considered to be national/nature reserve with beautiful sandy beaches and clear blue waters all just a 5 minute drive from your home.

12.00 o’ clock: aperitivo-time!

A great Puglian habit: to go and have an aperitif. Just before noon (when the great siesta’s kicks in) locals gather for a chat and a drink. Usually on the (main) market square but basically anywhere you want, you can enjoy a fresh aperitif like San Bitter, Martini, Cinzano, Campari and Aperol. Now this doesn’t seem that special. True. The fun part starts when receiving the drinks! Plates full of little breadrolls, polpette (mini meat balls), chips, olives, cheeses are served during aperitif-time, with almost no extra charges (in the smaller villages). No lunch needed after having experienced this great habit.
