House in Sidmouth, East Devon, England - Close to The Byes, 5 Minutes Walk To Town Centre And 10 Minutes To The Seafront

This house is situated in an attractive row of terraced red-brick houses, set back from the road by a small front garden and a few stone steps and pathway to the front door. It is double glazed and has central heating. It is just a couple of minutes walk to the Byes, a tranquil area of parkland with the river Sid running through it, loved by strollers, cyclists, and families alike. A great place to sit and relax or take the kids to let off steam and a have a run around. The house is on 2 floors. On the ground floor is the lounge/diner, comfortably furnished with attractive fireplaces and a dining table seating six (additional chairs available). The large, well-equipped kitchen, with washing machine and dishwasher, has a range, additional seating, and french doors out on to the patio area. The cupboard under the stairs houses cleaning equipment/ironing board and has hooks for coats etc. Upstairs there are 3 bedroom - 1 Single, 1 Twin and 1 Kingsize in a huge light and airy room with view over the hills (which could accommodate an extra person on the fold-up bed that is provided). There is also a bathroom with bath (shower in the bath), toilet and basin. Outside to the rear of the house is an attractive patio area with table and chairs (and umbrella) and a raised grassed area. On street parking is readily available in nearby roads.

Why Liz Dore chose Sidmouth

We just love Sidmouth - the Regency Seafront that has changed little, the beautiful buildings and houses around the town, the fantastic selection of shops and cafes and eating places to mooch in and, of course, the lovely beaches. We have spent many a happy hour sunbathing, reading, building sandcastles and searching for crabs in the rock pools when the tide is out. It really is the English seaside at it's best. You have the best of both worlds - the seaside and the countryside and if you like walking, as we do, there are many walks to enjoy. As with any thriving seaside town, Sidmouth gets busy in the summer but you can always find a little spot somewhere for some peace and quiet or to watch the world go by - perhaps on a bench in the Byes or in Connaught Gardens above Jacobs Ladder.

What makes this house unique

We love our house in Sidmouth and hope that you do too. It really is our home-from-home and we relax as soon as we open the front door. It is a light and airy house with enough space both upstairs and downstairs to suit the whole family. We love cooking and entertaining here so we have stocked the kitchen cupboards with all the utensils and equipment that we think you'll need while you are here. The little garden outside is a real sun trap and so is a lovely place to eat 'al fresco'.

Location

Coast/Beach:

Sidmouth beach runs from Salcombe Hill (at the Byes end of the town, near the play park, swimming pool etc), westwards to Jacob's Ladder which takes you up by slope or a steep white staircase to the beautiful Connaught Gardens and a tea shop with fantastic views. Much of the beach is shingle but when the tide is low, a sandy area appears just before the Millennium Walkway and a huge area of rock pools is uncovered that is great fun to explore.

Travel:

Honiton is the nearest railway station (6 miles away) and Exeter Airport is 10 miles away. The bus service from Sidmouth is very reliable and will take you into Exeter, Honiton, Seaton and elsewhere. The nearest bus stop is very close to the house. You do not need a car to get around Sidmouth - everything is within easy walking distance.

Distances:

Sidmouth town centre is a 5 minute walk from the house and Exeter is approx 30 mins by car or 50 minutes by bus. Sidmouth is a great place to explore Dorset (the world famous Lyme Regis is 30 mins by car, other parts of Devon (Minehead is under 2 hours by car) or Cornwall (you can be in Truro in just over 2 hours).

Further Details:

Sidmouth town centre has a wide selection of cafes, restaurants, pubs, supermarkets and individual food shops. It also has lovely gift shops, craft shops and clothes shops as well as banks, chemists, an independent book shop and a renowned department store. At the top the town (a very short walk from the house) is a cinema and the town also has a leisure centre (with swimming pool), the Manor Pavillion Theatre (which puts on productions throughout the year and has weekly change of productions during the summer), an outdoor play park, pitch and putt, tennis courts and a museum. You can also watch cricket, rugby, croquet and bowls. In the summer months, the Sidmouth Town Band performs on a weekly basis in Connaught Gardens and, of course, there is the world famous Folk Festival that is held in Sidmouth during the first week in August.

Notes on accommodation: There is no dedicated parking but free on-street parking is available in nearby roads. Sorry but no pets are allowed. Outside: There is an attractive, sunny patio area with table and 4 chairs and umbrella and use of BBQ. There is an additional small grassed area via some steep stone steps. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen, towels will be provided. Property is cleaned between lettings. If staying for a fortnight, the towels/linen will be changed halfway through stay. Please bring your own beach towels. Other: Spiral staircase on 1st floor to loft - no access for guests.

A lovely holiday home in Sidmouth

My daughters and my second visit to this very comfortable and very well kept house, it was like coming home. It has all the facilities necessary and has a really welcoming feel. It is also convenient to the beach and the town, just a few minutes walk. The owners are very easy to access and very helpful and friendly.. I certainly hope to stay there again next year and would recommend this property to family and friends alike.

Beautiful and convenient home

Dealing with the owner was a breeze and she couldn't have been more helpful.

The house is wonderful, beautifully furnished and so well equipped.

Beds and furnishings were very comfortable and lots of interesting books, dvds and games supplied.

Really convenient for a quick walk into town or to the beach.

I hope that we will be back very soon.

Amazing Holiday Home

We've visited Sidmouth many times over the years but I can honestly say this is the best property we have stayed in. It is a comfortable, spacious & stylish house and feels more like a family home than a holiday let. The artwork is amazing. The beds are very comfortable. As a keen cook I was very impressed with the well equipped kitchen including a fab coffee maker, the owners had left an amazing welcome pack including coffee for the maker, really nice biscuits and other goodies.

There is also a great collection of books to peruse if the weather isn't great. We were lucky and had lovely weather meaning we could eat breakfast and our evening meal outside in the lovely courtyard garden. Can't recommend this property enough, the owners were so helpful with our questions on booking and prior to our arrival. Can't wait for next year and will be booking very soon.
