Apartment La Cala de Mijas, Costa del Sol, Spain - 50 Metres From Beach, Beautiful Mature Gardens With Large Pool And Kiddies Pool

First floor 3 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment. Large pool with quiet Palm tree filled gardens. Underground secure parking. Sleeps up to 8 people. Short walk to Bars, cafes, park with playground, supermarkets, restaurants. The property is in a quiet complex totalling about 75 apartments. The reason we bought here is it's location, nice and quiet at night time but only a few minutes walk to all the bars and restaurants you could want. There is a lidl supermarket very close by with a bakery, fish mongers, butcher counter and all the fresh goods you could want if you like to cook while in holidays. The beach is only 50metres from the pool and at night you can hear the waves breaking from the balcony if you're sitting there having a quiet drink. We have broadband and all the satellite channels installed in the apartment.

We have 4 children,3 girls 3,6,13years of age and a newborn son. we bought the apartment about 12years ago. We are from Dublin in Ireland and now live about 30 mins north of Dublin in County Meath. We use the apartment for our own holidays and love spending time there with the kids.

Why wayne dowling chose La Cala de Mijas

We bought this property because it ticked all our boxes. It is 30 second walk to the beach. It has a lovely pool surrounded by beautifully manicured gardens with a baby pool. It has all the amenities very close by including a park with a large playground and cafe bar for the adults while the kids tire themselves out!. Lots of nice restaurants,shops, bars only a couple of minutes stroll away. The town is a 5-10minute walk away and this has a further selection of restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, shops etc.

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment sleeps up to 8 and has a cot aswell. There is secure underground parking for those who like to rent a car. Its quiet at night....no lager louts screaming down the street at 4am. The kids can't escape from the pool area if you happen to reading a book and take your eyes off them for a second. The closest beach bar does amazing mojitos 3 minutes walk from the pool. The apartment has all the comforts of home. It has a nice big balcony overlooking the pool and gardens and its great to sit out in the evening and have a nice glass of wine. The location is about mid way between Marbella (15mins) and Feungirola (10 mins) away. The is large selection of Golf courses in the surrounding areas. The beach has lots of activities available,including: jet skis, pedalos, banana boats etc.

Notes on accommodation: Please note due to new Spanish pool safety laws require a lifeguard to be present whenever the pool is open. The pool opens from April 1st to October 30th 2016. April and October have limited amount of hours per day as it is not peak season. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and bed linen are included (Beach towels not included). Apartment is cleaned before and after each letting. Extra towels and linen can be supplied during your stay for a small fee.

Perfect family holiday

Apartment was in the best location and opposite a great restaurant (El Olivo). Everything was in walking distance and the buzzy little town didn't disappoint and provided plenty of choices for food and drink. Definitely would recommend this place if you are like us and prefer not to worry about hiring a car. Water park is a short taxi ride away too.

Great apartment

This was a great apartment in a charming town. Great for a break with friends, ample space and a nice pool to enjoy. The apartment was well-equipped and comfortable. The best thing was the location, it was ideal for walking to the beach and into town for a drink and a meal in the evening! Plenty of lovely restaurants and bars nearby to enjoy!

Apartment was good but unfortunately it is on the wrong side of the complex for the sun,which would be nice if you where there in the summer but unfortunately we were not which ment it was cold.

Home from Home was our experience

Our apartment was situated 50 metres from La Cala beach - how good was that - we (all the adults in the apartment) were up at 8.30 am each morning to walk the La Cala Boardwalk all the way to the Calahonda Seaside resort - absolutely breathtakingly scenery all the way. We were so close to our local amenities - Casa Juan Y Mari Bar (best chips and pils pils prawns in town) - 50 metres from the only bakery in town (open daily 8.30 am to 8.30pm) - 50 metres from one of the two chemists in town. This apartment had all the amenities any one could possibly desire from brilliant power showers(2) to a very cool balcony where one can enjoy a quiet drink - I could not fault this apartment nor its prime location - I will definitely be back next Easter - can't wait

Special interest holidays:

Gibraltar is a easy drive about an hour away. Puerto Banus and Marbella are easily accessible by bus, Taxi, Car for those who like an energetic night life. There are lots of attractions a short drive away including tivoli world, crocodile park, selwo marine world, Marbella buggy safari is based in la cala, numerous golf courses, bike rental. There is a new go karting track less than 10 mins drive away. I highly recommend it. They have fast new karts for the adults, great karts for the 10 and overs and duel control cars for the adults who want to take the smaller kids out for a thrill.


Beach is about 50m away. This is a blue flag beach with nice beach bars and sun beds. Life guards patrol the beach during high season.


Malaga airport is the closest airport about 25mins drive away. We get the train directly from the airport to Fuengirola and then its 10-15 in a taxi to La Cala.
