About the property

Luxury accommodation with beautiful views - close to River Cottqge HQ

The cottage is a delightful Grade II listed thatched cottage dating from about 1700 with two bedrooms. Sympathetically and tastefully renovated in 2014 to provide luxury accommodation for 3 and one well behaved dog. Muted Farrow and Ball tones of grey reflect the Blue Lias stone of the Jurassic Coast. Cobb Cottage is just a mile and a half from Axmouth, 2 miles to the sea at Seaton and the sea front. The River Axe babbles 300 yards down the road and River Cottage HQ is over the hill about 3 miles away. The cottage is ideally suited for exploring all the Jurassic Coast has to offer including lovely walks, pubs and restaurants, beaches and antique hunting. It is close to the historic towns of Honiton and Exeter and is easily reached from the M5 motorway and there is a direct train to London hourly from Axminister which is a couple of miles away. There are walks from right outside the door and a wonderful farm shop at Kilmington about 3 miles away which stocks everything from local fruit, veg meat and fish and shellfish along with imported French Cheese and local crafts. Charmouth and Lyme Regis are about 8 and 5 miles away respectively and provide beautiful beach walks. Closer by are the villages of Beer and Branscombe and on a sunny summer day Beer has beautifully clear bathing and fishing trips. The list of things to do is endless and at the end of a hard day exploring what better way to relax than to loaf on the deck in the garden with a glass of wine from the wine fridge and watch the sun go down over the Devon countryside. About Nicola Moore

We renovated our cottage to have lovely weekends on the Jurassic Coast enjoying the wonderful walks, country life, sea air and amazing variety of old pubs and new eateries such as the River Cottage and Mark Hix in Lyme Regis.

This is truly a cottage for all seasons being equally suited to enjoying the summer in the garden or cosying by the woodburner on cold winter evenings in the beamed living room with original flagstones which even have little fossils in them.

Nicola Moore purchased this cottage in 2014

Stunningly pretty cottage, in lovely area

  • 5 of 5

We were fortunate enough to spend five nights at this lovely cottage in May, and found it a little hard to leave at the end of our stay! The cottage is in superb condition, it is clear that the owners have put a great deal of thought, effort and money in to the property over recent years, and they seem to have thought of everything to have made our stay as enjoyable and relaxing as possible, truly a home from home.

We found the location equally as impressive, surrounded by glorious farmland, but with the coast only a few minutes drive away. A pub and small shop both just a minutes walk, and with a further selection of pubs and shopping nearby.

I really cannot praise this property enough!

Owner's Response: We are delighted that our guests love the cottage as much as we do! It is supposed to be home from home and we keep a close eye on things to make sure standards are as high now as when the cottage was renovated three years ago.

Lovingly Restored Cottage

  • 4 of 5

We (German couple plus dog) spent wonderful two weeks in this beutiful little cottage, which has really been lovingly restored by its owners. After exploring the gorgeous Jurassic Coast an its several hiking paths as well as hiking many paths through Dartmore National Park, we enjoyed the tranquil evenings, sitting in the garden, having BBQ. We would recommend this property to friends or relatives. Furthermore, the nearby pub (Golden Hind) and the gas-station with small but well equiped supermarket are an advantage.

Owner's Response: We thank you for your review and are glad you enjoyed your stay. I see we only got four stars which is obviously disappointing as we would like to have known what it was that fell short of your expectations

Beautiful Cottage

  • 5 of 5

The owners have lovingly restored this cottage keeping all it's old charm blended with modern technology. Everything you need and more for a relaxing and chilled holiday. Breakfast on the decking in October with a wonderful view, you couldn't ask for more. Welcome pack on arrival was really appreciated, even treats for our dog :). Well worth a visit, we will definitely go back. Thanks

Owner's Response: We are glad you had a lovely stay. The cottage was renovated to a standard that we would want for use ourselves rather than just as a holiday rental. It's supposed to be a home from home!
