About the Owner

Hello, my name is Paul. My wife Anna and I have lived in the area for 25 years and have 3 teenage children. Having both been born in Devon, we have enjoyed the wonderful countryside the area has to offer, which inspired us to keep sheep, chickens and ducks. Both Anna and I have horticultural backgrounds, being a landscape gardener and florist by trade. We have designed and built a number of properties including cider barn, coach house, school and more recently an oak framed log cabin which we now live in. This then inspired us to build a south facing, cedar clad, glass fronted lodge which has spectacular views, making full use of the sun. So come and join us for a wonderful holiday in this unique location – you will never want to leave!

What a Wonderful Place to Relax

  • 5 of 5

We were hoping for a week of R & R and that is what was delivered.

From the moment we turned into the drive and were greeted by chickens, ducks, lots of sheep, one lucky ram and finally Paul.

The accommodation was superb, exceptionally clean, well designed and catering for all the needs of any visitors.

Lots of little extras had been thought of, soap, shower gel, magazines, napkins, lovely fresh flowers

and there were even scones etc. to enjoy on our arrival which were very welcome.

We left feeling energised and refreshed and shall definitely be returning.

Highly recommended, you could not fail to enjoy the situation or the accommodation.

A beautiful holiday home in beautiful surroundings.

  • 5 of 5

Oak Lodge is a wonderful holiday home. Bright, spacious, extremely well equipped and tastefully decorated. The warm welcome from Paul and Anna with cream tea and local apple juice was wonderful. There are many places to visit within a short driving distance of the house, but we loved returning to the lodge at the end of each day. Our children loved the freedom of the outdoor space, the swing, the climbing ladder and the hens, chickens and ducks. They also loved walking to the pond and picking the lovely sunflowers.

A week wasn't long enough and I am very sure we will be returning, hopefully next year.

Relaxing family break

  • 5 of 5

We loved this beautiful house, so unusual but well thought out. It was immaculate and furnished to a high standard. It was a kind touch to have a welcome of cream tea. And we liked opening our curtains each morning to see the ducks and chickens wandering around outside our front door.

Paul the owner was very friendly and helpful even bringing my washing in when it rained! (We did have a baby with us) He gave us helpful advice as to places to visit with a young family. Another bonus is that he and his family live on site and are available should any problems arise.

We did like the fact the house was within easy access of Sidmouth, Exmouth and Beer and we were very well served for places to eat or food shop. Our favourite activities were Pecorama, Escot, Bicton and the beach at Exmouth. This was a young family holiday and these places provided something for everyone from our baby through to Grandad.

We thoroughly recommend this for a relaxing time with family or friends. But perhaps we shouldn't as we want to go back....

Great property and location for a week with family

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect - modern, bright, very clean - for our family of two adults and 3 kids. The owners were absolutely lovely and super helpful with anything we needed. The kids had ample space to roam around outside with the chickens and ducks on the grounds and admiring the sheep in the field.

A quick drive to walk on the commons and nearby beaches. Highly recommend the place.

The holiday home is the best equipped holiday home I've ever stayed in .The owners had gone to great lengths to ensure guest's every needs are met. There were delicious scones ,jam ,clotted cream, apple juice ,fresh bread and milk to welcome us.The accommodation itself is stunning ,bright ,comefortable , beautifully decorated ,well equipped and spotlessly clean .I really didn't want to go home it is truly a lovely holiday "home ".

Wonderful, peaceful setting with generous hosts

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the house for a week in late May / early June and enjoyed glorious Devon weather for the full week. The house catered well for our three young children and the open-plan layout downstairs worked really well. The house was clean, tidy and had everything we needed. Our boys enjoyed the outside space, especially the tree swing and the chickens & ducks. The owners, Paul and Anna, were very friendly & attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The fresh apple juice and bread on arrival were a thoughtful touch. The house is well located for the local beaches - Exmouth has great sandy beaches and Budleigh Salterton is good if you prefer a pebbled beach. The house is also just down the road from Crealy Adventure Park which is great for the kids. Overall, we had a great week and will be returning.

The property is surrounded by mature trees and is adjoining Woodbury Commons. This allows us to take lovely long walks over the heathland where nightingales and the Dartford worblers can be seen. We are centrally located which makes it easy to reach the sea at Budliegh Salterton and Exmouth as well as Sidmouth, and only 10 minutes to Exeter. There are wonderful views of Dartmoor and Exeter which can be seen from the lodge. The site enjoys sunshine all day long as it is south facing and very sheltered. The site is quiet and removed from the
