Sleeps upto 5, 2 bedroom cottage. Captain Jacks. a 1600s ex fisherman's cottage set in the heart of East Looe. Centrally located, just yards from the seafront, beach, harbour and bustling streets with numerous shops and good restaurants and pubs. Captain Jacks was completely renovated in 2010, being sympathetically refurbished, retaining its character and charm, now providing very comfortable ammenities for modern day living. A fantastic holiday home for any family wanting a beach side holiday. Many guests just park their car and don't go back to it until its time to leave as there is so much to do. We have always loved Cornwall since our childhood and just love going back year after year. Looe is ideally situated, with a lovely, safe sandy beach, lots of places close by, easily accessible, great food and friendly people.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

Both the beach and harbour are both approximately 100 yards away.

Approximate distances by road:-

Millendreath beach is 2 miles away

Fowey is 10 miles away via the ferry at Polruan.

The Eden Project is 23 miles.

Lost Gardens of Heligan is 30 miles.

The centre of Bodmin Moor is 16 miles.

Mevagissey is 30 miles away.

Polperro is 7 miles away.

Padstow is 39 miles away.

St Ives is 63 miles away.

Newquay is 36 miles.

Falmouth is 50 miles.

St Mawes is 42 miles.

Travel:

Looe train station is a 10 minute walk from the cottage which links Looe to the national network at Liskeard. Nearest airport Plymouth approximately 25 miles.

Looe is situated just off the A38 on the South Coast between Plymouth and Liskeard.

Distances:

Looe and Polperro (5 miles away) are traditional ancient Cornish fishing villages. Looe is reputed to have the freshest fish in the UK. They are both today major tourist attractions retaining a wealth of charm and character of days gone by. Easily located just off the A38, within easy reach of many visitor attractions on the Cornish Riviera, fishing, walking, site seeing, theme parks, gardens, National Trust properties, adrenalin pursuits plus many others.

Ideally located! Just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the main street, yet within 60 seconds reach where you will find all the facilities of day to day living. 2 convenience stores, a bank, dozens of various shops including chemists, jewellers, clothes shops, gift shops, pubs, restaurants, galleries, take aways of various cuisine and anything else you may need for a trouble free stay.

“POLDARK” BBC Series WOW - isn’t Cornwall Beautiful! The main locations filmed are Levant, near St Ives, approx. 70 miles away, Charlestown which is about 55 miles away and Bodmin Moor which is just up the road about 15 miles away. There are numerous Old Mining Engine Houses at Minions on Bodmin Moor besides its dramatic landscape and there is the Hurlers Stone Circles, Ancient Burial Sites. There are also any beautiful cliff tops and coves within a few minutes drive from Looe, equalling those captured by the BBC whilst filming Poldark.

From the Owner

We can park the car and leave it for the whole week whilst we relax and unwind. On visiting Looe we still, numerous years later,have not seen and done everything that is available to do within the walking distance of the cottage. Year on year a little more seems to be added or another event organised within its annual calendar. We can't recommend Looe enough!

  • Notes on accommodation: Parking Permit is included with allocated space at Millpool Car Park which represents a saving of at least £30 of parking charges per week. Arrival and departure drop off is permitted outside the cottage. There are no coin meters in the property as all utilities are provided at no extra cost. All bedlinen, towels and tea towels are provided. Please note towels are not for beach use. Sorry No Pets are allowed Non Smoking Property Outside: There is a foldaway table and chairs that can be used to front of the property if desired.
