Easily accessible by car, coach or train from Lisbon or Porto airports, Sao Martinho and its surrounds offer both sporting and sight-seeing opportunities. Why Penny Mitchell chose Alcobaca

We love Sao Martinho do Porto - there is such an amazing variety of things to do here. The Silver Coast area is famous for its beautiful beaches, quaint fishing villages, and watersports particularly at Foz d’Arelho, and Peniche, a short drive down the coast. The lagoon and Roman fort at Óbidos are a great day out; as is the nearby fishing town of Nazaré. Coimbra, Fátima, the abbeys at Batalha and Alcobaça, and the headquarters of the Knights Templars at Tomar are all within striking distance. Golf courses are available at Praia D'El Rey within 25 mins drive, Rio Maior, Vimeiro or Peniche are within 40 mins drive.

What makes this apartment unique

The poolside apartments are 50 metres from the beach, with cafes, shops and restaurants on the doorstep. We provide sun loungers and dining furniture for the sunny, west-facing terraces. A car is not essential but if you have one there is a designated spot for each apartment in the secure underground car park. Air conditioning units provide cooling in summer or heating in winter if needed.

Coast/Beach:

With a shell shaped bay, Sao Martinho do Porto is the most known beach of Alcobaca. It is absolutely safe, what makes it a children's paradise.

Opposite to it's neighbour and "rival", Nazare, which in summer is invaded by thousands of popular people, Sao Martinho do Porto attracts some rather aristocratic dwellers, but in summer, like most of the other beaches around, it's always time of crowds and animation.

Travel:

Sao Martinho is easily accessed by car from Lisbon airport (1 hour) or Porto (2 hours drive). The bus from Lisbon is 1.5 hours, leaving from Sete Rios station in Lisbon. The number 2 bus goes directly to Sete Rios station from the airport. The train is a longer journey (3 hours).

A car isn't necessary as the village is very close by and is perfect for exploring on foot.

If you plan to travel further afield, a car is helpful, but there are local buses and trains available if you wish.
