Apartment in Whitby, North Yorkshire Moors, England - Right By The Harbour And Amongst The Shops Of Whitby Old Town

From the roof terrace look down on the crowds and venture out for an evening stroll along Church Street to the famous Abbey steps, or down to Tate Sands, below the Abbey, where Dracula's ship was wrecked. When the bell rings go out with a drink to watch the bridge opening and the yachts going out to sea and the fisherman returning with their catch in the evening. If there's a better spot in Whitby to watch the world go by I've yet to find it and I've been visiting for over 50 years!

A light spacious flat with art work on the walls and a cosy dining/ living room. Sorry but not suitable for dogs. Young children will need supervision on the roof terrace. You can see the view of the Swing Bridge from the roof terrace here:

Cosy, comfortable flat in a perfect location.

This was our second stay in this flat. We liked it so much last time that we couldn't wait to return. The many attractions of Whitby are, literally, moments away; this makes it easy to pop in and out of the flat during the day between walks and visiting museums etc. Day and night we sat on the roof terrace with our hot mugs of coffee as there was always something to see. The terrace is fantastic.

We were unexpectedly lucky with the weather - it was dry but cold. However, the flat was warm and cosy. Whitby is lovely at any time of year and I'd be happy staying in this flat regardless of the time of year.

Access to the flat is straightforward. Car parking is close by and despite the central location we had no problem dropping off luggage outside the door. John, the owner, has always been very easy to deal with too. We will definitely stay again and I would not hesitate to recommend to friends.

Le Vivier

Great location, great apartment.

Very sadly, time only allowed us to book 2 nts however, we have really enjoyed our stay. Arrival and entry instructions were easy. Apartment, clean, tidy and comfortable, location great and the roof terrace is the icing on the cake. It was due to rain but the sun won the day and we sat out for breakfast and lunch.

Couldn't fault it in any way and would definitely come back to this place again. Many thanks.

As promised the best location inTown!!

First time visitors to Whitby but John's information re location & parking on arrival was very helpful! The apartment was well equipped with a very homely layout. The bonus for us was the location and the rooftop patio area where we spent a lot of time watching the time go by slowly.Plenty places to eat and drink within a few minutes stroll. First time visitors,but already planning next visits!

Perfect location and the view is beautiful!

We stayed for two nights and were delighted with our stay here. It was the perfect location and in the centre of town. The views from the roof terrace were stunning and we had beautiful weather! The home was much bigger than the pictures show. Plenty of room for two couples and would also suit a family. We would definitely stay here again and will recommend to friends and family!

Perfect. All Whitby has to offer is moments away.

Whatever you are looking for you'll find it within in minutes of leaving the door of this wonderful flat - within 1-15 minutes you can reach any of the sights Whitby is famous for (199 steps, piers, harbour, beaches, quaint streets, museums etc.). In fact, you don't even need to leave if you don't want to because the roof terrace provides the most wonderful panoramic views of the harbour with all it's comings and goings (you can even hear the steam train chugging into the station). I particularly loved sitting on the terrace very early in the morning and late at night - a perfect way to start and end the day.

The flat is well laid out. It is clean, comfortable and very relaxing. The kitchen is well equipped but there are many restaurants and cafes only minutes away if you prefer to eat out or buy ready prepared food. Parking is very close by too and we found unloading/loading the car very easy.

John, the owner, was great to deal with and very responsive. The flat was easy to find and entry very straightforward. All in all, I would definitely recommend this property and would also stay again without hesitation.

Whitby break.

Had a lovely time staying here. The flat was lovely and cosy and clean. You couldn't get a better location. We had wonderful weather and so managed to make good use of the roof terrace. I'd like to thank John for his quick response to the e mails I sent. This was out first time staying in Whitby but I'm sure it won't be our last. As so many thing to do and places to see that we didn't get around to( we were to busy chillin on the terrace).

I've been coming to Whitby for over 50 years and always wanted a bolthole here, so when we saw that this flat with possibly the best location and view in Whitby was for sale we knew we had to have it!

Activity and Interests


Two minutes walk along to the sheltered beach of Tate Hill Sands where Dracula's boat landed! Five minutes walk across the Swing Bridge to the west side of the river and along to the wide open expanse of Whitby Sands which stretches 2 miles all the way to Sandsend.


The main roads to and from Whitby are the A171 and A169. The Whitby train station is approximately 500 yards from the cottage, about a five minute walk, taxis available. A car is not necessary as all facilities are within easy walking distance. Nearest airport is Durham Tees Valley (Teesside) at 45 miles, approximately 1.5 hours by car.


Robin Hood's Bay 6 miles.

Scarborough 20 miles.

York 60 miles.

Further Details:

A varied selection of cafes, restaurants, shops and bars all within easy walking distance. Steam railway station approx. 5 minutes walk, museum 5 minutes walk, Abbey and 199 steps 10 minute walk through beautiful cobbled streets with individual gift shops and coffee shops to visit en route

Changeover Day:
We are flexible on changeover days for short breaks EXCEPT SATURDAYS. Normally we expect week long bookings in the high season, Friday to Friday. Please contact us for other days. Short breaks available all year outside of busy holiday periods.

Notes on prices:

  • Outside: The large decking has one of the best views in Whitby and despite overlooking the town is not overlooked itself! The decking has safety railings around it, which do not disturb the view. There is a large storage unit outside on the decking which contains chairs and a barbecue. Utility Room: Small room with vacuum cleaner. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen and tea towels included, and one hand towel. Please bring own bath/beach towels. Property is professionally cleaned and linen changed after each guest. Special occasion requirements can be catered for with a personal touch.
