Penpraze is a delightful detached period cottage dating back to the early 1800’s situated in the quiet hamlet of Mena on the outskirts of Goss Moor Nature Reserve which is a Special Area of Conservation and SSSI. This granite and slate roofed cottage offers spacious and flexible accommodation offering numerous character features which include exposed stonework, stripped wooden floorboards, high vaulted ceilings with exposed beams and trusses and 2 wood-burning stoves. The accommodation can suit 2 families providing 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, large farmhouse kitchen with oil fired AGA, beamed lounge, games room, WiFi and Internet TV’s. The quiet rural hamlet of Mena is virtually equidistant from both north and south coasts providing access to some beautiful sandy beaches and fishing villages such as Mevagissey on the south coast and the wonderful rugged cliff top walks and excellent surfing/bathing beaches along the north coast such as Watergate Bay. Both can be easily reached in 15 mins and the Eden Project in 10. The peace and tranquillity of Penpraze by the Moor provides a perfect environment for those who enjoy a peaceful rural surrounding and life style, whilst also making it ideal for those looking for a bolthole/holiday home in order to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Local villages provide, pubs and supermarket facilities so it is very easy to get away from it all.

Notes on accommodation: Please note that we also provide temporary stair-gates in addition to the travel cot and high chair if you have young children. Please let us know if required. Outside: Penpraze is approached over an unmade but well metalled private road which provides access and sufficient parking area for one car on the right hand side and a driveway providing off-road parking for up to four vehicles. The garden is mainly lawn, southerly facing, with Cornish walling and hedging. There is a deck, garden furniture and BBQ area for al-fresco dining. There are many other areas around the garden to enjoy the rural views and tranquillity of Mena. Utility Room: Large room with Butler sink, Washing Machine, Tumble dryer, plenty of space for boots and jackets. Additional storage during stay. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen, towels and tea towels are included (please bring your own beach towels). The property is presented with beds made up as required. If additional cleaning/ linen change is required during your stay this can be pre-booked with our caretaker. Other: Large Games Room with 6x3 pool table, table football, darts and various boardgames. South facing conservatory with settle for those sunny Cornish days.

Perfect Country Getaway

We Stayed at Penpraze for our Honeymoon in March & Although the weather was not perfect the cottage definitely did not disappoint.

The whole cottage is beautifully decorated and very spacious, the Kitchen really has the wow factor with the aga which was fantastic to cook food on and also kept the large room lovely and warm. The main bathroom felt very luxurious with a free standing bath and large shower. The bedrooms are extremely comfortable with very cosy duvets and pillows.

The entire cottage was spotlessly clean and had a friendly, happy feel with a tea tray ready made.

Every little detail shows the love and care that has gone into preparing this beautiful house for guests.

We really Loved our time spent in Cornwall staying at Penpraze cottage and would 100% recommend staying here to both family and friends.

Fabulous stay!

My family and I stayed at Penpraze for 7 nights from 23.12.16. We had a fantastic stay and cannot recommend this property highly enough!

My family (3 adults, 2 children) flew from Australia to spend their first Christmas with my partner and I in the UK. We had decided to stay in Cornwall and wanted to find a property with a traditional feel, in the countryside but close to all of Cornwall's sites.

On arrival we were over awed by the effort David had put in to dress the house for this special occasion. Not only was there a beautifully decorated Xmas tree; throughout the house little touches were included to make the whole space feel festive and inviting. We thought the photos on the Owners Direct website looked great but what we found far surpassed the pictures!

On entry there is a large kitchen/ dining area with Aga plus conventional oven (which was a welcome relief as we are not experienced Aga users and had a large turkey to cook!). On from the kitchen there is a small but lovely conservatory, opening on to the beautiful garden, equipped with a play area for kids. The main lounge/ living space is very large and bookended by open fireplaces. Ample and comfortable sofas and armchairs, plus a dining table. We used one fireplace which warmed the whole house and provided a cosy atmosphere. To the left of the lounge is a small single bedroom, which was perfect for my mother. Upstairs a large double bedroom and bathroom (with shower, tub and wc) and another large room with 2 single beds- perfect for a family with small children needing to sleep close by.

Adjacent to the kitchen is another wing, which includes a games room (with pool table and dart board) and a large bedroom with 2 single beds. A shower room with wc, plus utility room (washing machine, dryer, freezer and ironing facilities) is also located here. Upstairs is a large double bedroom with wardrobe and great views. We found the layout of the house perfect for a large group of people staying together but still needing their own space.

The house is perfectly located next to a farm; it was great waking up to cows in the morning! The housekeeper (Anne) could not have been more helpful, giving advice about rubbish collection and selling firewood at much cheaper rates than in town.

We took a number of day trips and realised Penpraze is ideally located to travel to anywhere in Cornwall.

Thank you Dave for a wonderful stay- we will be back!

My family and I have enjoyed a wonderful week at Penpraze where we welcomed 2016 and celebrated my son's 30th Birthday.

What a brilliant place to have a big family get together. The setting could not have been more perfect the cottage was thoughtfully dressed for Christmas and the Welcome Pack much appreciated.

The cottage is full of character, the kitchen with the ever warm Aga very much the heart of the home and with the table moved over also the venue for my 3 little granddaughters nightly" disco " !!

The Cornish weather was not kind to us but spending our days in the cottage was not a problem 3 generations were entertained with the toys and games for the younger ones and Darts, Bar Football and Pool available for the older kids!

The kitchen was fully equipped so preparing meals for a large number was not an issue. Provision of cot, high chairs and stairgates meant that valuable space could be saved in the car.

Dave was very helpful only a phone call or text away for any questions or queries regarding the property and thank you to the caretaker who kindly put up some 30th decorations prior to our arrival.

Will definitely be returning.

Great base for fab holiday

Lovely cottage. Very comfortable and well equipped. Well placed to reach both coasts and places of interest. Recommend Eden Project, Minack Theatre, St Ives, Padstow and Lost Gardens of Heligan. Only cautionery note is that 5th bedroom, which one of our party of 6 adults was going to use, is only suitable for small child as bed is very high bunk bed. Would happily return.

went with a group of friends for a birthday celebration. we had a fantastic time. flew from Dublin - very easy access from Exeter airport to Mena. Hired a car which was very reasonable and easy to find the house. the house is beautiful, lovely gardens, lots of space, wonderful open fires and spacious kitchen area. Bedrooms were very comfortable and lots of wardrobe space. the area is beautiful, lots to see and do. would highly recommend Mevagissey, the Eden Project and Jamie Oliver Fifteen restaurant for breakfast which overlooked the amazing Watergate Bay. Such a relaxing break in a stunning setting.

Myself, my husband and 4 friends spent the most amazing 5 days in this beautiful cottage. We said goodbye to 2014 and hello to 2015. We flew into Bristol as it was so much cheaper then flying into Exeter, we picked up a hire car and drove to Penpraze, following Dave's brilliant directions, the journey took us about 1.45hrs but it was an easy drive. Penpraze is a delightful cottage with everything you could possibly need, the welcome pack which was left for us was just what we needed to get us started, it was a lovely thought. The owners had even put up a christmas tree for us. The cottage was cosy but spacious at the same time, even though the rooms are large they feel cosy and warm. The wood burner in the living room was lovely to sit around and just enjoy the relaxing evenings. The bedrooms, with there comfy beds are tastefully decorated. The cottage is located ideally for visiting all the beautiful beaches and fishing villages. We spent our days walking on the beaches and discovering the little villages and our evenings playing pool and relaxing. We walked across the public path to St. Dennis where we had a lovely evening in the local pub. Our stay in Cornwall was brilliant and the cottage was the perfect place to stay, we will definately be back to visit again and will recommend Penpraze to all our family and friends.

Notes on prices:
Prices are for the property per week in UK pounds. Short breaks are available out of season indicated by 3 or 4 night minimum stay. Please enquire about reductions for smaller parties outside of the main season. We charge an additional £25 for 1 dog and £40 for two dogs for a week's stay.
