Thatched Cottage In Farway, Over Looking Pond And Wildlife Garden

Updated: 20-Oct-2016
Cottage in Farway, Near Honiton, East Devon, England - Peaceful Location, Adjacent To The East Devon Way (Footpath)

Tedbridge is an enchantingly pretty, stone a thatch cottage, set in the midst of delightful wildlife and water gardens. All rooms are sunny and light, and face south with views over the ponds.

The house was built around 1700, and there is an inglenook fire place in the sitting room, and a similar feature in the kitchen. Before the days of en suite bathrooms, it was considered a luxury to have a hand basin in each bedroom and Tedbridge has retained this quaint tradition.

The property is set in the simply stunning scenery of the East Devon AONB. The grounds cover 3 acres and are designed to promote wildlife and provide a peaceful haven for human beings. This is an ideal location for walkers, bird watchers, and all those with an interest in wildlife and natural gardening.

Wonderful Tedbridge

  • 5 of 5

Dear Kairen, thanks for your email. We had a lovely time and all 4 of us thought Tedbridge a very special place. We will almost certainly return!

We made full use of all the facilities, which were as described and we found lovely walks, pubs and beaches near by. We also enjoyed helping out with the ducks!

Thanks so much, also for your hospitality.

All the best for now

The Picture Postcard comes to life .

A perfect hideaway. Kairen was a perfect host - the friendly emails , the excellent welcome pack and the warm reception. The house and setting was amazing. Comfortable beds, wonderful linen, 2 bathrooms, superbly equipped kitchen. The cottage was spotless and with plenty of room to spread out and equally living and dining areas for different occasions. We entertained visiting friends for lunch , my wife baked our daughter's birthday cake and when we were not tempted by the great restaurants, cafes and pubs in the local area we self catered in style.

The gardens and ponds were the main focus of our stay - they must be some of the most photographed ducks in Devon. Feeding the ducks , talking to Oak !! and Phred the Pheasant was a daily pleasure.

If you are looking for peace and tranquilty , comfort and care look no further.

We will definitely return.

Countryside retreat

  • 4 of 5

We spent 4 days at Tedbridge at Whitsun. A beautiful and spotless house deep in the countryside with a large garden and 2 lakes on the East Devon Way. Kairen was a thoughtful host, who provided an excellent welcome pack. The boys loved the boat and feeding the ducks and pheasant in the evening. We explored Sidmouth, Honiton, Exmouth and Exeter from this comfortable base and would recommend to anyone.
