Cottage in Southwold, Suffolk, England - A Stones Throw From The Beach And Around 3 Minutes Walk To The Town

Lighthouse View in Southwold is a comfortable and welcoming holiday cottage sleeping four people in two bedrooms. This early-Victorian cottage is by St.James' Green in the very heart of this attractive coastal town. From the front door it is just yards to the promenade and sea.

Not only does Lighthouse View offer an excellent holiday location but Southwold's landmark lighthouse stands just over the wall of the cottage's rear courtyard. The fully-operational lighthouse is accessed from nearby Stradbroke Road and is open on certain dates for visitors to climb up to the top to enjoy the wonderful views. Children (and perhaps adults) will be captivated by the gentle rotation of the lights from the lighthouse in the evening.

Car parking is freely available in the immediate area. Indeed you may park your car on arrival and not use it again throughout your stay.

Owners Russ and Sue are happy to share their delightful cottage with holidaymakers who would love to experience this wonderful location in the charming town of Southwold. Children over 4 years are welcome as is one well-behaved dog.

For the young and the young at heart this super seaside cottage has so much to offer.

Perfectly located home from home.

  • 5 of 5

This lovely holiday home is in a perfect location. There is the novelty of it being directly outside/under the lighthouse but it is also a stones throw from the sea front. I enjoyed early morning walks every day we were there.

Inside is lovely, well decorated with sea themed decor.

It has all you could need for you're holiday stay.

If you are disabled or have mobility issues the stairs could be difficult but other than that no problems.

There is no parking included but the on street parking wasn't a problem.

We will be back and will recommend to anyone wanting to visit Southwold.

LIGHTHOUSE VIEW, SOUTHWOLD. JUST THE JOB.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was everything we wanted for our week by the sea. The thoughtful renovation has retained much of the cottage character but with all mod cons added. The shower scored 10/10, press one button and it's perfect. The kitchen is very well equipped for folk who like to cook and the dishwasher leaves you free to enjoy your holiday. The double bed is very comfortable and there is a new bath in the room too. One of the things we liked was the closeness to many of the highlights in Southwold, beach, pier, pubs, shop etc. We walked everywhere, apart from a day at Aldeburgh. The owners were friendly and also very quick to help with any questions. If you do stay here, do remember to go into the back yard after dark, the lighthouse will have you transfixed.

Fantastic Location - Wonderful Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We were visiting friends and family in the area & decided to stay in Southwold as this was a place we had visited many, many times but never stayed in. We were a party of 4, older couple with daughter & son-in-law travelling from Scotland. We were very lucky to manage to book the cottage for the week over Easter 2016, the rate for the cottage increased slightly but was very reasonable and we were happy to book at the price.

We received all the helpful instructions from the owners and we gained access to the cottage at the allotted time - once inside we were immersed into an old coastal fisherman's cottage - small but perfectly laid out, comfortable with many modern facilities.

The kitchen is compact but fully functional - cooker, hob, dishwasher, washing machine - this area leads out to the enclosed patio area - unfortunately the weather wasn't good enough for us to enjoy this area but I reckon this would be a lovely area to spend quiet time in good weather.

The dining room & lounge are well laid out and very comfortable.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms and the shower/toilet - be warned, the stairs are steep and quite narrow - but this was expected due to the age of the property. The master bedroom has a free standing bath in it and views to the green outside, the twin bedroom looks out onto the lighthouse behind the property.

We enjoyed the whole week we stayed in the property, without any problems - the heating is easily controlled and the house remained warm & cosy in all weathers. The whole cottage was a joy to stay in and I would not hesitate re-booking this property the next time I visit the area.

Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

A super little cottage in a perfect spot in Southwold. An ideal base for our small family - kids loved the view of the Lighthouse from their bedroom window! Very cosy and well equipped. Ticks all boxes for the family with great proximity to beach and pier, shops, Adnams brewery and Sole Bay Inn! Easy parking right outside. Books, games, DVDs available if you are cottage bound. Shower room is fab and a free standing bath in the master bedroom provides a touch of luxury. We loved our stay at Lighthouse View!

Location

From the Owner

After much dreaming over the last 10 years or so of owning a holiday home by the sea we finally made our dream a reality when we bought Lighthouse View in October 2013! Our whole family fell in love with the property as soon as we set foot in it - it just felt right! Our children were also mesmerised by the views of the iconic lighthouse from the rear bedroom which they have claimed!

Near the Pier find the Putting Green and the Model Yacht Pond where visitors are welcome. The Common is home to football, rugby and golf clubs, but there is plenty of space to play chase, catch a Frisbee or fly your kite.

Various long-established outdoor Fairs take place on its Greens and Common in the warmer months. In December Southwold heralds the forthcoming festive season with an evening Christmas Lights Switch-On Event on the first weekend of the month. Santa always finds time to come along too!
