About the property

Beautifull loft on the site of the Abbaye de bois aubry ,Ideal couple or familly

Believed to originate from XV, Le Grenier à Grains' connected the interior courtyard to the outdoor courtyard of the monastery'.

Lovingly restored, this gite retains interior shutters, oak lintels, tiles and stone walls. The modern kitchen is well equipped with a central island and the lounge has a small 'salon' to the side. The circular staircase leads to the mezzanine double bedroom, bathroom and second double bedroom. Here, stone and very heavy timbers revive the historic atmosphere. The spacious feel created internally is echoed outside where a private garden leads to the undercover parking space, communal space and outdoor swimming pool.

WOW!! This place is amazing!!

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a wonderful week at this beautiful place. The accommodation was clean, spacious, very well equipped and full of character. The gite is set in the stunningly beautiful grounds of the abbey which is full of history and character and has a lovely swimming pool which is perfect when wanting to cool off from the glorious sunshine that we had. Our hosts Marc and Christine couldn't have been more welcoming, showing us all the best places to go & giving us a fantastic guided tour of the abbey. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Situated in a peaceful hamlet but just a short drive from the delights of the Loire Valley. We had the most wonderful holiday and would not hesitate to return to this wonderful place again. Thank you so much - Vicki & Sally

What a wonderful place

  • 5 of 5

We have just got back after a couple of weeks touring around the Loire and we spent one of those weeks at this wonderful Abbey , the location is stunning , the accommodation (we were in Le Grenier Le Grains) is beautifully maintained and very comfortable , and the pool is just gorgeous ! we had a great time visiting the many places of interest and Chateau`s in the area as well as indulging a hobby of collecting Antiques, our hosts Marc and Christina couldn't have been more helpful in locating Brocantes and Vie de Greniers for us we went home with a car full of new treasures ! Thank you so much for a wonderful time and we will see you again Im sure ,warmest regards Sue & Jules

Beautiful gite, beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

Over the years I have stayed at numerous gives all over France, with varying degrees of satisfaction. So I don't give out 5 stars very often. This gite deserves every one of them. It is in a stunning setting, it has personal privacy and all mod cons one could possibly ask for. It is situated in an excellent position for visits to most of the popular sites in the Loire Valley. Here I should mention the owners, Marc and Christine who went out of their way to be helpful and welcoming, but were never intrusive. Marc came around with a local map and spent time telling us about some of the lesser known places to visit that we would never have found on our own. On a practical note, the swimming pool is gorgeous and our gite La Porterie was right next to it,though not intrusively so. The Abbaye ruins are quite beautiful and we had a most informative guided tour with Marc of the Abbaye and the grounds. I cannot recommend this gite highly enough - it ticks every box.

Beautiful gite

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have stayed in many gites in France, and this one is the best. The photographs don't do justice to the stunning setting of the abbey where you can wander freely in the grounds and pick fruit from the trees. The standard of cleanliness and comfort is excellent, and you can swim in a lovely pool beneath lanterns. Marc and Christine are on hand to provide extensive information about the area which is rich in culture.

  • 5 of 5

In jouw tuinen achter jouw abdij.

Doen !

Ongelooflijk maar wel waar

Nearest Barpub
5 Kilometres
Car: necessary

Tours Airport (ryanair) 50 min , A10 motorway at 14 KM

We are 3km away from Luzé and 5 km from Marigny-Marmande with bar/restaurant and little shop (grocery).14km from the A10 motorway .

Further Details:

Our superior gites are located in Indre et Loire (in the Parc Loire/Anjou/Touraine),, Department 37. The Abbaye, surrounded by pretty little villages also has easy access to the motorway networks and is on the doorstep to culture with a lovely landscape for walking or cycling. We are surrounded by pretty, romantic chateau, museums, vineyards and caves, market towns selling locally produced foods, galleries and the Atlantic coast is roughly two hours away. The Abbaye not only makes a successful base from which to explore the area, it is a place for you to relax and take pleasure in the quiet and breath-taking beauty of the historic setting, closing out the possibly stressful demands of modern living.

The village Marigny has the quaint little bar facing the old church.

Our closest town is Richelieu, a 'walled cite', built by Cardinal Richelieu (Mousquetiers!), an ally of Louis XIII. Richelieu is of a grid construction with very impressive houses, a park, historic market hall, opened on most days and cafe bars situated around the square. The facilities you may need can be found here (bank, shop, etc.).
