Canadian Western Red Cedar Lodge and traditional one bed Welsh cottage - Canadian Cedar Lodge

Updated: 13-Oct-2016
Bodffordd, Central Anglesey, North Wales - open countryside next to 177 acre lake. Nature at its best.

Please note we have 2 properties listed. A Canadian Western Red Cedar Lodge and a one bed Welsh Cottage. IMPORTANT. The prices shown by Owners Direct are for 2 persons occupying the lodge. If there are 3 or more persons in your party the price shown by Owners Direct will be incorrect. We apologise for this and the fact that we can not rectify the problem. The easiest way for you to get correct information about prices and availability is to e-mail us direct at mail@parc-cefni.co.uk. The price for the 1 bed 2 person cottage is from £445 per week. About £90.00 per night if booking minimum 2 nights. Please send us an e-mail or phone if you as we are confused with owners direct booking rates information. We don't understand it either.

Parc Cefni is situated near the centre of the Island and 10 minutes in any direction you end up in the sea. However after a day out sightseeing or visiting the beaches you can return to your tranquil piece of country with open fields, forest and a 177 acre within 100 metres. Your stay will be enhanced by experiencing and enjoying the proximity of birds, otters and red squirrels.

Nearby there is a hairdressing and health and beauty salon and Llangefni about 1 minute away by car is possibly the takeaway capital of the world.

We provide you with direction details to various locations so that your stay on Anglesey is spent enjoying its beauty. We have a PRIVATE CINEMA at Parc Cefni which can be made available to our guests. Charges apply.

Prince William said referring to his stay on Anglesey; 'I know I speak for Catherine when I say I have never in my life known somewhere as beautiful and as welcoming as Anglesey'.

'Catherine and I look forward to returning again and again over the coming years with our family'.

We agree with Prince William, Anglesey is a beautiful place and you are welcome to stay with us and enjoy this welcoming Island.

Anglesey has 125 miles of coastline with blue flag beaches and if you want a day out in Dublin enjoying a pint of the black honey then that is 2 hours away.

Anglesey is known as the Mother of Wales and examples of its proud history are numerous. The Gulf Stream ensures the climate of Anglesey is very mild (especially Winter) with exceptional air quality

We are situated off the B5109 between Llangefni and Bodffordd about 2 minutes from the A55 Euro Route 22.

Both the Canadian Cedar Lodge and Welsh cottage are modern and decorated and furnished to a high standard with 50 inch HDTV's with sky movies, sky sports and broadband (lodge only). The cottage also has a 42 inch HDTV in the bedroom.

We provide a welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk, sugar and a bottle of wine. Private garden area with ample private parking.

Private laundry facility available charged at £5.00 per wash/dry.

We usually ask for a small deposit about £25.00 to secure your booking with the balance payable 14 days before your arrival. We use online banking for payments and will accept cheques. We have a cancellation policy and a copy is provided on request at time of booking.

We have a minimum 2 night stay policy with minimum 3 nights over bank holidays and at Christmas/New Year. Prices are subject to change and rates may be different during bank holidays. Our rates reflect fair usage of gas and electricity and a surcharge may be made however our lodge is 45% more energy efficient than a similar size house built of bricks and blocks and so you need less energy to maintain comfort. You will not be disappointed but we are biased.

We respond to all enquiries received between 09:00 and 21:00 within 2 hours. After 21:00 we reply before 12:00 noon the next day.

Prices for the Cedar Lodge are based on 2 persons. Prices for additional 3/4/5/6 persons available on request. If you enquire via Owners Direct then the reply you receive is computer generated and will probably be misleading. To obtain the correct price and check availability please e-mail us direct on mail@parc-cefni.co.uk. Thank you.

Built using Western Red Cedar our Canadian Cedar Post & Beam Lodge was imported from Canada and is totally unique. It is not a metal caravan frame covered with wood and called a log cabin! This is the real thing.

About the Owner

I am a Chartered Surveyor and my wife Rhian and I after thorough investigation decided to import real Western Red Cedar Post & Beam lodges from British Columbia, Canada. Simply the best. These are not caravans covered in wood and called log cabins, chalets or park homes. As Tina Turner said, Simply the Best.

We like them so much we live in one ourselves.

100% recommend 100% stay again

This was our 3rd stay and will not be our last. The property, the location, the owner are all as good as the reviews say they are. It is simply a fantastic place to stay, very well equipped, in a great location, it’s so relaxing and quiet. Yes there can be some aircraft noise form the local airbase but it tends to be a couple of hours now and again and it isn’t a constant noise and when we stayed in April this year we never heard them at all. It doesn’t even matter if it’s raining, the view from the main lounge area is more than enough to entertain you or you could plan your walk around the lake or you could just sit back and relax and watch sky sports or movies on the 50 inch TV. We simply cannot say enough good things about this place, but what we can definitely say is that we will be returning as we have already booked for 2017.

Great Customer Service

  • 5 of 5

Very well equipped accommodation with all the facilities you could wish for a self catering break. We arrived absolutely soaked to the skin and Arthur could not have been more helpful - putting the heating on so we could dry all our walking gear out. Little touches such as milk in the fridge and a bottle of wine were most appreciated. All in all a great stay.

Highly recommended

  • 5 of 5

An excellent property in a wonderful location. We visited for the Easter weekend and whilst the weather was mixed, the Lodge and the reservoir made for a lovely relaxing weekend where batteries were well and truly recharged. The Lodge was very clean, airy and spacious with everything you could need. Arthur was a great host, welcoming us to the lodge, and also provided tips on some places to visit.

The central location on the island means you are only 15 mins away from either coast, but can return to the peace and quiet of the Cefni reservoir.

We would definitely like to return again in the future.

Perfect - size, space and location!!

  • 5 of 5

This place won't leave you disappointed. The location is stunning. Views from the amazing windows are really fantastic and no you don't need curtains. It is peaceful, with plenty to do and see in the area. The owner greeted us on arrival and lives in the next property but we weren't hindered by them nor did we need to bother them. Everything you need is provided (down to the carrier bags for shopping). We really can't say anything bad (there wasn't anything bad) the place was spotless on arrival and if you stay you will understand when we say 'Frank Sinatra, My Way on the mezanine with a glass of wine really is the only way to listen to it'. We have no problem in recommending this place to anyone even if it means we are losing a chance to go back when one of you books. We were even lucky enough to be visited by a red squirrel during our stay - we are used to greys in our garden but this was a first for us. Looking forward to booking again next year.

A deafening silence.

  • 5 of 5

What can I say? I`d read the previous reviews and expected good quality and service. Well! I was wrong, it was better than good, far better. On arrival, my wife Sue and I were met by Arthur, the proprietor. A quick rundown of the facilities and info regarding the lodges inception and some "do`s & don`ts", we were then left to start our much needed break. 1st, the location. Situated near Bodffordd and three minutes drive to the town of Llangefni. All your supplies can be purchased at the latter. Aldi, Asda, Iceland and other shops can be found here. As well as many take-aways. There is also a great six mile walk around the reservoir. 2nd, the lodge. Three bedrooms (two first floor one ground floor), one very large open room dominating 60% of the ground floor containing the lounge, dining and kitchen area. Open plan for superb communal living. The lower bedroom having en-suite facility. There is also a full three piece bathroom on the first floor. A brilliant piece of vision from Arthur was an ingenious little mezzanine from which you can relax and gaze across the lush landscape and the nearby reservoir. The building has a boardwalk that completely surrounds it, with steps and a ramp for wheelchair access that lead to a parking area for multiple vehicles. Everything in the lodge is of the highest quality, from bathrooms to kitchen. To summarise and a few tips. This is Arthurs` labour of love. Remember that! Look after it as if it were your own. Arthur lives across the field in another lodge, so remember this also when enjoying yourself. Nobody likes a noisy neighbour. Like the review is titled, I thought I`d gone deaf on a few occasions, such is the complete serenity. The nearby airfield is hardly noticeable, but I can understand the owners dissatisfaction with the low altitude of some fly-bys. Cant wait to get back there. So, all that remains is to say a big thank you to Arthur for being such a friendly and humble host. See you again soon. Jimmy & Sue.

From the Owner

Rhian and I purchased what is now called Parc Cefni in 2003. It extends to about 5.5 acres, situated in open countryside next to a 177 acre lake surrounded by trees. We looked for the most sustainable, environmentally friendly and unique timber homes in the world and found them in British Columbia, Canada. In the UK most holiday chalets (sometimes called log cabins) are in fact caravans covered with some type of wood. They are officially and legally classified as caravans. However we chose the real thing and the style of living they offer must be experienced. The Welsh Cottage on the other hand is built of stone with 2 feet thick walls, a Welsh slate roof and a big bedroom. Naturally modernised with high levels of insulation and internal finishes.

  • Notes on accommodation: Ideal for relaxing and sightseeing Anglesey. Unfortunately Parc cefni suffers from RAF blight. Jets regularly fly under 200 ft over the property including a children's nursery. Not only is this dangerous but it is also unnecessary. They do not fly over the nursery at the RAF base. We are considering taking legal action. Our prices have therefore been reduced by about 30% to take account of this. Outside: As above
