Casa Tres Palmeiras, Fonte Sante, Faro, Eastern Algarve, Portugal - Peaceful Location, Away From Tourism

A detached 3-bedroom villa with aircon and WIFI, surrounded by a garden with authentic plants and fruit trees. Offering parking off the road, a 9x5 metres swimming pool, great terraces for sun or shade and decorated with authentic Portuguese tiles. The rural surroundings make you forget the busy city or hectic work life; relaxing and enjoying are all you will be able to do... Past the entrance gate is space to park your car off the road. The terrace at the front is perfect for breakfast in the morning sun, tea time in the shade, the terraces at the back offer sunbathing space, bbq and dining facilities and the patio is 'the place to be' when it is off season and slightly cooler and windier. The balcony at the front, overlooking the fig grove, works a treat in the morning sun. The pool is the right size to get some exercise, and works great for the kids - running and diving. The living room is comfortable with 2 sofas and chairs and the open fire place makes it warm and cosy on cooler evenings. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, coffee machine, toaster and all you need for cooking. You can have a meal at the table, which offers space for 6.

The utility room with a washing machine, a dryer, ironing board and iron faciitates your clothes to be clean and presentable.

The bathroom downstairs has a bath, bidet, sink and toilet.

The bathroom upstairs has a big showering space, sink and toilet.

The upstairs bedrooms with in-build wardrobes and 2 single beds are equipped with airconditioning.

The double bedroom downstairs has aircon and a double bed.

For us, the best place to be is the terrace along the pool. Catching the sun, enjoying a glass and some nibbles and hearing the crickets and sometimes an owl performing is just magic. So is the sunset.....

Driving to the shops takes 5 minutes (running gently, you can do it easily in 15), for fresh bread and fish from the local market. Bigger food markets are daily in Altura and Villa Real, which is a slightly longer drive (10 and 15 minutes), but 'normal' supermarkets are everywhere, offering all the basics.

Going out in Tavira is a pleasure; lots of terraces, excellent food, lovely walks, shops and..... a castle. For days out, there is plenty to choose: by ferry to Ilha de Tavira, lots of different beaches close by, visit Spain via Vila Real and ferry, or drive to Sevilla in 1.5 hours.

With about 10 golf courses on the doorstep, you can always pick up your clubs and find a fantastic place to challenge your handicap!

About Mariette Maitland

The Mainlands bought this Portuguese house/villa to ensure a holiday destination that would accommodate their family (2 kids) an 'away from home', relaxing experience, time and again. We love being by ourselves, in a natural environment and just chill out in the evening sun around the pool. Living in London, it makes a change to breathe in clean air and hear no planes.

Why Mariette Maitland chose Vila Nova de Cacela

We were looking for a holiday destination with our family (then just 1 boy, nowadays 2) away from the 'madding crowds', but still in range of the buzz.

We loved Fonte Sante as it is only 5 minutes drive to the fab beach (Mante Rota), Vila Nova with its fish and vegs market and its authentic feel of a small Algarvian village. Over the years the village and beaches have evolved, but not our little village. The sounds of crickets and owls, the agricultural fields and the smell of grilled sardines at some of the little houses are still the same.

We love coming here as it feels like a retreat and is the perfect setting to refuel our energy levels and take stock of our lives.

Lovely, simple, clean villa in a small village surrounded by beautiful farmland. We loved the peace and quiet, an escape from the crowds.Our kids loved the pool. We went to the beach in the morning and relaxed at the pool in the late afternoons.

Gorgeous beaches not far and Tavira about a 15-20minute drive away.

Car required if you want to get around.

Quiet retreat in a rural position

Lovely Villa in a small village, consisting of around 12houses. There is a restaurant/bar next door, which was very quiet. Good amenities within the villa, beautifully decorated throuout, although more towels would have been appreciated. The outdoor furniture was past its best but we were there at the end of the summer. The TV did not work which the owner knew about but omitted to tell us, but it didn't bother us. We had a lovely relaxing time there and hope to return in the future (with extra towels!)

Vivienda tranquila, cómoda y espaciosa

La vivienda está situada en una zona muy tranquila. Es suficientemente amplia para 6 personas y tiene todo lo necesario para disfrutar de una agradable estancia. La piscina es grande y goza de una situación idónea.

Se echa en falta una barbacoa de obra, unos sanitarios renovados y un jardín más cuidado.
