About Kerry Latchford

I have been living in Pouzolles for 7 years now and it's the best move I have ever made! Having lived in big cities - Dublin, London, Sydney, Melbourne - since finishing college the move to a small village in the South of France was strange at first but I couldn't go back to a city now. I walk my dog in the vines every day, see the seasons change, learn more and more about wine and the vines, enjoy seafood lunches at Bouzigues and Gruissan, swim in lakes and rivers and most of all, what still gives me a huge buzz, is being able to eat lunch outside in February!

Why Kerry Latchford chose Beziers area

I was walking my dog on Christmas Day 2011 and caught up with a neighbour who said she had keys to a house for sale and did I know anyone who might want to buy it. I walked onto the terrace, fell in love with the view and that was it! The house was pretty awful inside so we gutted it and started again. We completely changed the layout to put the living area with the views, knocking down almost all of the interior walls and rewired, added insulation, added a bathroom, retiled, repainted and then attacked the jungle! The garden was literally just a mass of weeds and brambles so we put in the terraces, added the pool and the deck around it. We are delighted with the result and so far all of my guests have been too.

Fabulous house; brilliant location!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful weeks' stay here and didn't want to leave! The house has an old, traditional exterior; yet was modern, clean and spacious inside.

Our favourite area was upstairs in the main living/dining/kitchen space with direct access to the roof terrace with such stunning views! The house is very well equipped and furnishings throughout are of good quality and condition. We didn't use the plunge pool (just didn't get time!) but the garden area is charming.

There is SO much to see and do in this area; seaside, mountains, vineyards, rivers, modern and ancient towns and cities - we wish we had longer! As we love to prepare our own food (plenty of fresh produce from markets!) we rarely ate out; but there is a good choice of places to eat in the area.

We particularly liked visiting Pézanas, Narbonne, Beziérs, Carcasonne, Olargues and Roquebrun. The mountainous scenery just north was a welcome surprise!

Kerry was extremely helpful and welcoming. We will definitely return!

Aptly named!

  • 5 of 5

This house is a gem! Very comfortable, convenient to many places in the area and the villagers treat you like locals.

Kerry extended a warm welcome, leaving snacks, great info about the area and the keys to a cozy, clean and lovingly cared for property.

We highly recommend.

Perfect bolthole

  • 5 of 5

So after a year of non-stop work, this was my treat. And it was fantastic. The cottage was perfect for two when the missus joined me, but I was also very comfortable on my own. The cottage is an ideal size and very well-equipped, and I do know when I last slept so well. As I also did some work (and was motivated to do some writing - first book on the way) a good internet and a work area was most useful. The garden is small but big enough for two, and so secluded, it's amazing what you can get up to!! And with a jacuzzi on hand, well, this is what decadence feels like. It's peaceful, but with those lovely traditional French boutiques and magasins just a few minutes away, and only a 3 minute stroll to the start of some great walks through the vines. Actually, I want to go back right now. Landlady Kerry is a delight, and if you're very privileged you might get to babysit Oscar, the loveliest mutt you could ever meet.
