New to the holiday rental market in 2014, Wayside Cottage offers high quality, modern but traditional accommodation in the beautiful and historic village of Great Walsingham. The property was completely renovated & extended in 2007 and furnished to the current high standards in 2014. Accommodation is on two floors. Downstairs has a well equipped kitchen, lounge, sitting room with sofa bed, dining area, boot/cloakroom room and hallway. Upstairs are two beautiful large double bedrooms with a TV in master bedroom and a shared modern shower room. Outside there is a private driveway with off road parking, enclosed walled garden and lovely views of the surrounding countryside. 5 bar gate. The cottage benefits from well controlled underfloor heating & has an open fireplace for cosy winter evenings in. Wifi throughout plus quality sound systems, HD TVs, DVD/Blu Ray, Netflix, internet radio, BBC iPlayer.

About the Owner

Hello, my name is Susanne, I grew up in Somerset, met my husband Paul in Dorset & we moved to Suffolk in 2000. Paul & I fell in love with North Norfolk after our first visit in about 2002. Since then we have searched high & low for the perfect cottage to give us our very own little piece of paradise.

We didn't want to leave the cottage empty in between our visits & so we decided that we wanted to share it with other people so that they could enjoy it too

We have renovated a few properties in our time & I have a qualification in Interior design. My style is such that I want to create a space that is beautiful as well as comfortable with the hope that you feel at home as soon as you walk through the door, we certainly feel that way whenever we stay & it seems our guests do too!

We are animal lovers, we have a cat called Oscar who spends most of the time sleeping in various warm places & 2 Tibetan terriers called Alfie & Indy who think they are human!

with the barn owl regularly swooping low over the field and garden. We'd

Paul and I have been visiting North Norfolk for long weekends & holidays for the past 12 years and fell in love with its beauty and tranquility from the first time we visited. Ever since then we have wanted to own our own little bit of Norfolk and were lucky enough to be able to buy Wayside Cottage in November 2013. Although we have seen North Norfolk become more popular over the years, a traffic jam is still a rarity and the beaches are big enough to never be crowded. Whenever we visit North Norfolk we instantly relax and are able to leave our hectic lives behind for a few days, giving us the opportunity to recharge our batteries - we hope you do too

A deposit of £100 (£200.00 if it is more than 6 months in advance of your stay) & must be paid within 7 days of making a booking to confirm your reservation. Your booking will be confirmed by E Mail. Remainder of payment is due 1 month before arrival.

Changeover Day:
For stays of a week our change over day is on a Friday or Monday. We do accept mid week bookings and long weekend bookings & so we are flexible. There are a few times in the summer season where it may be possible to book a 4 night midweek break, please ask.

Christmas period changeover day on Monday 21 & 28th December 2015

We do not charge extra for up to 2 small/medium sized dogs. On occasion it may be possible to bring 3 dogs if they are small, please ask for details - there is a £20 charge per stay for 3 small dogs

The cottage comfortably sleeps 4 people in the 2 bedrooms. We have a sofa bed in the downstairs open plan lounge which can accommodate an extra person, if you would like to use the sofa bed an extra charge of £50 for a week or £30 for a short break will be requested.

Being a traditional cottage the staircase if fairly steep & narrow, with an open stairwell & only a small landing at the top, because of this we are unable to accept young children of 5 or under. If you have mobility issues you have the option to use the downstairs sofa bed, please mention this on booking.

The cottage is in between Great & Little Walsingham & amenities of both villages are within walking distance. We have an excellent restaurant called the Norfolk Riddle which serves local & seasonal produce & are also lucky to have a great pub called the Black Lion which is in the neighbouring village of Little Walsingham, recently renovated it serves good honest home cooked food & is particularly lovely in the winter with several open fires blazing away. Not forgetting Great Walsingham barns which is also in walking distance, a collection of beautiful buildings housing an art gallery, local crafts, an interiors shop & a fantastic cafe that serves the best pies & homemade cakes for miles around. A short ride in the car takes you to the coast & to some of the best beaches in the UK, long stretches of sand backed by dunes & pine forest, namely Wells next the Sea & Holkham. The location of the property, being an end of terrace, gives it amazing views over the surrounding countryside, down towards the Stiffkey river. It is beautifully quiet, being on a very minor country lane. We are very dog friendly & have a secure enclosed garden. The cottage also benefits from parking for 2 cars

  • Notes on accommodation: Wayside Cottage is equipped to an extremely high standard with quality equipment such as Stellar cookware, Nespresso coffee machine & granite work surfaces in the kitchen. No attention to detail has been spared, even down to the book shelf in the downstairs cloakroom! Being a traditional cottage the stairs are fairly steep and there is only a tiny landing at the top. The stairs are not enclosed and so is not be suitable for very young children or the elderly. Please note we do not accept under 5's at the property Outside: The cottage opens out through 2 sets of French doors on to a brick & flint walled & fully enclosed private garden, patio, separate seating area to enjoy evening sun. Outdoor table & chairs. The area to the front has parking for 2 cars and has a 5 bar gate across the entrance. Utility Room: Built in Washing Machine, Boiler cupboard with hanging space for drying wet clothes. This room is lovely & warm & great for drying wet clothes, boots or dogs! Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels, including bath mats, kitchen towels & tea towels & all bed linen are included. Other: Second sitting room with a double sofa bed, in this area there is also an internet radio with iPod facility. Dining area with round table & 4 chairs with views across back garden. Occasional chair with footstool.
