Two comfortable newly renovated apartments in an historical house on the banks of the river Aude.

Both apartments are newly renovated and have new beds. The apartments have separate entrances. They can also be connected for larger groups - up to 12 people.

Classic France has a traditional style using furniture from the 1800s. It has a 4 m long balcony 3 m high above the garden and offers great views of the town, the river and the surrounding hills. There is direct access to the garden from the balcony.

The Garden Apartment is like the garden flowers, lots of different colours. The bedrooms are located off a 6 m long balcony stretching the length of the living area. Great fireplace for winter stays. Access to the garden is via an internal staircase.

On the riverside of the property is a wonderful private garden with "dining and wining" areas overlooking the river. A covered outside kitchen gives access to electricity and contains a great wood BBQ.

In the middle of the garden is a very old olive tree from the 1880/90s. Other highlights include 2 fig trees, 10 citrus trees, Mediterranean herbs and many rosebushes.

Both apartments have free access to off street parking 2.5 x 8 m, suitable for 1 large or 2 small cars.

A gorgeous living area in newly renovated section of a 1800s historic building. This apartment is suitable for letting all the year round. The large living room (10 x 5 m) contains sections for dining The entrance is from a side lane next to the house with steps leading to the apartment. Spacious, wooden floors, high ceiling. 2 bathrooms with shower and a bed soffa. Air con, TV, internet.

About the Owner

Australian researcher / herbalist living in Sweden with a second house in Limoux. I have travelled extensively on many continents and had good idea of what I wanted in a permanent holiday house but finding it was the challenge. I wanted to be close to a variety of restaurants so there would no need to use a car at night; close enough to the centre of town to buy baguettes and croissants for breakfast without starting the car; a water view; a church tower view; a house with lots of French character, close to the nature in a place where the French traditions remain strong. Plus it had be an area where I could go biking and walking. My Swedish wife wanted a garden with rosemary, lavender and mature fig trees. Even demanding dreams do come true. We got it ALL, even TWO mature fig trees!

We had a lovely time in Limoux. The house is beautiful and the garden is fabulous. We enjoyed the fact that Limoux is not full of tourists. It's a lovely quiet town. And what a surprise to find a vegetarian restaurant as well!

We loved this house. A perfect blend of sleek Scandanavian

and old French.Better than the pictures .. Great

kitchen.everything you could need!Comfy beds and good showers.

The house is spacious and airy, and the garden is beautiful.I enjoyed the figs, beautiful flowers, fruit trees ,and herbs.

Its a short walk into the little town,quaint square and all the shops you could need.

Late October we had lovely weather and the colours were beautiful especially the vines!

Theres a lot to do.Several villages nearby.Monday market in Mirepoix has everything

This is a great house in an unspoilt area Highly recommend it.

Relaxing atmosphere in beautiful surroundings

Having arrived in Limoux after a long drive south, we were very impressed with the property as it exceeded our expectations. The property is tastefully decorated and exudes an atmosphere of calm and tranquility. Having unpacked, we retreated to the garden and enjoyed a glass of wine, listening to the river flowing by. The garden is beautiful and was used most evenings either for drinks of for a BBQ.

Limoux itself was restful but with enough to do to keep us busy for the week we were there.

The week flew by and the only problem we had was that we couldn't stay for longer and given the chance, we would return again.

Beautiful apartments in the perfect location

Rented out both apartments for a long weekend with friends and had a great stay here. A connecting door can be opened when renting together. Property is enormous, has bags of character, clean and well equipped. Bedrooms and bathrooms all very pretty and the classic France bedrooms have lovely views. Garden also delightful and there is an enormous garage which is handy as the street is narrow. Good location for wandering into town too. Owner very helpful and returned deposit promptly. We did have some problems with emails getting through. Hopefully these are now resolved but I would recommend taking the phone number in case of problems. We couldn't find any instructions for heating etc which might be a useful addition but this was minor - otherwise all was really fantastic. Highly recommended.

Owner's Response: We are so glad that our first full rental (both apartments simultaneously) was a success. As noted above, our guests rented both apartments giving them access to over 250 square meters of floor space with 4 double bedrooms. On the improvements side: we have fixed our email problems and are adding heating instructions to guest folder!

We just fell in love with this area and got The Dream House with the Dream Location. Limoux is a town with a thousand years of history, in an area that was even frequented by the Romans. Limoux offers a base to explore on foot/bike/car the stunning landscape of the Pyrenean foothills. The Aude valley, the home of bubbly, is an area of grand and living traditions. The quality of the farmer markets is superb with organic cheeses, fruits, vegetables, eggs, meats and wines. PLUS very nice local people who are good at sign language when your tourist French fails you. Car vs No Car: Only 20 min. by car from Carcassonne airport or you can catch the train - we are only five 5 minutes from the railway station and 15 min. from the car rental. By car- Toulouse airport 76 min. Girona airport 161 min.

Both apartments have their own private garden with a fig tree, herbs such as lavender, rosemary and sage, seasonal flowers and a BBQ. Both gardens look out over the river Aude and have views of the Pont-Neuf de Limoux and the Church of St Martin- both have 700+ years old! A 5 minute walk over the bridge, if you don't stop to feed the ducks, and you are in the main square. In the Classic France apartment the dining table, chairs and sideboard are from the 1800s while beds and sofas are modern. The Garden Apartment has contemporary furniture. Both apartments have fully equipped kitchens. The Garden Apartment is heated in winter. Whether you are staying just a few nights or using it as a base for a month, the apartments are designed to support you AND THE WIFI WORKS - HAPPY STREAMING
