The Apple Loft is a private and very comfortable studio flat for one couple furnished with an eclectic mix of country pieces and, in the kitchen and bathroom, with sleek contemporary fittings. From the glass fronted balcony take in the tree top views over the Blackdown Hills that stretch into the distance, look down on the grassy meadow below and watch the wildlife that visit, and sit back to watch the sun set and stars appear. On a chilly winter's night draw the curtains, turn up the stove and watch the 'flames and smoke'. The beautifully restored Victorian cast iron bedstead, dressed with pure cotton linen and a pretty quilt, as well as the slipper bath particularly appeal to those with a romantic nature. The Apple Loft is surrounded by gently rolling hills, wonderful views and has excellent walking straight from the front door. Being just minutes from one of the main routes into the West Country it is ideally placed to explore the many attractions that Devon and nearby Dorset and Somerset have to offer, including the pretty towns and villages along the magnificent Jurassic Coast.

About Mrs Suzanne Gray

My husband and I arrived here in 2004 having turned our backs on many years of living in London, not to farm, as this is no longer a working farm, but to run holiday cottages. Our home, shared with two golden retrievers and numerous friends and family who visit whenever possible, is the old farm house next to the cottages. Whilst respecting visitors privacy at all times we are on hand if we are needed and love to hear where visitors have explored and to share our favourite places with them.

Why Mrs Suzanne Gray chose Honiton

The tranquillity of the beautiful countryside, the drifts of snowdrops under the hedges and the Devon banks topped with bluebells, the sunsets, the huge variety of birds, regular sightings of deer, foxes and badgers never fail to delight us, and I still get a thrill when I turn off the A303 and head down the quiet lane that leads to Twistgates -at one particular point (and you'll know it when you get there) the valley opens up before you and whatever the season, or the weather, it always takes my breath away.

What makes this apartment unique

Surrounded by the beautiful and peaceful Blackdown Hills, the hustle and bustle of life feels a world away and yet we are only 5 minutes from the A303/A30 - one of the main routes into the West Country. The Jurassic Coast can be reached in under half an hour and Honiton, renown for its antiques emporiums, individual shops and delightful cafes and restaurants, is less than a 15 minute drive. We welcome our guests with a Devon Cream Tea consisting of freshly baked scones, lashings of clotted cream and jam made from our own fruit, and locally produced foods, cider and beer can be bought from the many farm shops, markets, restaurants and pubs in the area.

The Jurassic Coast is within easy driving distance and offers a range of beaches - approximately 30 minutes from us are Lyme Regis, Beer, Branscombe and Sidmouth.

Travel:

Approximate driving distances: Exeter airport 25 mins, Bristol airport 75 mins.

M5 junctions 25 (Taunton) and 29 (Exeter) 25 mins. A car is recommended as there is no public transport nearby however there is a good taxi service in Honiton and several supermarkets will deliver here if you wish to do an on-line grocery shop.

Distances:

Approximate distances: Upottery village 2.25 miles, Churchinford village 4 miles. Honiton 7 miles, Taunton 16 miles, Exeter 30 miles, Sidmouth 16 miles.

Further Details:

Churchinford (about 4 miles from here) has a very well stocked community store where you can buy locally produced fresh food, basic provisions as well as newspapers.

Our local pub, the Sidmouth Arms in Upottery village (about 5 minutes by car or enjoy a lovely 4.5 mile circular walk ) serves good food.

Several large supermarkets deliver here if you wish to place an on-line order.There are some very good restaurants and pubs in the area and details of these, along with many interesting places to visit and things to do, suggestions for walks etc will be found in the information folder and on our website under 'Out and About'.

  • The deep sided slipper bath in the sleeping area looks very pretty in candlelight. Separate shower, basin and toilet.

Notes on accommodation: Like our other 3 properties (property reference E8176 on Owners Direct website) the Apple Loft has been designed to offer privacy and comfort and there is ample parking. Please note that we do not accept babies, children or pets in this apartment and that smoking is not permitted in the building or on the balcony. Outside: As you turn into the driveway you will see a meadow area on your right. The balcony of the apartment looks over this grassy space bordered by trees and a small orchard. There are quiet spots too, amongst the trees, where you can hide away with a good book or watch the varied bird life that abounds here. We provide a couple of 'directors' chairs so that you can sit on the balcony or in the grounds. Utility Room: This facility is available to all our visitors and contains a washing machine and tumble drier (small charge). Separate outside drying facilities available. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The accommodation will have been cleaned before you arrive, the bed made up with fresh linen, and towels provided. For stays longer than one week a change of linen and mini clean can be arranged. Other: Ground floor entrance lobby with stairs leading to the apartment.

Wonderful stay at The Apple Loft

We had an absolutely marvellous stay at The Apple Loft. the apartment is just so lovely and clean and perfectly comfortable. The view is just amazing and it was the most restful place we have stayed in a long while. It has all the mod cons you might need as well as super luxurious bath! The hosts were super lovely and welcoming and even left us a delicious cream tea when we arrived! Tg surrounding countryside and areas are so picturesque with plenty to see and do. Walks along the Jurassic coast, visiting brilliant local farm shops that make the most amazing artisan bread on site and have a weekly supply of fresh French produce! Perfect. Cant recommend this place highly enough and cant wait to go back!!!
