Main property is a large house, formerly hotel, with 2 ground floor apartments. On raised ground overlooking St Ives Bay and West Cornwall Golf Course. Panoramic views across the bay and the golf course. Quiet and secluded location off private lane. Large garden and free car park available to guests. The flat has 2 bedrooms, lounge/diner/kitchen and separate wet room. The flat is fully furnished and the kitchen is well equipped and has a cooker as well as a microwave and fridge. The bedrooms have beds made up with fresh linen - duvets and sheets - for incoming guests, and they both have vanity basins with H & C running water. The lounge has 2 leather sofas with reclining seats, small tables, TV with DVD. The dining area has table and four chairs. The glazed front door opens onto the garden. The property has free wifi. Pets are welcome to stay providing owners keep them under control, protect the furnishings inside the flat from hair, etc. and respect the gardens.

About Jacky Pontefract

We are Bob and Jacky and have lived here for over 25 years. Before that Bob had a hotel in Carbis Bay. Jacky has worked in the IT profession all her life and for the past 20 years in the NHS - but is now retired. Golf, dog walking and gardening feature in our activities as does entertaining. We live on the property and like to welcome all our guests personally. In good weather we like to have a BBQ with our guests (which we provide), or a glass of wine overlooking the garden and the lovely view.

Why Jacky Pontefract chose St Ives

Superb location with views to die for. Secluded but not too far from the village and local towns. Local beach is accessible in about 5 minutes and area excellent for walking, surfing and visiting local attractions, not to mention the golf. We love the area with its clean sandy beaches and wonderful light. The property is very safe for children to play in the garden as well as for pets to exercise. Now that I have retired, the garden is taking over my time and is usually full of flowers which change with the seasons.

What makes this apartment unique

Golf on your doorstep and the beach about 5 minutes away. When the weather is good, you wouldn't want to be anywhere else! The views from the property are stunning and the photographs do not do them full justice. The colours change every day out on the Bay. The property was built in 1920 - an unusual wooden construction for the area - and taken over by the military during WW2. Just before and after the war it was a hotel and we still get visits from former guests of those times.

Outside: Large garden about three-quarters of an acre, mostly laid to lawn with some flower beds. Garden outside the flat has a table and chairs and there are two more on the patio at the front of the building where there is a large gas-fired barbecue for guests' use. The property is very private and secure. The front garden has steps leading down to the coastal path and beach or onto the golf course. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen is provided and changed weekly. Tea towels also provided as is cleaning equipment - dusters and sprays, etc, plus access to Vacuum cleaner. Towels can be provided on application for a small fee.

Beautiful views, lovely owners, really comfy bed

Absolutely gorgeous setting with views of the beach and golf course. Bob is a very caring owner and kindly gave our little dog some food when we arrived late on the Saturday. There are so many beautiful walks from the flat and the garden is also stunning. I am already looking for a window of time for when we can come back!

Everything you need.

This was our second stay with Bob and Jacky in this apartment and it was once again perfect. The apartment is always spotless on arrival and Bob and Jacky (not forgetting Roy their dog, of course) are always on hand to greet us.

The views from this apartment are amazing, looking straight out to sea and the beautiful sandy beach. The dogs absolutely love being here, we can walk for miles right from the back door and it's incredibly peaceful with noone and nothing passing your front door.

You are also only 5 minutes drive from Carbis Bay and a bit further on for St Ives if you want the shops and restaurants.

It has now become a home from home and we will certainly be a regular visitor.

Special interest holidays:

St Ives School of Painting - 10 minutes by car - has various painting and drawing courses throughout the year.


We overlook Porth Kidney beach and it takes 5 to 7 minutes to walk down to it. Hayle beaches are across the Estuary and can be accessed by car (through Hayle) which takes about 20 minutes. South Coast beaches (Penzance and Marazion) are about 20minutes away by car. Lands End is about 45 to 50 minutes by car.


PLymouth with ferries to France (Roscoff) and Spain (Santander) is about 90 minutes away by car. Newquay airport is about 50 minutes by car. Car hire/car use is recommended for this area. Trains pass by the property (300 yards away) on the beautiful coastal line between St Ives and St Erth.


St Ives is about 2 miles away (10 minutes by car), Lelant village is about 5 minutes buy car, 10 minutes to walk. Hayle is 10 minutes by car and 3 miles away. Penzance is about 9 miles away and 15 to 20 minutes by car.

Further Details:

Carbis Bay has a small shop/post office, convenience store selling all sorts and a small supermarket. Hayle has supermarkets as does Penzance (Long Rock). Banking is in St Ives, Hayle, Penzance and Camborne. Locally, in Lelant, there are two pubs which serve food. St Ives has several restaurants of all sorts including some excellent seafood restaurants. Hayle has Chinese Indian and Italian restaurants.
