Barn at Raverlat, St Mathieu,Rochechouart, Haute-Vienne, France - Peaceful and Relaxed Location, 10 Min Drive to St Mathieu Lake and 15 Min Charente Leisure Lake

The barn is a lovely old agricultural building that has a very airy and spacious feel, and is set within 2 acres of its own private gardens. It is located in the tiny hamlet of Raverlat which has about 15 houses. The barn is on its own on one side of the road on raised ground, and has nothing overlooking it.

The accommodation consists of 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, downstairs WC, very large kitchen, dining room and a large lounge with log burner. Outside there is a large patio area, large first floor balcony with stunning views and an outdoor heated pool(heated to 28c from mid May until end September) with pergoda for shade. FREE Unlimited WiFi is provided.

The nearest village Les Salles Lavauguyon is a 2 minute drive away, and has a boulangerie with lovely croissants and bread. Or a 10 minute drive to Saint Mathieu, where you will find everything including the supermarket, bank, tabac, bookstore, boulangerie, bar, restaurant, beauty salon and hairdressers.

All the comforts of home and more! High standard facilities and roomy accommodation made it perfect for our needs.

A car is essential as the setting is rural. Shops and large towns are some distance.

We were very un-lucky with the weather but found the log fire a great comfort on our return from the wanders of the day. 5 stars

Notes on accommodation: The accommodation has ample off road parking for 4 cars on the private drive. FREE unlimited WiFi is available in the house. The swimming pool is heated from early May until the end of September and has an automatic electronic pool safety alarm fitted. There are also plenty of books and a variety of board games available for your use. Outside: Outside to the rear of the property is a large patio area with a large table, reclining chairs, parasol and a Weber gas BBQ. The swimming pool is 28ft x 15ft and is heated from early May until the end of September. The large patio area next to the pool with a Pergola (for some relief from the afternoon sun) is great for sitting and watching the pool action! or for just soaking up the sunshine as this area is in full sun from morning to last thing at night. The first floor balcony has two double swing chairs, a parasol and a small table perfect for watching the sunset whilst having a glass or two. The two acre grassed area includes fruit trees, large trampoline with safety net, basketball net and two football goals with nets. There are also some adults and children's mountain bikes for your use. ALL the amenities at the Barn are exclusively for your sole use and are NOT shared with anyone else. Utility Room: Washing Machine, Tumble Dryer, Fridge Freezer, Iron and Ironing Board. The Utility Room also contains storage for the High Chair and outdoor play items such as footballs, goal nets, pool balls, tennis racquets and basketballs. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed Linen and all Towels are provided for your stay but you will have to provide your own towels for use outside and around the pool. Other: The Dining Room is 12ft x 12ft and has a table to easily seat 8 with an extra section which can be added to the table. We will leave a welcome pack, including bread, milk, pate, a bottle of white & red wine in the fridge/kitchen for when you arrive.

A luxurious homely barn conversion with loads of equipment for families. Bikes, pool, goals, trampoline, basket ball! Wonderful space with relaxing field views. Laid back area where EVERYTHING is closed after 12pm on a Sunday (so be aware if you arrive on a Sunday) but that way of life is very relaxing. Middle of the countryside and next to a working farm. We had a great holiday here.

Relaxing Holiday in Lovely House

We spent a relaxing week at the 'The Barn' where there was every amenity we could have ever needed. It is in a lovely quiet and picturesque location but within reasonable distance of places to visit and see if you wished.

Thoroughly recommend booking if you want a holiday with everything you require in close proximity!

Beautiful barn in a beautiful location

We had a wonderful two weeks in Max and Sue's beautiful house. The house has everything you could possibly need and the garden and pool were fantastic. We cycled to the nearby lakes and high ropes on the bikes provided with the house through lovely countryside. A lovely quiet location and a fantastic holiday. Would love to come back!

Amazing barn in your own little world

6 of us (2 couples each with a 2/3 year old) stayed at the barn for the last 2 weeks of June and had an amazing time.

Weather wise, the 1st week was 35oC plus everyday, with the hottest part being between 5pm and 8pm and second week we had sunny showers and rain.

We arrived early on the Saturday, just as the cleaner was finishing and she gave us a quick whistle stop tour of the barn and grounds, including the lovely welcome basket which would be a life saver for those who arrive late. Inside the barn there is a folder with all the information you need.

Everything is straight forward, logging onto the WiFi, using the pool and alarm, and the amazing coffee machine which helped to make a great start each morning.

The barn is very well equipped with all mod cons, but still within keeping of the character of the barn. The kitchen has everything you can think of equipment wise and the pantry has plenty of storage space for the wine.

The bedrooms are very spacious with lots of hanging space and the beds seem very big compared to king size beds back home. Two bedrooms have en suite, but for the others, there is the biggest bathroom in France with a lovely roll top bath & shower.

Outside, there is lots of room for children to run around in, the pool is excellent - we used it in the second week when it was 18oC and it was fine. The trampoline is a great addition for children too.

In the garage storage, there are plenty of bikes, a Boardman road bike, ladies and gents mountain bikes and children's bikes. For very small children, you'll need to bring a child seat as we struggled to find one near by. There are some great trails for all the family that go from the barn through the hamlet and onto numerous lakes.

It is to be expected in the region, but there are quite a lot of bugs (flys/moths/wasps) that make their way into the barn so arm yourself with some bug spray and candles.

Locally, you can pick up bread, croissants & cakes at the bakers in Les Salles Lavauguyon, which is a 15 minute walk, or 2 minute drive. Saint Matthieu is 10 minutes drive & has an Intermarche (medium supermarket) which has everything you'll need, or the town has smaller independent shops.

We visited the Arte Cafe, which does a great coffee & very nice food, le Terrassee is very friendly for a quick drink or ice cream.

We would recommend the market in Piegut on Wednesday or Chalus on Friday.

All in all, a great trip staying in a huge secluded barn with plenty of space!

Amazing place to stay, perfect for families

We had an amazing time at Raverlat, the barn is beautiful, with pmore than enough room for two families. Everything you might need has been thought of and the welcome pack of bread, pate, cheese and wine was perfect.

The pool was lovely and warm, the children wanted to be in it all day every day! They did make the most of the trampoline and wide open space available as well though.

The area is very peaceful and relaxed, but not far to find lovely towns with markets and castles. Thank you for a wonderful holiday, we hope to return!

Fabulous family & friends holiday

We had a fantastic time at The Barn. The weather was great and The Barn had everything we needed. We all enjoyed the outside space with the kids spending many hours in the pool and on the trampoline. We felt very at home from day one. We did venture out on several days but we could have quite happily spent all our time round the pool. Thank you.

Coast/Beach:

Raverlat is located in Rural France but it's excellent positioning gives it the benefit of several leisure lakes within the Haute Vienne and the Charente. Lacs de Saint Mathieu is only a 10 minute drive away (available for Fishing, mini golf, pedalo, wind surfing, horse riding and kayaking) and the Lacs de Charante is a 20 minute drive away both have man made beaches with safe swimming and excellent water activities.

Travel:

Limoges Airport with it's great links via Ryanair from the UK is only 39km away. They fly from Manchester T3, East Midlands, Stansted, Leeds/Bradford, Bristol & Southampton.

Angouleme Airport is 47km and Poitiers Airport is 98km.

We would recommend the hire of a car for your stay if you are flying to France. www.economycarrentals.com usually give the best prices.

Distances:

Les Salles Lavauguyon is the nearest village with a traditional bakery (boulangerie), hairdressers (coiffure) and it's Romanesque church that contains some of the finest frescoes in France. The nearest town is Saint Mathieu at 8km/10 minute drive. The fantastic château at Rochechouart is 15km away taking 20 minutes to drive there.

Further Details:

Saint Mathieu (10 minutes away by car) has a great array of shops including a supermarket, bank, boulangeries, tabac, book store, beauty salon for massages facials & more, a bar and in the summer months night markets selling artisan products and fresh local produce which are fantastic!

Changeovers : PLEASE NOTE, during June, July and August, Changeover day is SATURDAY. At other times of the year we will try to be as flexible as possible - just ask!

Booking Notes:
A Booking fee of £500, with the remainder plus a refundable breakage deposit of £500 to be paid eight weeks before arrival.
It is expected that the house and it's fittings will be left in the same state as found at the start of the rental period. A charge of £25 per hour will be deducted from the breakage deposit if further cleaning (eg. the oven and barbecue) is required after your departure.

Changeover Day:
CHANGEOVER : Changeover day will be strictly Saturday during June/July/August but we are more than happy to try and accommodate other days during Low to Mid Seasons. Please contact us to discuss. Departure time is 10am and Arrival time is 4pm.

Notes on prices:
Reservations are from Saturday to Saturday, but there are exceptions to this during December and January (Christmas and New Year) and also during off peak seasons, please feel free to contact us if you wish to stay for different days as this can usually be accommodated.
All rates are quoted in GBP - if you are paying in another currency, you must make sure we are paid the full amount in GBP - we use the Currency Fair exchange rate as a bench mark as that is the rate that we can actually transfer money at.
