The cottage is situated in its own grounds in the small hamlet of Sheigra. We think it is well equipped for up to eight people There are two bedrooms and bathroom uppstairs and shower room and bedroom and bunk room downstairs making it ideal for two families to share Sandwood Bay is 5 miles away, The island of Handa, a bird reserve, is a great day out, visit Smoo Cave at Durness or just chill out.

älteres Cottage in traumhafter Lage, sehr nette Vermieter

Im Februar 2018 habe ich 2 Wochen in diesem in absoluter Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit gelegenen Cottage verbracht. Von mehreren Fenstern aus kann man den Blick auf das Meer genießen. Am Ende eines Tales, am Ende des ca. 10 Häuser "großen" Dorfes liegt das Haus mit einem eingezäunten Garten. Das Haus ist mit allem ausgestattet, was der Touri zum Leben braucht, allerdings sind sowohl die Möbel als auch einige Küchenutensilien ziemlich in die Jahre gekommen. WiFi ist vorhanden, wenn auch nicht immer zuverlässig, für Urlaub aber absolut ausreichend. Das Preisleistungsverhältnis ist auf jeden Fall gegeben. Während meines Aufenthaltes waren 2 Fenster nicht in Ordnung, was für (zu viel) Wind im Haus gesorgt hat. Ein Handwerker hat sich während meiner Anwesenheit beides angesehen, so dass dieses Problem in Kürze behoben sein dürfte. Unbedingt positiv erwähnt werden muss die telefonische Hilfsbereitschaft der Vermieter. Fußweg zum kleinen Strand ca. 10 Minuten. Fahrtweg zum nächsten Shop ca. 15 Minuten. Mittwochs kommt ein fahrender Fischhändler, der unglaublich günstig den leckersten Fisch verkauft. Gut, dass das Haus über eine Tiefkühltruhe verfügt. Wanderungen (in die umliegenden Hügel, zur Sandwood Bay oder über die Klippen zu traumhaften anderen Stränden) sind direkt vom Haus aus möglich. Den sehr großen Wintergartenmit fantastischem Ausblick habe ich nicht genutzt, da er nur mit Elektroheizung ausgestattet ist und mir das Heizen deutlich zu teuer geworden wäre. Die Türen, die vom Wintergarten ins Haus führen, lassen auch ordentlich Kälte durch, die Heizung im Haus ist aber ausreichend. Ich habe meine Zeit dort genossen und mich als Alleinreisende nie unwohl gefühlt.

Comfortable well equipped house in lovely location.

Only two of us out of an original party of six could make it to our weeks holiday in mid-December but had we all been there we would still have plenty of room. The house is very well equipped and anything that we looked for we found.

The living room was cosy and being December we needed the TV for company in the dark evenings. We did not use the conservatory, but would have done had we been there in warmer months. It looked very comfortable and there was a large dining table there which would have been great for family meals.

Our dog also enjoyed his stay with a ten minute walk down to the little beach each morning for exercise. A couple of miles away there was also Oldshoremore Beach, which was stunning.

We didn't travel far from the house and when we did it was like driving in a car advert. Very little traffic and beautiful scenery.

Owners were very helpful, they suggested The Old Schoolhouse for a meal out and it is a super little restaurant. I couldn't manage a pud - the main course was large and very good quality.

The only downside was internet connection problems but for us that was not a big deal.

Away from the hustle and Bustle of life and amazing views!

We wanted a place that could accommodate not only myself and Hubby plus dogs but with a downstairs bedroom and bathroom for my mum in law. We love going new places and Cynthia's lovely home didnt disappoint. Everything we could need was on hand and the instructions from Cynthia were great help. We enjoyed walks and i went on a few runs also. Durness was beautiful with Cocoa Mountain Cafe a big hit. We traveled around and found everywhere just as beautiful. I would recommend if you have a long drive like us possibly staying over on the way as our trip home of 12 hours was tough. We had hit and miss weather but still enjoyed our time.
