Bungalow near Beach & Village, Hear the Sea Whilst Sipping Drinks on the Patio

Overview

Property

Updated: 23-Oct-2016
Bungalow in Croyde, North Devon, England - Peaceful Location, 5 Minutes Walk To The Beach Along Footpaths

Sitting Pretty is sat in the middle of a private single track cul-de-sac of holiday homes with a central green which all properties look out onto. Sitting Pretty has three separate bedrooms, one bathroom and a central roomy living area with open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area. There is a private shed for storage of surfing/beach gear. A brick build property, Sitting Pretty is snug and warm all year round with electric blankets and storage heaters ensuring you are lovely and warm even if there's snow on the beach!! In summer roll the patio doors back and open the skylight window for a light airy bungalow flooded with light and plenty of space for the family to relax. Sitting Pretty is sooo close to the beach even little legs can make it there, and the footpath is a gentle incline which can easily be used by either pushchairs or wheelchairs. After a lovely day at the beach its only a short walk home before having a shower and either a stroll to the village for tea or award winning fish and chips from Squires in Braunton, or from closer to home in Croyde, or a home prepared meal in the fantastically equipped kitchen at Sitting Pretty. There is a TV and DVD player so you can relax when you get back from the beach and if there is a day when the 'sun don't shine' - there are plenty of games or DVDs for everyone to play or watch. Indoor swimming pool Cascades (with flume) is 6 minutes walk away, Unison indoor pool and sauna is 4 minutes walk away.

Although we have been to Croyde many times, this was our first time staying in Sitting Pretty and it most certainly won't be our last. Wow, what a stunning place. So well equipped, comfortable, clean - a real home from home. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful cottage with us Belinda. We cannot wait to return next year. Best wishes from us all xx

Perfect weekend getaway.

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed a weekend break in Croyde with a group friends. Making the most of the beach, waves and the beautiful village of Croyde. The house is in a perfect location, with everything we needed for and weekend to remember. Also the owner made the experience even better, by being such a pleasure to deal with. Looking forward to coming back.

Owner's Response: So pleased you had a great weekend, and glad the location suited you - half way between the beach and the village means that you have the shortest walks to everywhere you need to get to. Even for visitors with little legs or anyone with mobility issues!! Looking forward to welcoming you back,

Dog friendly beach cottage

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time travelling with our puppy. Sitting Pretty was the perfect place with a secure patio out the back and plenty of places to walk the dog, not to mention the very short walk to the beach.

The house itself was very clean and fully equipped with everything our family needed. We loved our stay and will definitely be returning.

Perfect!

What a great find this property was - absolutely perfect. Bright, airy, spacious, clean, well equipped, we really couldn't fault it. Everything we needed was there - really couldn't think of anything that wasn't catered for! Very close to beach and shops. Would not have any hesitation in recommending this property. We will definitely be back! x

Totally relaxing

  • 5 of 5

I had a wonderful relaxing week at this exceptionally well equipped lovely bungalow set in a quiet pretty location. Only a short walk to the pretty village of Croyde and it's beautiful beach. It's great that dogs are accepted and that there is enclosed garden space. Wonderful beaches in the area, Croyde, Saunton and Woolacombe all great for long walks for both two and four legged visitors and very popular with surfers. Great local pubs serving very good food. I would definitely recommend 'Sitting Pretty' and would have no hesitation in staying again. Thank you Belinda for a wonderful week.

A weekend in Croyde

  • 5 of 5

We visited this cottage last weekend for the first time and found it to be absolutely perfect for all our needs. Its tucked away in a little cul de sac and a stones throw, down a little lane to Croyde beach or the village centre so no need to drive. My son and his friend skateboard everywhere, they have forgotten how to walk, and found lots of quiet places to do this, as well as going round the green in front of the cottage a few times. The dunes behind the beach are fabulous and great fun for jumping around in. Croyde beach doesn't allow dogs so we went to Puttsborough beach which is 5 mins by car and we absolutely loved it, just beautiful and a surf school, café and loos. The cottage itself is so well equipped. We didn't need the washing machine, dishwasher etc but for a week it would all be really useful. I am really fussy about cleanliness and usually expect to have a bit of a clean when I use a rented property but no need this time, it was sparkling clean and well up to my OCD standards! Lots of pubs in the village to eat at if you can't be bothered to cook and some nice little surf shops and usual post office bakery and so on. We loved it and highly recommend you visit the area and "Sitting Pretty".

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

First holiday property rental for 24years as I usually camp, having two dogs, but Sitting Pretty was perfect, and Belinda's answers to my many pre-booking queries gave me all the confidence that this was the right choice for a much-needed holiday. Turned out to be perfect :)

Sitting Pretty I feel is the best-located rental property in Leadengates Field, as it is central to the green, with shrubs opposite, plus the property's own trees to give some privacy, plenty ample side drive width, safe enclosed rear garden/patio for dogs/children plus small areas of earth/shrubs in rear paved garden for dogs who aren't keen on weeing on hard surfaces! A lovely sun-trap too.

Light, airy, so well-equipped, esp kitchen, lounge and bedrooms, many helpful and home-from-home touches. Not a sterile rental but a lovely welcoming home with fresh bread and milk if desired on arrival left by cleaner. Ample entrance hall with bench and coat hooks/shelf and bathroom off with folding clothes horse, plus full-size f/freezer and super-equipped kitchen were perfect for our stay as dietary and disability needs meant we didn't eat out but fully self-catered (2adults and 2 collie-sized dogs). A really warm, cosy property, with books, games, dvd's, Freeview, wifi all included. Shower and bath very handy and with no properties directly adjoining rear, Sittimg Pretty was a peaceful location with beach and village easily and safely reached without roads to worry about. Highly recommended!

We had a car and visited Braunton, Barnstable (good leisure centre and 25m pool), Woolacombe, Ilfracombe, Lynton, Lynmouth, Woody Bay steam train (accepts dogs, as does) Clovelley, and found lovely quiet country lanes to travel by. Ask for disability/carer discounts at attractions as these aren't publicised but were available eg free steam train and Clovelly entrance fee for carer; no blue badge parking concessions or tax-exempt due to disability free parking anywhere but park at Braunton Burrows for £1.50 taking route past toll road rather than £4 charge at Saunton Hotel beach car park. Happy holiday!

Location

From the Owner

As we holidayed in Croyde most years, we wanted somewhere we could stay and somewhere we could share the fun and relaxation that we have enjoyed in Croyde with more people, friends and family.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Exeter or Bristol at 62 Miles Nearest Golf : Saunton Sands at 2 Miles Nearest Train : Barnstaple at 10 Miles

Coast/Beach:

500 yards to the beach. Croyde beach has designated body boarding/swimming areas and surf areas. The beach is RNLI patrolled from 01April to 31Oct. The surf is amazing which is partly why OceanFest is held here every year. The beach itself is sandy - with Sandcastle building competitions and each end of the beach has rocky outcrops with wonderful rock pools - take your nets and beach shoes and see what you can catch. The beach also has football pitches and volleyball nets up in high season

Travel:

Car is not needed. Can travel by train to Barnstaple (Barnstaple has connections with Exeter St Davids) and then take the bus which stops either at Langsfield or at Bay View Farm - either stops are less than 2 minutes walk to Sitting Pretty.

By car - M5 to the A361 is the easiest road route unless travelling from Cornwall.

Distances:

Saunton Sands Hotel and beach 45 mins walk/5 mins drive

Braunton Village 10 mins drive

Barnstaple 20 mins drive

Go Karting/bowling 20mins drive

Cinema - Barnstaple/Ilfracombe 25mins drive

Facilities

From the Owner

Being able to walk everywhere that we want to go. If you forget something its not too far to go back to get it. Also some of us can be on the beach at the same time that others can be walking the dog round Baggy Point. There's always plenty to do and we just find Croyde so relaxing. Having a game of volleyball helps dry off after coming out of the sea. Croyde appeals to all ages and its good fun for everyone. It is an ideal jumping off point to explore all of North Devon, where there are adventure holiday parks, beautiful coastline to walk or surf and many other attractions: golf, horse-riding, gardens to visit, cinema, go-karting, quad biking and many more.....
