About the property

Bungalow in Croyde, North Devon, England - Peaceful Location, 5 Minutes Walk To The Beach Along Footpaths

Sitting Pretty is sat in the middle of a private single track cul-de-sac of holiday homes with a central green which all properties look out onto. Sitting Pretty has three separate bedrooms, one bathroom and a central roomy living area with open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area. There is a private shed for storage of surfing/beach gear. A brick build property, Sitting Pretty is snug and warm all year round with electric blankets and storage heaters ensuring you are lovely and warm even if there's snow on the beach!! In summer roll the patio doors back and open the skylight window for a light airy bungalow flooded with light and plenty of space for the family to relax. Sitting Pretty is sooo close to the beach even little legs can make it there, and the footpath is a gentle incline which can easily be used by either pushchairs or wheelchairs. After a lovely day at the beach its only a short walk home before having a shower and either a stroll to the village for tea or award winning fish and chips from Squires in Braunton, or from closer to home in Croyde, or a home prepared meal in the fantastically equipped kitchen at Sitting Pretty. There is a TV and DVD player so you can relax when you get back from the beach and if there is a day when the 'sun don't shine' - there are plenty of games or DVDs for everyone to play or watch. Indoor swimming pool Cascades (with flume) is 6 minutes walk away, Unison indoor pool and sauna is 4 minutes walk away.

About Belinda Pierce

Belinda Pierce is a working Mum to two children. With my husband Alan, we have been holidaying in Croyde for the last 19 years and have brought our children here as babies/toddlers/children and now teenagers. We love Croyde as a holiday destination and have owned Sitting Pretty since 2008.

Belinda Pierce purchased this bungalow in 2008

Why Belinda Pierce chose Croyde

As we holidayed in Croyde most years, we wanted somewhere we could stay and somewhere we could share the fun and relaxation that we have enjoyed in Croyde with more people, friends and family.

What makes this bungalow unique

Unique benefits are being able to walk everywhere that we want to go. If you forget something its not too far to go back to get it. Also some of us can be on the beach at the same time that others can be walking the dog round Baggy Point. There's always plenty to do and we just find Croyde so relaxing. Having a game of volleyball helps dry off after coming out of the sea. Croyde appeals to all ages and its good fun for everyone. It is an ideal jumping off point to explore all of North Devon, where there are adventure holiday parks, beautiful coastline to walk or surf and many other attractions: golf, horse-riding, gardens to visit, cinema, go-karting, quad biking and many more.....

Real home from home

We have just spent a fabulous dog friendly short break at Sitting Pretty in Croyde and can't recommend it highly enough.

Our whole experience was 1st rate from the location of Sitting Pretty in a quiet cul-de-sac to the ease of getting around sight seeing.

The accommodation has to be the best equipped place we have stayed with so much thought put into making the guests feel at home. The property is modern, warm and very welcoming.

There are two dog friendly pubs within a very short walk where you can grab some very nice food if holidays mean not cooking. We enjoyed the atmosphere in both pubs and being included in the locals chats.... very friendly!

Getting around the beautiful coastline and we ventured across Exmoor and took in several beaches as well as local towns such as Ilfracombe, Lynton & Lynmouth.

A fun packed 5 days that we will repeat.

Thank You for making our break a memorable one

Owner's Response: Thanks for the feedback, so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We try to make sure we cater for all guests - those with little legs (human and canine) and those with longer legs too. There's plenty of games/toys/children's books/DVDs so that come rain or shine there's lots to occupy the children, also we have a folder with leaflets in from all the local attractions to give you ideas on the not so sunny days. We try to keep a tide timetable and footpath maps there too, for the ramblers. And we like to ensure there are 'easy to use/easy to clean' cooking utensils/pots/pans for those who are foodies (whilst on holiday). North Devon has so many unspoilt areas to enjoy; we have been going there for 15 years and still haven't run out of new places to walk - especially with Rosie our dog. Hope we can welcome you back ......just let us know when.

Fantastic holiday :)

  • 5 of 5

What can I say - we had a fantastic holiday staying at 'Sitting Pretty'. The location was perfect - very quiet and a short stroll to the beautiful Croyde beach and village. The bungalow was fully equipped with everything we needed and a nice private patio area for our little dog. All in all a very relaxing week and we will definitely be back. Thank you Belinda for a great week in your bungalow :)

Owner's Response: Thanks for for your feedback Vanessa, so glad you enjoyed your stay. We like to think we're perfectly located and its good to hear that our guests agree. The small slopes and footpaths in the area, mean that even little (human or canine) legs can get around easily as can pushchairs/wheelchairs. But for the more adventurous there are walks along the North Devon Coastal Path or up into the hills behind Croyde or over to the nearby beaches. We look forward to welcoming you all back, you haven't properly relaxed until you have been on holiday in Croyde!!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your comments, so pleased that you had a brilliant stay. We try to ensure the bungalow has those little extras which help make it a holiday to remember - whether its the children's books/DVDs/beach equipment (in the shed). And the green space at the front - means the children can run around without being out of sight. They love 'scootering or skateboarding' down the single track inclined road and its good for playing football, frisbee or practicing boule or bocce ball.

Perfect weekend getaway.

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed a weekend break in Croyde with a group friends. Making the most of the beach, waves and the beautiful village of Croyde. The house is in a perfect location, with everything we needed for and weekend to remember. Also the owner made the experience even better, by being such a pleasure to deal with. Looking forward to coming back.

Owner's Response: So pleased you had a great weekend, and glad the location suited you - half way between the beach and the village means that you have the shortest walks to everywhere you need to get to. Even for visitors with little legs or anyone with mobility issues!! Looking forward to welcoming you back,

Dog friendly beach cottage

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time travelling with our puppy. Sitting Pretty was the perfect place with a secure patio out the back and plenty of places to walk the dog, not to mention the very short walk to the beach.

The house itself was very clean and fully equipped with everything our family needed. We loved our stay and will definitely be returning.

What a great find this property was - absolutely perfect. Bright, airy, spacious, clean, well equipped, we really couldn't fault it. Everything we needed was there - really couldn't think of anything that wasn't catered for! Very close to beach and shops. Would not have any hesitation in recommending this property. We will definitely be back! x

500 yards to the beach. Croyde beach has designated body boarding/swimming areas and surf areas. The beach is RNLI patrolled from 01April to 31Oct. The surf is amazing which is partly why OceanFest is held here every year. The beach itself is sandy - with Sandcastle building competitions and each end of the beach has rocky outcrops with wonderful rock pools - take your nets and beach shoes and see what you can catch. The beach also has football pitches and volleyball nets up in high season

Car is not needed. Can travel by train to Barnstaple (Barnstaple has connections with Exeter St Davids) and then take the bus which stops either at Langsfield or at Bay View Farm - either stops are less than 2 minutes walk to Sitting Pretty.

By car - M5 to the A361 is the easiest road route unless travelling from Cornwall.
