The Saddlery is a self-catering apartment in a quiet rural position on our working farm in the lovely village of Willoughby, near Rugby. Close to major road networks on the Warwickshire / Northamponshire borders. We are within easy reach of Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick, Leamington Spa, The Cotswolds, Althorpe and Silverstone, making The Saddlery an ideal central base within the Heart of England for business or pleasure for your self-catering (holiday let) holiday.

The Saddlery has been converted to offer a superior level of holiday accommodation, with the retention of many original features, such as wooden beams and fireplaces. It is furnished to a high standard with great attention being paid to detail and colour co-ordination. Original saddles, tack and horse equipment compliment the style.

The property is at ground level and offers:

Large beamed luxury fitted kitchen/diner, complete with washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, full-size electric cooker and hob, farmhouse table and chairs.

Spacious beamed lounge, with inglenook fireplace and wood burner, TV, video and Hi-fi; patio doors to courtyard. Broadband internet access is now available.

The whole property is complemented by a pleasant courtyard/garden, with hay mangers and original troughs.

Patio furniture and barbecue equipment are provided.

....The Story of Manor Farm

For centuries the village of Willoughby was owned by Magdelan College, Oxford, which included Manor Farm. In 1933 the Heckford family became tenants and subsequently purchased the farm in 1953, when the college sold all its property and land within the village.

The Farm House, which is Georgian in style, was built in stages over a period of 50 years during the late 18th century. The farm buildings were built in various stages over the same period.

The Saddlery was originally used as the ‘tack rooms’ for all the working horses on the farm.

The farm land extends to 320 acres. Originally it was all pasture land for the grazing of sheep and cattle. Since the mid-1980s some of the land has been cultivated, growing wheat, oil seed rape and oats. The main enterprises now are still cattle and sheep, running 150 beef cattle and lambing 600 ewes.

As the years passed the farm buildings became unsuitable for modern farming practices and new purpose-built buildings were constructed on a greenfield site. Between 1997-1999 the original buildings were converted into 8 dwellings, including The Saddlery.

The others are all privately owned. The Saddlery accommodation was completed in April 2001.

    To make a provisional booking, please contact Mrs E Heckford by e-mail, phone or fax; your holiday dates will then be reserved for 7 days

    We will send you a copy of the Booking Form for signature, which should be returned with either a deposit of £100 for each week rented or full payment.

    Confirmation of booking will be sent by return.

    Changeover Day:

    Notes on prices:
    Extra person: £60 per week

    Groups of under 25 years of age: Refundable deposit of £100 payable on departure.

    Cot and High Chair are provided at no extra charge, but please provide your own cot linen
