Revel Stones is a bright cottage in the heart of the Lake District - with two en-suite bedrooms, lounge/kitchen/dining area full cooking facilities. The lounge is on the upper level and the bedrooms are on the lower level. Revel Stones is situated on a quiet residential road, a few minutes from the shops, café, bars, restaurants and lake Windermere is short walk from the property where you hire a boat, take a cruise or just sit and enjoy the view. Windermere train station and bus station are a 15 minute walk away or a short cab ride. Parking is unrestricted and plentiful in the area - all the attractions of the lake district are a walk, drive or bus ride away - Lake Windermere is a few minutes walk.

We are a husband and wife team, Dave is from Liverpool and I am from Birmingham. We spent many weekends and holiday in Windermere and the surrounding areas before moving here full time 13 years ago when we purchased Cambridge House guest house in the centre of Windermere. We have owned Revel Stones Apartment for 11 years and it is a beautiful little property in an perfect location - we enjoy walking and spending quality time in the Mountains, Hills & Fells of Windermere and the surrounding areas with our dog Oscar.

Why Deborah Lupton chose Windermere & Central Lakes

We purchased Revel Stones as we had many enquires through our guest house website about self catering for families with small children & a dog - we thought it would be a good idea to offer this facility. We decided on Revel Stones because it is an unusual property, plenty of character, in a quiet location but really close to everything. It has been refurbished to a good standard and offers the modern traveller all the comforts of home.

What makes this cottage unique

Revel Stones is a bright modern property, that sleeps 4-5 offering 2 bedrooms on the lower ground floor both en-suite, which is perfect - no waiting for the bathroom, you have your own. There is also a double sofa bed in the lounge for larger families. There is a washing machine and full cooking facilities. The heating system has just been fully renewed and a new Mira power shower in the en-suite, new carpets & curtains in 2017. Revel stones is situated on a quiet residential street and is a few minutes walk to the shops, cafe's, bars and restaurants, and a 5 minute walk to the lake. Offers on road unrestricted parking in the immediate area. We allow one dog, which must be well behaved, had flea treatment, not allowed on furniture and never left unattended.

Perfect Bowness town cottage for family of four

What a superb place. Really did the job perfectly for us. We wanted it to be central town location wise as we wanted to park the car and not have to use it all week. It is a ten minute stroll down the hill to the lake via all the shops and eateries and also the Fells are near as you simply walk up the street and you get to superb views within a few minutes over the lake. The cottage is clean, cosy. Two bedrooms, one double, one twin and each with an en suite. Great shower, warm heating and a cosy living area with sofa, armchair, dining table for four and a perfectly fine kitchenette. Really overall suited us superbly. Parking is on road and free and you're never more than a minute away from the front door. Owners are very responsive and are nearby. Lots of cute period touches in the property. TV with sky basic package plus integrated dvd super. Quiet neighbourhood. We loved it.

Very clean and spacious

Very nice property and suited the 4 of us perfectly

Enjoyed our stay here location and property description was exactly as stated. Slept 4 adults perfectly but could of managed to sleep 6 if needed. Warm and homely feel to the house.

we loved our time at revel stones our stay was great as was the weather, it's a great location for surrounding areas in which we visited, the cottage is in a perfect location close to all amities would definitely return when possible.

Lovely little cottage and exceptional value.

This is a lovely little place in Bowness and presented fantastic value when compared to other, more expensive, options. The cottage was unique and quirky in its layout but has all the facilities you'd ever need (including Sky TV and WIFI for the kids). Lovely little seating area out the back too. No complaints whatsoever.

Relaxing

The cottage was lovely and in a perfect location the only problem we had was the bed was far to soft a more firmer mattresses would be better. We had no problems parking by the cottage and its a nice quiet street would return again

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review we are sorry you found the mattress too soft, we purchased a medium mattress and put a memory foam topper. It's almost impossible to please everyone's specific needs when it comes to beds - so we buy medium which usually works well. Glad you enjoyed the cottage and the location- it would be nice to welcome you back 😀

  • Notes on accommodation: Accommodation has two steps up to the front door and you walk into the lounge, from the back of the property there is a wooden staircase and a small patio area, due to the nature and age of the building it is not suitable or could not be adapted for wheelchairs access - the bedrooms are situated on the lower level down 1 flight of stairs and the lounge on the higher level. Outside: Front door leads onto the quiet street, back door leads out onto patio area, with bench table & chairs Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: fully cleaned for your arrival - no maid service during your stay. Linen/towels provided, but not replenished during your stay house keeping deposit of £200.00 will be required for every stay will be refunded once handed back in good order
