Delightful. A home away from home. Our dog Candy is still missing the garden!

  • 5 of 5

Honey Pot Cottage is clean, very comfortable, cosy and well equipped. The welcome we received from Carol and Neil set the tone for our fortnight's stay and the little extras for the fridge, the bottle of wine and the lovely flowers - lasting until the end of our stay - were so thoughtful. Our dog loved the enclosed garden and ventured out there at every opportunity. We can recommend this property to anyone who enjoys a peaceful setting to relax in and to return to after a good day out. If you have a car you can visit many places of interest from here. If not the bus services are frequent and it doesn't take long to reach Budleigh Salterton and Exmouth in one direction and Beer, Seaton, Lyme Regis and beyond in the other. The Donkey Sanctuary (very spacious) is a must visit . Last, but no way least, is the wonderful Sidmouth less than two miles away. Do walk from Sidford along 'The Byes' by the River Sid into Sidmouth - it's lovely! You will not run out of walks in this area - there are several around Sidford, and Sidbury links up to the East Devon Way. Also plenty of walks in the places along the coast that you may visit including, of course, the coastal path. This is a wonderful part of the country but what makes it perfect is the ideal place to come back to at the end of the day and that place is Honey Pot Cottage. Carol and Neil have made it so and they do not intrude upon your privacy. However they are always on hand should you need any help at all. Anne and I would like to take this opportunity to thank our hosts for everything they provided.

Owner's Response: We are always delighted to receive a review which clearly tells us that our visitors have enjoyed 'HoneyPot' cottage and the garden, our aim being to create a little haven away from home. Our own love of Sidmouth seems to be reflected by many who visit and revisit. It has something for everyone, especially our lovely Byes riverside walk leading from here down to the sea. Thank you to Anne, Chris & Candy for your very helpful review, we appreciate the time you have taken. Online reviews really help to guide people. Also, pleasing is that many of our bookings are now from personal recommendation which we feel is the best way. Kindest Regards, wishes for happy times and special memories of Sidmouth😊

Wonderful cottage in a fabulous location

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful cottage with a beautiful enclosed garden which our Golden Retriever greatly enjoyed. Carol, Neil and Honey are the prefect hosts, and the area is so dog friendly. The Byes is excellent and Sidmouth just a pleasant walk from here.

We have already booked for next year!!

Honeypot Cottage is a very comfortable well equipped holiday home.

  • 5 of 5

The quality kitchen lounge and dining area combines well with the secure fenced private garden and facilities attached to the property. The bedroom and en suite bathroom are also excellent. The car parking at the front of the main house is well paved and more than adequate. Our small dog thoroughly enjoyed looking at and exploring the handsome pretty cultivated garden as did we including the views beyond. The friendly welcome and availability for local advice from the Owners is advantageous and enabled us to be independent and relaxed in this outstanding rental property. We enjoyed varied day excursions to places of interest together with low tide sandy beach walking and other visits to the countryside and coast designated as The East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Altogether a brilliant location and an exceptionally good property to rent. Carol and Neil have created a happy place for guests of this property.

Owner's Response: Nothing pleases us more to hear from guests that they have had a happy and comfortable stay in 'HoneyPot'. We are thrilled that those who stay here feel that the garden we have created for the cottage is for them to enjoy after returning from exploring Sidmouth and all that East Devon has to offer. The very reason why we love living here.

Superb cottage tucked away in an idyllic spot

  • 5 of 5

Lovely little cottage with every amenity you could ever need. Garden was delightful and very private, and we were very generously invited to help ourselves to produce growing there. As the owner/manager, Carol could not have done more to ensure that our stay was comfortable and relaxed. The location was excellent for getting out and about - bus services were frequent so it was not always necessary to take the car. The walk down to Sidmouth via The Byes was a very pleasant off-road experience passing quietly through a lovely landscape.

Owner's Response: We are most appreciative of your favourable review. Our most important consideration is that our quests in 'HoneyPot' enjoy their stay to the utmost and are always glad to hear that your stay has been a comfortable and enjoyable one. We feel very fortunate to live in such a beautiful location and embrace it when visitors feel the same. Never forget those sunny moments from Sidmouth...we hope to welcome you back one day.

Gorgeous dog friendly cottage

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a week staying at Honeypot cottage. There were 2 of us staying with our German Shepherd. The cottage, and the outside space, was perfect - everything inside had been thought of and had everything you would need and was immaculate. The outside space was fully enclosed so our dog could roam around freely and the garden was a lovely space to sit in. The cottage is behind the owners house, which before we went I was a little concerned of privacy, however I needn't have worried! Carol was there if we needed anything or had any questions but other than that we had total privacy for the whole week. Sidford is a lovely village and the Byes walk was perfect to walk the dog down to Sidmouth. The buses were very easy to use and dog friendly and there are some great beaches nearby. We'll definitely be back to Honeypot cottage!

Car: recommended

Honeypot Cottage is situated in the village of Sidford with two pubs, an award winning restaurant, local store and fish & chip shop. Our visitors love the beautiful 'Byes' country and riverside National Trust walk ( dog friendly) from the village down to the seafront. Visitors frequently say that a perfect day here is to walk down through the Byes, enjoy the town indulging in a browse around the many unique shops, a leisurely lunch, afternoon tea, a seafront walk, sit on a deck chair contemplating the horizon followed by a return Byes walk back to 'HoneyPot' cottage.

Exeter Airport and M5 junction 30 are 10 miles distant.

A few minutes walk to the amenities the village has to offer.

Just under 2 miles to Sidmouth by car or bus or the Byes riverside walk.

30 minutes approx. drive to the Cathedrral city of Exeter.

Further Details:
