About Mark Brown

I live in Casal de S Jorge most of the year so its not just a rental property its a home from home. I bought the converted farmhouse in 2007 because of my love of the Eastern Algarve compared to the more tourist areas of central algarve. I pride myself on presentation for rental and the high standards I would expect from a rental holiday.

Mark Brown purchased this villa in 2007

Why Mark Brown chose Vila Nova de Cacela

Love the seclusion and views but also the accessibility to nearby local villages and beaches and the friendliness of the locals both expat and Portuguese

What makes this villa unique

Tranquillity, privacy, fruits from the trees and the lazy days by the pool with the pool kitchen being close by for my snacks and cool drinks. The space to entertain my friends without worrying about noise. The short distance to restaurants if I don't feel like cooking.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Previous guests have enjoyed the seclusion and the amenities offered, with children enjoying the grounds and pool. Also the short driving distances to local restaurants and beaches. The bird life around the Villa is lovely to watch with many different species to view. Guests who have stayed in April and May are in awe with how beautiful the countryside is, covered in spring flowers.

Beautiful property!

  • 5 of 5

Great home, with lots of space and beautiful views.

All the pics are exactly as it is. Even it is located in the moutain area, it is only 10-12 min to the beach and to Cacela. We were 3 couples and 3 children and there was plenty of room for everyone. I strongly recommend this property. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Thanks for a great vacation!

Relaxing family villa

  • 5 of 5

We booked this because of its location and facilities and we were not disappointed. The photographs did not do the villa justice and we were gobsmacked by how traditional and beautiful the villa was.

We were three generations of a family and there was something to do for each of us.

Our 2 year old daughter especially enjoyed picking the fruit from the trees in the orchard.

It was safe, secluded and we had peace and tranquility throughout.

It is not too far to travel to any of the local beaches which were all beautiful with great restaurants, however a car is essential.

We dined in a number of restaurants which were recommended by Anne in her welcome pack and visited other attractions also suggested and we were not disappointed. In fact our only disappointment was not being able to stay for another week.

Excellent family villa

  • 5 of 5

A lovely villa in a rural location approx 20 minutes by car from Tavira, where there is a wide range of shops, restaurants and bars. The smaller village of Cacela is 10 minutes by car and offers local shopping, banks, restaurants and bars.

The villa provides spacious family accommodation, is well equipped and maintained to a very high standard. There is a lovely pool and deck area and extensive grounds around the property. The pool kitchen and the outdoor barbecue area are nice additional facilities.

There are pleasant terraces to front and rear of the property and comfortable seating in both areas.

The quiet rural location is a key asset of this property, however I would suggest that a car is essential.

Excellent beaches are within 15 minutes of the property and there are also a number of golf courses nearby.

The owner has excellent knowledge and contacts in the area and is only to happy to assist with any local information.

My family and I would be more than happy to return to this villa for further holidays.

A relaxing sanctuary in the hills

  • 5 of 5

The villa is beautiful but you can see that from the photo's.

What you can't see is the warm welcome that you receive from the owner. The attention to detail in hospitality is what makes this choice so special.

The local area is like a home from home. There is a wide choice of everything you could possibly need in terms of shopping and entertainment. The fish markets in Manta Rota and Tavira are a particular favourite of mine as the produce is so fresh and excellent value for money.

The water parks that are an hour or so drive away are a good day out with children. You should hire a car at this location as the remote quiet nature of the villa means you need transport to get to places close by.

I have holidayed here 4 times and I love it a little more every time. I hope to return soon.

The best Villa near Manta Rota

  • 5 of 5

For the last 3 years I went with my family to Villa Casal de São Jorge. It’s a very quiet place where we can rest faraway from the confusion of the main cities. My children love the pool and the large space where they adore playing. This Villa is an excellent choice: comfortable, quiet, excellent location, well treated, good maintenance, ideal for families with children.

The beach, 15 minutes away (by car), is excellent: have a lot of space and, normally, the sea is warm. Nearby are many restaurants and activities.

This year I'm coming back!

Owner's Response: Thankyou for your review, I always try and do my best for all my guests.I know you love the location of the Villa and the children like the space to play also the pool kitchen is a great asset as i know you use this i think more than the villa kitchen, There are enough fridges and a large chest freezer to keep all your drinks, fresh food not forgetting all the meat you bring with you for all those Barbies you have coming back for your 4th year shows you really enjoy your holidays. Best Regards Anne.

The nearest beaches are Manta Rota approximately 10 minute drive away. This beach is miles long with white soft sand, and close by is the infamous Ria Formosa which is a protected area with little development, great for fishing and boat trips are readily available. On the atlantic side, a beautiful beach along the coastline, there are many beaches all leading off the N125 Tavira Island nearby is well worth a visit with cafes, restaurants and Caribbean style beaches. The ferry runs frequently

Faro airport is the most convenient and is approximately 55kms away. The drive to the Villa takes just under an hour and is mostly on the A22 (IPN1). A car is essential and numerous car xcompanies are based at the airport.

Vila Nova de Cacela is the nearest market town approx 5kms away. It has all you need, including cash points, supermarkets and markets. Manta Rota (7km) offers seaside cafes and restaurants. Cabanas (8km) is a popular holiday spot with a promenade of cafes and restaurants and local fishermen. Tavira (12 km) offers sightseeing, churches, an old Roman bridge, a wide selection of shops (including indoor complex with cinema), restaurants and boat trips to the island.

Further Details:

There are plenty of stunning Algarve beaches, with coastline and hillside walks and the bird life is reputably good along the Ria Formosa. Tavira is packed with history, fabulous architecture and cobbled streets to explore. Spain is very accessible to explore with the beautiful city of Seville less than 2 hours away by car. The whole of the Eastern Algarve offers local and international restrauants for all tastes. Vila Nova De Cacla is the nearest village and is only 5kms by car. There is a fruit market and lots of fresh fish stalls which are open every morning except Sundays. There are banks, cash machines, supermarkets, cafes bars and good restaurants and just a couple of kms away is the beach resort of Manta Rota which comes alive in the summer and has many cafes and good restaurants. The main square is a hub of entertainment, with live music, a market selling local produce, clothes, and many other stalls from Africa and Morocco selling wooden carvings, and many other items. A huge disco is set up on the beach, great for all ages. There are plenty of activities on the beach like pedal boats, paragliding, volleyball, and much more. The up market resort of Pria-Verde has a wonderful beach side bar and restaurant.
