The villa is one of 3 in a linked development with shared gardens and large infinity pool. It has private parking for 2 cars and the house is equipped with sunbeds, beach equipment, bbq, and patio sets. The house is located at the edge of the old part of the village, on a quiet road, but is just a short walk to the beach and village centre. The views from the balconies and patios are to unspoilt countryside and there is a view to the sea and village. The patio by the pool is large and equipped with furniture for eating outside. There is a convenient kitchenette by the pool patio for preparing food and drinks whilst enjoying the pool, gardens and patio. The gardens and pool are particularly private and not overlooked as there are no close neighbours to the 3 linked villas. The villa is modern, (built in 2010), and is newly furnished to a high standard.

About the Owner

My husband Paul and I live in England and spend as much time in Salema as time will allow. We have two grown up children who spend time with us there every year. Like a lot of people, we fell instantly in love with the village due to it's friendly atmosphere and unspoilt feel. We love to walk, cycle, swim and enjoy the first class and diverse restaurants the village offers. Our children and extended family range across all ages and they all enjoy staying at the house. Salema is a perfect base for a relaxing family holiday and more often than not, people return, which says it all.

Beautiful villa with everything you could wish for

We were very excited to have found a villa in the centre of Salema having stayed a little way out of the village several times. The villa is in a perfect location just up the hill from the shops, restaurants and beach and we loved being able to walk down into Salema without having to use the car every time.

Booking was easy and communication with the owners was good. Hilde the housekeeper was at the property when we arrived and she gave us lots of ideas of where to go and what to do. The villa is immaculate and is fully equipped and has beautiful views of the beach.

We would love to return in the future as we love all that Salema has to offer and we're already talking about our plans for next year!

Perfect villa, perfect holiday

No reviews since 2014, we think people have been keeping this villa a secret, time to spill the beans....!

First off, we have had great communications from the owners Paul and Julia throughout and from Hilde the housekeeper whilst we were staying at Vale Da Casa C.

Everything about this villa is perfect....from the welcome pack on arrival, the lovely air conditioned rooms throughout, the well equipped kitchen, the relaxing infinity pool, to the perfect views down to Salema, (and since the last review wifi and English TV channels via a satellite box have been added!).

The villa is in a perfect location in Salema, a 5/10 minute walk to the village centre and beach, and is an ideal location to explore the best of the Algarve - Lagos is a 20 minute drive along the coast, (kayaking around the caves and grottos is a must here, we recommend Days of Adventure), the west coast and Bordeira beach for surfing and bodyboarding is a 30 minute drive and Faro airport is just over an hours drive.

Within Salema there is a lovely beach where local fisherman land their fish in the morning and there are great places to eat and drink, all located close to each other and within a 10-15minute walk from the villa, (be aware in high season you will need to book a table in advance to eat in the popular places, up to 4 days for Agua Na Boca and 1 to 2 days for Lourenco, Boia Bar and Casa Pizza).

We are a family of five, three teenage boys aged 13 to 19 - there was something to suit everyone and we had our best holiday ever staying in Vale Da Casa C.....thank you!

Fantastic holiday

What a fantastic holiday experience!! The villa and the location ticked all the boxes. The villa was superb, beautifully furnished and clean with stunning views over the valley and down towards the sea. Opening the bedroom window and stepping out on to the balcony each morning was a view to die for. It was so peaceful and quiet, with very little traffic and only a few minutes walk to the village of Salema and the beach. For us Salema was perfect, a lovely stretch of uncrowded beach and a small non-touristy town with Portuguese character and great little restaurants and bars. We are runners so loved running to Boca da Rio beach along the cycle path over the headland each day. Tough hilly running, challenging but rewarding!! Hilde the housekeeper was lovely, had kept the villa extremely clean and popped in three times to check if we needed anything- great service!! And I haven't mentioned the pool, it was a fantastic infinity pool, shared with other residents but only 2 neighbouring villas so never crowded. We were lucky in that we had a quiet family next door but one. I suppose it could be a problem if you want a quiet relaxing holiday like us ( we are a quiet bed early up early couple) and you had noisy neighbours. I think WI FI in the villa is a future must have, as the other all villas had it and we were very jealous. The bars in salema all mostly have free wi Fi but I think it would be good for the villa to offer that service. Also the lack of any British TV channels was a slight gripe as after a week of only a French news channel we were desperate for BBC or sky news!! Just a recommendation for the future. Location

The large swimming pool and gardens as well as the 3 balconies and patio mean that we can spend a lot of time outside enjoying the lovely weather that this part of Portugal is famous for. We bought the house because we feel Salema is the most beautiful and unspoilt traditional village on the Algarve coast. It is ideal for a relaxing holiday but with excellent restaurants for evening visits.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

The beach at Salema is just a 3 minute walk away and there are many secluded coves and beaches a short drive away that cater for quiet sunbathing right through to surfing. The wilder west coast is a 30min drive away. Salema sits in an area of natural parkland and the clifftop and inland countryside walks are stunning. The beaches at Furnes, Figuera, Zavial, Ingrena, Cabanas Velhas, Boco de Rio, Burgau and Praia de Luz are within easy reach.The wilder west coast also has many Surfing beaches.

Travel:

Faro is the nearest airport and is a 1-1.25 hr drive away. The A22 motorway gets you from Faro to Lagos, then a 20 min drive on the N125 takes you to Salema. Car hire is recommended to see the area although there are buses and shuttles to the nearest towns, villages and airport. If driving all the way from the UK, as many people do, the driving time from the port of Santander is around 10 hrs. If using the Channel Tunnel the distance is 1088 miles.

Distances:

Salema is a 20 min drive from Lagos which is the largest town in the area. Lagos is ideal for shopping and visiting the Marina or the famous fish market. Sagres and Cape St Vincent are a 30 min drive west which is well worth visiting to see spectacular sunsets. The resort of Praia de Luz is 15mins away and the village of Burgau is 10mins. A clifftop walk to Burgau would take around 1hr.

Further Details:

There are 3 small supermarkets and several small bars in Salema. Fresh bread is available in the morning and there are several very good restaurants and a pizzeria to choose from. Larger supermarkets, such as Intermarche, Aldi, Lidl, Continente etc. are in Lagos and on the N125 just outside the village or at nearby Vila do Bispo. The village is spoilt by having several excellent restaurants including the Boia Bar, O'Laurencos, Agua na Boca, Bistro Central, Mira Mar and Atlentico. There are ATM cash machines in the village and at the Intermarche nearby. Free wifi is available at many bars and restaurants.

It also offers split accommodation, if required, with the ground floor being capable of being used as a self contained apartment. Having dedicated private parking for 2 cars is a huge advantage, particularly in the Summer months.

  • Notes on accommodation: The house is modern and is newly furnished. It is on 3 floors with ceramic floor tiles, balconies and pool, so extra care is required with small toddlers and small children. Children under 18 must be supervised when using the pool. Outside: The villa shares a large infinity pool and gardens with 2 linked properties. A private patio leads down to the pool. A BBQ, loungers, patio table and chairs are all supplied. There are also patio sets on two of the balconies Utility Room: Ironing board, iron, hair dryer, clothes airer, vacuum cleaner and all necessary equipment is supplied Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels, beach towels and linen are supplied and the house is cleaned and prepared prior to arrival. Our housekeeper, Hilde, lives nearby and is on hand if required. She speaks English, German and Portuguese. A Gardener and Pool Man attend weekly. Other: The ground floor can be used as a self contained apartment with lounge, mezzanine bedroom, kitchenette, wc and shower room. Ideal for kids, (or parents), who like some time on their own! It has a TV with USB and HDMI ports, DVD and fridge crockery etc.
