About Piers Lewis

We live in the UK with our young daughter, son and spaniel, but travel back and forth to Les Crozes frequently. We've both travelled the world but find the romance and breathtaking views in the Dordogne to be the perfect place to unwind.

We are constantly updating the property so its always a very comfortable, relaxing and romantic place to stay, whatever time of year.

Piers Lewis purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Piers Lewis chose Domme

We bought Les Crozes due to its perfect position.

Its right on the outskirts of one of the prettiest villages in France. The main town of Domme has stunning little streets and historic arches, fantastic artisan shops and wonderful restaurants and cafes.

The nice thing about our position is that you can walk in to the village in next to no time and be amongst the hustle and bustle, shops and eateries, or you can just relax in the garden and its really peaceful.

Les Crozes is also positioned perfectly in the 'Dordogne triangle' to make the most of all the local attractions and sights.

It is also the most fantastic wine and food region!

What makes this cottage unique

We thoroughly enjoy the ability to explore the Dordogne region from Les Crozes. We can also hire canoes only a 10 min walk away!

Also, with young children - we love walking into Domme with the panoramic views and having a choice of restaurants - child and dog friendly, we can both enjoy some wine and then stroll home, no car required.

Our daughter adores the Domme Le Petite Train as well as the fantastic river beaches at the bottom of the hill.

We love the french markets and brocantes. Everything is so very close and convenient.

And the views, and the light - ever-changing and always breathtaking!

NEWSFLASH!: 2016 Rates held for 2017 Notes on accommodation: The cottage is like home from home with integrated appliances, well stocked kitchen utensils, recipe books, dining table and table cloth. There is a widescreen TV and DVD player with basic English Satellite TV, so you don't have to miss your favourite programmes. Books on shelves, games to borrow and some picnic kit for taking to the riverside. Before very long, you'll be extremely comfortable and dreading leaving. Outside: Beautiful terraced gardens spread over 4 terraces. Includes small caves and incredible views across the region. Sun loungers, tables and chairs are available on all levels, as are BBQ s. The garden backs onto the enormous old Domme town wall, and now ruined 9th century castle. There is a large disused arched castle gate which makes a romantic medieval backdrop through the trees.

Special interest holidays:

Les Crozes is the perfect location for the following:

Cycling, canoeing, sight seeing, wine tasting, walking, ballooning, dining and relaxing.

10 minutes to 2 river beaches / picnic spots and a snack bar at the bottom of the hill. You can walk or drive. There are numerous river beaches to discover for secluded picnics and swimming.

Convenient connections to Les Crozes are available into Brive, Limoges, or Bergerac airports, or by train, into Sarlat. Either way, it is best to complete your journey by car to Domme, viewing the gorgeous scenery on the way.

Domme itself is but a 5 min walk away, whilst the Dordogne river is 10 mins. A decent sized supermarket exists in the next village (Cenac) about 15 mins walk or 5 mins drive away, with the nearest town (other than the small town of Domme), being Sarlat, about 20 mins drive away.

Further Details:

The town of Domme has a boulangerie, cash point, approx 11 places to eat, from cafe's to fine dining, some with spectacular views over the Dordogne valley. It has a museum, caves under the town to investigate, a petit train in the summer months, glacerie, tourist office and la poste. A good sized supermarket for more mainstream supplies can be found in Cenac St Julien, the town at the bottom of the hill. Cenac is also where you can hire canoes and take a day on the Dordogne river, swim from the river beaches or take a riverside walk / picnic. 20mins drive is Sarlat, with fantastic markets, beautiful architecture and lots of shops, galleries and brocantes to explore and discover.
