Sleeps 2 (+2 on sofa bed) plus baby. Quality 1-bed first floor apartment in a modern,secure complex with a cobbled courtyard and a relaxing swimming pool.

Set in the quiet back streets of historic Tavira and surrounded by typical Algarve houses, it's central location allows you to leave the car behind and immerse yourself in the local atmosphere by walking through the narrow cobbled streets, peering through open doors to see a secret courtyard or visiting small shops for their locally produced products.

At night Tavira is a bustling city with a multitude of restaurants on either side of the river providing a variety of cuisine. During the summer months, in the main square, you can pass away the late evening hours watching the live shows, or listen to the music whilst enjoying a cool drink at one of the al fresco cafes. Tavira accommodates all tastes and styles throughout each season and the apartment is ideally positioned to meet your needs.

The apartment is only 2 minutes walk to a bar and café, 5 minutes to the market for fresh fish, meat, fruit and vegetables and only a few minutes walk to shops, restaurants and the riverside.

Set in the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve, Tavira has retained a lot of its old character and avoided mass tourism. As it is not solely a holiday resort, it is still a good place to visit in winter. It is ideally situated for exploring the whole Algarve and also Spain (30 km away). There are 6 golf courses within a 20km radius, including Benamor (4km), Quintas Ria and Cima (7km). Take a ferry to Tavira island beaches, hire bikes and cycle old tracks or walk for miles on empty beaches.

The apartment has a living/dining room with sliding windows which open onto the balcony overlooking the pool. There is a new sofa which converts into a double bed. The kitchen, overlooking the street and traditional roof tops, is at the back and is fully fitted including washing machine and dishwasher. The bedroom also overlooks the quiet street and has a double bed and a range of fitted cupboards. The small balcony catches the early morning sun. Licence no. 1313/AL

Very nice apartment.

We, a family of 4, enjoyed our stay in this apartment very much. Everything we could think of was available in the apartment. Our contact with the owner was very nice. The terras outside and the swimming pool in front were very nice to stay at. Also the apartment is situated ideally to the center of Tavira, everything within walking distance and also very quiet.

Perfect

We had a great holiday ,the apartment was very well furnished ,spacious and clean with everything we needed .Having aircon and wifi was brilliant and the pool was an added bonus to cool off after a day's exploring .The location is excellent ,only a few minutes walk to the centre of town ,shops and beach ferry . Hope to return again and would recommend without hesitation .

Tavira apartment

The apartment was superb! Extremely clean, modern and very well equipped. It was ideally situated with only a few minutes walk to the centre of town.

Great communication with the owner and we were grateful to leave our luggage in the garage on our final day as we had an evening flight home.

Would love to return one day!

GREAT PLACE.

Great apartment with all the necessary facilities. Brilliant location. Close to everything but situated out of the way from all the hustle and bustle. Very clean and secure. Excellent communication with the owners Sylvia & Mike .

Tavira is a great little town with a good selection of restaurants and bars but no lager louts, loads of young families, mainly Spaniards & Portuguese. Plenty of shops nearby & the veg & meat market is absolutely brilliant if you like to do a bit of cooking yourself. Highly recommended if you're looking for a laid back kind of holiday. Excellent beaches and it is also close to Faro & the airport (about 40 minutes away by car or train).

We fell in love with this apartment at the first viewing. It is well built and equipped, secure, and the position is so convenient . Because the development has permanent Portuguese residents, there is always someone around, even in the winter -which is when we mostly visit.

Nearest Airport : Faro at 40 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : At the corner at 50 Metres Nearest Ferry : River quayside to the island or 2 km all year at 300 Metres Nearest Golf : Benamor at Conceicao at 4 Kilometres Nearest Train : Tavira station at 1 Kilometres Nearest Motorway : A22 at 3 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : On the riverside quay at 300 Metres Car: not necessary

Coast/Beach:

Beautiful clean sandy beaches with excellent facilities, especially Ilha da Tavira. Year-round ferry 2kms walk/cycle/drive (parking available.) Summer-only ferry from quayside 7 minutes walk away. Island beaches are also accessible from Sta Luzia (summer only) and Barril via a walk or little train. Good beaches along the coast as far as Faro or east to Spanish border.

Travel:

Faro airport 35km. Car hire and taxis available. Car hire not essential but recommended for exploring the area.

Regular train service the length of the Algarve and to Lisbon, Porto.

Local buses cover a wide area and from Tavira bus station it is possible to go as far as Seville.

Bicycle hire available in the town.

Distances:

Faro 40 minutes drive

Olhao 30 minutes drive

Stz Luzia 10 minutes/40 minute walk/20 cycle

Cabanas 15 minute drive

Further Details:

Municipal market and shops including small supermarkets, are within 5 minutes walk. A little further to bars, pavement cafes and a variety of restaurants. Gardens along the riverside, the Roman bridge, castle remains and plenty of cobbled streets! Across the river is the Gran Plaza with a large supermarket, a range of other shops and a multi-screen cinema.

We like to sit on the balcony looking at the local house roof tops and Sao Sebastian church. We see birds swooping down to drink in the swimming pool and watch the bats come out at dusk.
