About Mrs Anita Rendall

The Owners of Rose Cottage live in the Cotswolds and have loved and walked in beautiful Yorkshire for many years. The cottage is managed by local people. Linen and towels are provided by the White Bedding Company.

Why Mrs Anita Rendall chose Hawes

West Witton is a vibrant village with a wonderful restaurant, a real ale pub, village shop and wonderful walking.

We have always loved the market town of Leyburn which is about 2 miles away and has additional good places to eat (The Sandpiper) and a variety of shops to meet all needs.

Access to all the Dales and other places to visit is easy from West Witton.

We found the cottage when visiting the Wensleydale Heifer on a snowy night in 2013 and loved it.

Lovely, well appointed, well situated cottage in a friendly village, close to two pubs.

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay in Rose Cottage. It is attractively decorated and has all the facilities you need. The owners have created a real home from home for the holiday maker in the Dales. Great village with lots of footpaths and bridleways for walking the dog and the Wensleydale Heifer next door for a treat. The Fox & Hounds down the road is a proper village pub with real ales and a friendly crowd as well as serving food. All in all a really great holiday - thank you Anita and Richard. We will be back!

Cosy cottage, ideal location

  • 5 of 5

We had three nights in Rose cottage and were impressed by a number of things. The cottage itself is beautiful, really cosy and stylishly decorated throughout. It is superbly equipped with everything you would want for a comfortable stay. Loved the bathroom with its decor, power shower and unlimited hot water and the kitchen is lovely, with tea, milk and biscuits left for us on arrival most welcome. The downstairs is decorated in a French style and is beautiful- one regret is that the weather was a little too warm to light the wood burning stove (wood provided).

There is a pub, store and restaurant nearby and although the cottage is located on a main road, it's extremely quiet. The countryside is wonderful and we toured around many of the sites and sampled local food and drink. Can recommend a trip to Burton Castle, Hawes and Aysgarth falls, and loads of other beautiful villages nearby. Rose Cottage makes an ideal base for exploring the Dales and further afield. Wish we could have stayed longer - maybe next time.

Would thoroughly recommend Rose Cottage for your stay in the Dales, thanks for having us.

Lovely countryside cottage with everything you need.

  • 5 of 5

We went to Rose cottage over bank holiday weekend and had a lovely time. The cottage has everything we needed and very clean and tidy. The kitchen had everything we needed as we made a few meals in the cottage. The location was perfect for us next door to a great pub the wensleydale heffer where we enjoyed a nice meal. We went on a hike up penhill it was steep but we'll worth it for the views. We had a fabulous time I would highly recommend it to anyone else and will definitely be going back ourselves.

A very well equipped cottage in a great location

  • 4 of 5

Excellent facilities, good quality bedding and kitchen appliances/crockery.

Very clean throughout.

Would have appreciated a king size bed as have super king at home but can understand this might be difficult with the stairs.

Would definitely recommend.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for this review - and we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Rose Cottage, notwithstanding the double bed. You are quite right that because it is a very old cottage, it has its constraints, as well as its charms. Please do come again and feel free to use both bedrooms, which are always prepared.
