About Mrs Anita Rendall

The Owners of Rose Cottage live in the Cotswolds and have loved and walked in beautiful Yorkshire for many years. The cottage is managed by local people. Linen and towels are provided by the White Bedding Company.

Why Mrs Anita Rendall chose Hawes

West Witton is a vibrant village with a wonderful restaurant, a real ale pub, village shop and wonderful walking.

We have always loved the market town of Leyburn which is about 2 miles away and has additional good places to eat (The Sandpiper) and a variety of shops to meet all needs.

Access to all the Dales and other places to visit is easy from West Witton.

We found the cottage when visiting the Wensleydale Heifer on a snowy night in 2013 and loved it.

rose cottage is a lovely period cottage with lots of period features. Very well equipped.

We loved our visit to Wensleydale which must be one of the most beautiful of the dales. The only downside was that the cottage got quite cold in the evenigs despite keeping the heating on. Yet it was cosy in the mornings.

Although my son lives in Harrogate I had never been to the north dales before and was most impressed.I am now recommending a visit to my friends.

Owner's Response: Dear Stella, Thank you for this review and we are pleased that you enjoyed our cottage. We are sorry that you were not cosy enough - because most of the downstairs of the cottage has been opened up, it gives space, light and flexibility. However it is perhaps not as cosy as smaller spaces. We have done everything we can to make the cottage warm and comfortable - an effective heating system which can be adjusted in terms of both temperature and timings, powerful wood burner, double glazing, electric damp course and thick curtain over the front door. The cottage dates from the 1720s which, of course, presents challenges as well as charms. We hope you will return to enjoy it again. with kind regards,

Delightful cottage, great location

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a lovely short break between Christmas and New Year and the cottage was cosy even in the freezing temperatures and snow. Great village location and with good food only a stones throw away. Lovely family walks nearby and good sledging too. None of us wanted to leave and wished we could have stayed longer.

Owner's Response: Dear Eleanor, Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our cottage and we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay there. The first time that we saw Rose Cottage was in heavy snow when we were staying locally and my husband was determined to brave the elements and get to the Wensleydale Heifer for a meal. We saw Rose Cottage nearby and liked the fact that it was accessible even in snow. When we visited it, the warmth welcomed us and so glad that you had the same experience. Please come again. With kind regards, Anita Rendall

Lovely, well appointed, well situated cottage in a friendly village, close to two pubs.

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay in Rose Cottage. It is attractively decorated and has all the facilities you need. The owners have created a real home from home for the holiday maker in the Dales. Great village with lots of footpaths and bridleways for walking the dog and the Wensleydale Heifer next door for a treat. The Fox & Hounds down the road is a proper village pub with real ales and a friendly crowd as well as serving food. All in all a really great holiday - thank you Anita and Richard. We will be back!
