The villa is set within 2 acres of rustic land and has great views of the local countryside. Ideal for Painters/Bird watchers/writers. The beautiful sunsets and fabulous night skies can be enjoyed as you sit beside the private pool. The house itself has an open plan lounge/diner with seating for up to a maximum of 6 people (covered by insurance) and a fully equipped kitchen. The lounge area has a wood burner,TV for use with the DVD player, Hi-Fi, various DVD's and CDs are available to use. The house has 3 bedrooms. Outside there are sun loungers, parasols, pool toys and a Charcoal Barbecue plus a small gas barbecue. There is also a covered pagoda where you can sit in the shade and look out at the local scenery. The Alentejo is a very unspoilt and undiscovered area of Portugal. It has so much to offer with interesting countryside that changes with the seasons, the rolling hills dotted with cork, oak trees and olive groves. The fields of wild flowers in the spring, flat plains that are golden brown in the summer heat. There are lakes that offer great fishing opportunities The Barragem de Monte da Rocha is only 15 minutes drive away or if you wish to go a little further there is the 24km Barragem de Santa Clara. There are vineyards that can offer tours and tastings of local wines! Walkers and bird watchers will love this region you can walk for miles along tracks listening to the sounds of the cuckoos, doves, and storks, meander through gentle rolling hills overlooking white washed villages and towns. The West coast of the Alentejo has some stunning beaches and resorts. We would recommend visiting Vila Nova de Milfontes with its safe bathing, golden sandy beach. Milfontes has a number of restaurants serving good seafood. The Algarve with its beaches and shopping areas is not far away around 50 minute drive. Horse riding, quad biking, fishing, canoeing and even hot air ballooning are available locally. The local town of Ourique which can be found only 10 minutes drive away has all the amenities including shops, good supermarkets, banks, atm, cafe's, restaurants, sports facilities etc. Ourique is famous for it's Portuguese black pork which you can try locally details of our recommended restaurants are in the information folder which includes places of interest and activities.
In England we were surrounded by countryside one minute then suddenly surrounded by houses which is not what we wanted.
So we chose to buy enough land to build our own house with enough spare not to be surrounded again and this time in PORTUGAL.
Richard Timberlake purchased this villa in 2011
We visited the Alentejo area one holiday and fell in love with it.
We looked at various different locations but Enchalo and the surrounding area we felt was for us.
Then we visited the local cafe where we were welcomed by the locals.
We had the property built to our own specifications as the children are grown up and now have their own children and where we could fly into Faro and collect a car and be there within an hour or so.
Peace is what we wanted and peace is what we got!!
Peace, quiet and tranquillity.
Away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
We had an amazing holiday, chilling by the pool enjoying the panoramic views, playing in the pool with our boys. Richard, Maxine and Aurther couldn't have been more helpful, advising on restaurants, a medical centre when my mum felt poorly. For our first visit to Portugal we could not have wished for a nicer villa or local people.
We have just enjoyed 2 weeks here with our 20 year old daughter.
The villa itself is very clean. The beds are comfortable and there is hot water on demand. It is in a rural setting with great views of the countryside, and not overlooked at all.
Despite feeling so out in the country, the supermarket is only a short drive away and we tended to go there most days for fresh food. We liked the drive along tracks and country roads to "Pingo Doce" and saw storks on their nests en route.
The weather was hot (40 degrees some days) and so spent a lot of time in the excellent swimming pool.
Most evenings were spent cooking and eating, and then relaxing in front of the DVD player as there was a vast selection of films to choose from.
Before going to bed we watched the night sky and shooting stars, as it was still nice and warm outside.
We had a very peaceful and relaxing holiday and we all enjoyed it.
We would very much like to return to this villa again.
We had an amazing 7 days in this lovely villa which really was like a home from home. The owner , Richard, has thought of everything and our family of 4 had a wonderful time exploring the local area and days by the pool.
Thank you for such a fabulous stay and we really hope to come back very soon!

This is perfect spot if you and your family are looking for a peaceful and ultra relaxing holiday. In the heart of Portugal . With it's own very large pool and central to a range of excellent genuinely traditional restaurants it has everything. Have stayed here twice and can't wait to return. My wife nineteen year old daughter and 11 year old son just love the sense of completely getting away from it all and this place is just the location. Perfect
The house is very well equipped and maintained. It is very clean and had eveything we could have possibly needed including lots of family board games which we really enjoyed. Had some difficulties with communication initially but in Portugal the management were great. It's a very peaceful house with great views but further out than we thought. It's a good 15 minutes drive to Ourique and 90 minutes to the West Coast and 2 hours to Lisbon. The last 3k of roads to the property are unmade and in parts were a struggle for our hire car fully laden with family and cases. The drains in both bathrooms smell. The management thought it was because the house hadn't been used but the smell was still there at the end of our 2 weeks.
Our daughter loved Equus Ourique. Pru and Vicky really looked after her and the riding instruction was first class. We visited a few local restaurants. Of note was the Coimbra where we had a fabulous steak meal and the Villa Italia in Castro Verde.
All in all we had a lovely relaxing holiday.
