Hi Lorna

We have just arrived back in Cornwall. Your apartment was delightful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We seem to have had a hectic time-we went to the opera at Covent Garden (wonderful), the PRB exhibition at the Tate Britain and saw a film at the most luxurious cinema we have ever been to, the Electric Cinema on the Portobello Road! And thankyou for the bottle of wine

Best regards

Mike (Wild)

Dear Lorna,

We wanted to tell you it was a real privilege to stay in your well-appointed apartment! It was exactly 'us', from the lovely dining area to the bath, the artworks, the light! The kitchen was such fun - it had absolutely everything we needed - we may have used all your plates! Best regards Meg (Nowack)

Charming apartment

  • 4 of 5

Notting Hill is a great place to stay with lovely independent cafes and shops on the doorstep, plus a convenient underground (Ladbrook Grove) to the rest of London only a few hundred metres away. Lovely subterranean apartment for two, cosy bedroom with comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen (and cupboards stocked with food), open living room / dining conservatory opening onto small garden which gives lots of light. We didn't sit out in the garden as it was cold in November; although it does give outside space it is right below the main A40 Westway and when we opened the conservatory doors the traffic noise was intrusive. The apartment itself was double glazed, so there was no traffic or other noise at all inside and we slept very well indeed. People with limited mobility should be aware of the steep stairs leading down to the front door which can be tricky in the dark and slippery in Autumn. Overall a very pleasant, clean and well appointed apartment with lots of charm and character. We'd certainly like to stay again, but would avoid booking through Owners Direct as they whop on an extra 6% hidden charge for on-line booking.

Owner's Response: The steps can be tricky but there are outside lights which can be left on when you leave the property so you can see what you are doing when you come back and there is a handrail for those who aren't too steady on their feet. The description of the property does warn that it is not suitable for disabled.

A generously equipped, beautifully presented apartment with interesting art and books. It is very comfortable and the garden was a delight. It is very close to Ladbroke Tube and is well served with Bus routes.

Above all the owner provides invaluable information on the area ,advice on restruants, transport links etc.We often rent apartments and this is among the very best we have experienced. Many thanks Lorna.

Great Location

  • 4 of 5

We had 3 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed it. Situated so close to Ladbroke Grove tube station, the whole of London is in easy reach. The apartment is well furnished and the owner encouraged us to use anything we needed (even including the food cupboards)! There are lots of interesting pictures on the walls and these add to the warm, homely feel of the place. The weather was very hot during our stay and the private garden at the rear was well used. The only reason for not giving 5 stars was the lack of air conditioning in the unusually high temperatures but I would definitely stay again and I've recommended it to all of my friends.

Owner's Response: I have been letting this apartment since 2012 and this very kind review is typical of the reaction from tenants. I have had no complaints at all in the four years I have let this apartment and many repeat bookings. The tenant was at the flat during a very hot week but generally speaking the apartment remains cool because it is a garden flat. I have lived on and off at the apartment and have not found the lack of air conditioning a problem. This is an old building and to install air conditioning for the occasional heatwave would not be practicable. But I will definitely get a fan to cope with exceptionally hot weather. Lorna Bourke

Home Away from Home

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time in this ground floor flat. We especially appreciated the dining room/sunroom that so brightened up the place. We also appreciated how well equipped the kitchen was, both in terms of utensils and food essentials, such as spices, oils etc. Lorna was very helpful in providing advice in getting around. Once we mastered the tube system we had no trouble making our way from this location to Central London. After a hectic day of touring the City, it was wonderful to come back to this little oasis. London Haven

  • 5 of 5

This apartment would have to be one of the best equipped small garden flats in London. It is clean, well maintained and very comfortable. Media streaming services are extensive and include secure WiFi or wired Ethernet, as well as what amounts to full home office facilities if required.

Transport , both bus and tube, is but a short walk away, as are Tesco or Sainsburys metro stores. Portobello Market likewise.

Highly recommend for single or couple.
