About Lorna Bourke

I have been letting the apartment successfully for several years and have plenty of good reviews to share. It has been highly rated by Trip Advisor. Notting Hill London is very convenient and fashionable and the apartment is very near public transport and Portobello Road antiques market.

Lorna Bourke purchased this apartment in 1980

Why Lorna Bourke chose Kensington and Chelsea

I originally bought the apartment for my younger daughter and I lived nearby elsewhere in Notting Hill.

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment in fashionable Notting Hill is completely self contained with a pretty garden and is only a few hundred yards from public transport (Ladbroke Grove tube which is on the Hammersmith & City line - convenient for Heathrow and Heathrow express from nearby Paddington). Buses, taxis, local restaurants and shops (Tesco and Sainsbury's local which are both open until midnight) are only a hundred yards away. The famous Portobello Road antiques market is just one minute's walk and West End theatres and restaurants are no more than a 15 minute tube journey.

The apartment has a wide screen smart TV with Sky Sport HD as well as broadband, Bose CD player and Ipod dock. The kitchen is fully equipped with a separate dining room and a small study. All linen and cleaning is provided.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Lorna

We have just arrived back in Cornwall. Your apartment was delightful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We seem to have had a hectic time-we went to the opera at Covent Garden (wonderful), the PRB exhibition at the Tate Britain and saw a film at the most luxurious cinema we have ever been to, the Electric Cinema on the Portobello Road! And thankyou for the bottle of wine

Best regards

Mike (Wild)

Dear Lorna,

We wanted to tell you it was a real privilege to stay in your well-appointed apartment! It was exactly 'us', from the lovely dining area to the bath, the artworks, the light! The kitchen was such fun - it had absolutely everything we needed - we may have used all your plates! Best regards Meg (Nowack)

Great property, great location, very comfortable and airy.

We loved our stay. Very close to Portabello Market, the tube station, and all of Notting Hill. Very fair pricing and comfortable. Wonderful experience with the property owner who couldn't have been easier to work with. Added features worth noting are the glass roofed eating area and the cute garden out the back. We would without a doubt recommend this VRBO and will try to use it again on our next trip to London.

5-night stay Dec/Jan. Lovely flat, clean, well furnished, modern bathroom, well equipped kitchen and the books and music make it a home from home. The garden would be lovely in summer. Location is excellent with shops, restaurants, Portobello Rd and the tube station on the doorstep. Also convenient bus to city centre sights and shopping. The owner was very helpful and the arrangements for the key make the flat accessible whatever the time of arrival

This spacious, beautifully furnished and well-equipped flat is conveniently located only a few minutes' walk from Portobello road and a tube station. The garden outlook is welcome in a busy city,. Thoroughly recommended!

Charming apartment

  • 4 of 5

Notting Hill is a great place to stay with lovely independent cafes and shops on the doorstep, plus a convenient underground (Ladbrook Grove) to the rest of London only a few hundred metres away. Lovely subterranean apartment for two, cosy bedroom with comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen (and cupboards stocked with food), open living room / dining conservatory opening onto small garden which gives lots of light. We didn't sit out in the garden as it was cold in November; although it does give outside space it is right below the main A40 Westway and when we opened the conservatory doors the traffic noise was intrusive. The apartment itself was double glazed, so there was no traffic or other noise at all inside and we slept very well indeed. People with limited mobility should be aware of the steep stairs leading down to the front door which can be tricky in the dark and slippery in Autumn. Overall a very pleasant, clean and well appointed apartment with lots of charm and character. We'd certainly like to stay again, but would avoid booking through Owners Direct as they whop on an extra 6% hidden charge for on-line booking.

Owner's Response: The steps can be tricky but there are outside lights which can be left on when you leave the property so you can see what you are doing when you come back and there is a handrail for those who aren't too steady on their feet. The description of the property does warn that it is not suitable for disabled.
