2 Draycott Hall is an attractive, two bedroomed, ground floor holiday apartment set in the picturesque hamlet of Fremington in Swaledale between the popular villages of Reeth and Grinton in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales . This welcoming holiday apartment overlooks the craggy hillside of Harkerside and is perfectly situated to explore the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The apartment has recently been tastefully refurbished to a high standard whilst retaining much of the Yorkshire Dales charm.

We have gone to great lengths to ensure our holiday apartment has all the home comforts so that guests have a relaxing ‘home from home’ holiday experience in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The apartment boasts a very spacious layout with high ceilings and much of the original features have been restored. The living room is very spacious with large sash windows giving views to Harkerside over the top of the Draycott Hall garden walls. The property benefits from being on ground floor level with only two steps within the Bathroom.

The living room is decorated in neutral colours, with a large multi-fuel stove (for logs and solid fuel) which adds to the warm and welcoming charm of this individual apartment. The living area seats four people very comfortably in front of the large sash windows and is a perfect place to relax after a day of adventure and exploration in the Yorkshire Dales. The Multi-fuel stove also adds additional heating should it be required to the modern, state of the art, electronic radiators throughout the holiday home.

There is an interconnecting door leading from the living room into the spacious kitchen again with full length sash windows which creates a light and airy room, there is a second door leading into the hallway. Tucked away in the kitchen is all the equipment you should require to whip up some culinary delights, and ample workspace to do so. However, if it is a night off from cooking you are after, then the local pub, The Bridge Inn, is approximately a few minutes’ walk away and offers great food and some fantastic local ales.

The master double bedroom with king size bed and twin bedroom are found at the end of the apartment hallway. The master bedroom is light and airy, neutrally decorated and boasts large sash windows with shutters with views to Harkerside. Next door is the twin bedroom which can be turned into a second double bedroom should it be required with a super king size bed. The modern, family bathroom is located down the hallway opposite the living room.

This spacious and comfortable Yorkshire Dales holiday apartment provides excellent accommodation and base for a family or a groups of friends wishing to explore the Yorkshire Dales and surrounding area. The location is ideal for walkers and cyclists as there are many walks and bridle paths located nearby. The apartment also offers secure bike storage.

2 Draycott Hall is one of our dog friendly holiday homes, one to two well behaved dog welcome. There are a number of dog friendly pubs in the area and plenty of dog friendly walks close by which make this dales holiday apartment an ideal choice if you are looking for pet friendly accommodation.

To ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible all bed linen and towels are provided. The electricity and initial supply of logs and solid fuel is included in the rental price

We accept week booking Saturday to Saturday and short breaks Monday to Friday and Friday to Monday. However, if you are interested in booking a break that is on a different arrival day please call Hannah on 01748 900 420 as we can often be flexible on the arrival days.

About Chris & Liz

We came here on retirement from our own business. We knew the area well because we had been coming here for years. We used to come to Liz’s uncle’s holiday cottage in High Fremington and her brother’s cottage in Low Row.

Liz’s father was born in the Black Bull, Reeth which his parents owned and ran as did several previous generations on his mother’s side. The photographs in the hall of our apartment show her grandmother, great grandfather and great-great grandfather together outside the Black Bull.

Our eldest son, Andrew, is the landlord of the Bridge Inn, Grinton and has been for over ten years now. He came to stay with us and ended up taking over our local! We help out occasionally, Liz typically with the puddings and cooking breakfast, me on the bar and as the odd job man!

Why Chris & Liz chose Yorkshire Dales

We bought this apartment a few years ago for our youngest son, Ian and his wife, Lisa, to live in. He was a chef at the Bridge Inn at the time. They moved out the end of 2013 to start up a new restaurant in Billingham, The Peppermill Bistro, with his father-in-law.

We liked this apartment from the start. It has a period country house feel. It is relatively spacious and yet has a warm ambience. The big windows make it light and airy and it gets more sunshine than so many other properties and tractive outlook yet is sheltered from the prevailing wind. We decided to turn it into a holiday home and feel we might one day live in it if our present home and garden become too much for us.

What makes this apartment unique

We love the relative quietness and variation of attractive scenery of this part of the Yorkshire Dales. We also love the labyrinth of footpaths which offer a greater variety of walks than many other areas and allow walks to be shortened or lengthened depending on mood or weather.

Perfect location, perfectly comfortable

We stayed with two adults and two kids and a lab and there was more than enough room - the whole place is incredibly spacious and it was clean. The sofa's in the lounge were so comfortable and perfect to flop into after long walks. The beds were comfy and there was everything we needed for our stay. The Reeth show was on at the time and it was a fantastic location as we could just walk to the show, come back and have lunch and then return to the show without having to sort out parking.

However, there was a bit of poetic licence used in the description of secure bike storage as the shed was really not secure and I wasn't happy leaving my expensive bike in there (this was the only slight draw back). The pubs in Reeth are all within walking distance and it is an excellent base for a lot of round walks around that area.

Would we recommend? Definitely ...

Always excellent

This is our fourth stay at the property and every time has been excellent, nothing is too much trouble and the home made cakes,bread, marmalade etc. have always hit the spot. The property is very well maintained and in our opinion lacks for nothing. The location is excellent with one of the best pubs in the dales is but a stones throw away (The Bridge), great food,great beer and brilliant people. We love this property and we will definitely be back for further visits.

Lovely period apartment, well worth a stay!

Lovely apartment with many period features. Welcome pack of homemade bread, fruit cake and marmalade along with basic supplies of tea, coffee, milk etc was much appreciated after a long journey from Northern Scotland. The property was warm, clean, well maintained and equipped and the owners friendly and helpful. The location is excellent with the surrounding hills, moors and river on the doorstep yet the lovely village of Reeth just five to ten minutes walk away for further provisions, cafes etc. There is a brilliant country pub in Grinton just five minutes walk away which does excellent bar meals and has a lovely friendly atmosphere. It is a great location for dog owners as there are numerous walks straight from the door of the apartment without the need of a car and the pub is also dog friendly. Mountain bike can also be hired only a few minutes down the road. Looking forward to returning soon would definitely recommend!

Yorkshire Bliss

We arrived to find a beautiful spacious apartment in a grand house with many unique and and quaint features.

The owners had kindly left a welcome pack of delicious homemade bread,cake and marmalade to start us off on the right foot.

The apartment was very well equipped throughout with all mod cons and was very comfortable.

As always though when renting holiday accommodation there are a few things that should be better,one was the electric shower which gave scolding hot water one minute and icy cold the next with a miserable flow but our main gripe was the electric heating settings are not high enough for the very cold windy weather so when you light the stove in living room the radiators go off until temperature drops to 19 degrees so you get cool again which is not good enough for elderly people.These two points are the only reason we could not give this property 5*.

The local pubs in Grinton and Reeth all allow dogs and serve really good food and ale.

All in all a very good experience.
