About the property

Cottage in Whitwell, Nr. Ventnor, Isle of Wight, England - On The Edge Of a Country Village

2 Primrose Villas is a delightful Victorian double-fronted property on the edge of the pretty village of Whitwell. Just 3 miles from Ventnor, one of the Islands premier resorts, the cottage is well placed to allow visits to all of the local attractions or an ideal place just to chill out and get away from it all.

The cottage is furnished and decorated in a style that enhances its history with stripped oak floors in several rooms and a working open fire in the living room. Electric heating is provided for the cooler months so you’re assured of total home-from-home comfort all year round.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We stayed here over the Christmas period for an 80th birthday celebration. Our party consisted of young children, teenagers and elderly parents. The owner couldn't have been more welcoming. There were decorations and a tree already put up, logs and kindling for the fire and a welcome pack when we arrived. The house itself is lovely, the housekeeper is extremely friendly and helpful - we had a wonderful time there. The village is peaceful and the nearby facilities are excellent. We fully intend to book this property again and I would recommend it highly (Dec 2013)

-------

A great location to explore the Isle of W. The local pub is within walking distance and serves really good food. All amenities you could want! Really comfortable beds and a great little courtyard garden to enjoy some al fresco dining. Would highly recommend. There is also space for two cars

-----

The owner has thought of everything you might need. The patio created a sunny spot for breakfast. Recommend it highly.

Lovely cottage for relaxing by the open fire.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is surprisingly spacious and easily accommodated four adults and two teenagers.

It's in easy reach of great deserted beaches, lots of local attractions and plenty of good walking.

We really enjoyed long relaxing evenings in front of the fire.

Those who manage and look after the cottage were very helpful and I would recommend it heartily.

Small but perfectly proportioned

A gorgeous little cottage in Whitwell, we stayed here with my mother and 18 month old daughter and loved it. Everything you could need from a holiday property, very handy location for the best bits of the island. Would happily go back.

Comfy cottage

  • 5 of 5

Warm welcome. Milk, wine, biscuits etc were a treat. Courtyard ample for sitting in sun. Beds were comfy. Hot shower. Instant heater in bathroom was good for chilly times. Kitchen was fully equipped. Enjoyed exploring the island with the dog. Would recommend the cottage. Only point is the staircase is quite steep if mobility is a problem.

Tranquil Family Stay

  • 5 of 5

We were a family of four staying in this lovely cottage over Easter. The facilities are excellent and as other user reviewers have mentioned it is homely and well equipped. We enjoyed making a log fire; all the logs and fire lighters were provided. The cottage is set away from the road and is extremely quiet, we even managed to sleep through the storm that recorded winds of 105 mph at the Needles. The beds are comfortable and the children took advantage of the games that are available; Isle of Wight monopoly no less. The Isle of Wight is a great place for a family break and we prefer this south part of the Island; the walk down to Steephill Cove is a great find ( this is just up from Ventnor beach). Highly recommended.

Great Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Having stayed in many holiday cottages over the years we have to say that this is probably the most homely and well equipped we have ever stayed in. It is just like walking into your own home with everything you could need. As we stayed over Christmas the owner had even put Christmas decorations up , little touches like this make all the difference. We would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage if you want a quiet relaxing stay in a peaceful location.

Beautiful Cottage with Every Convenience

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful cottage in the centre of the village but only 3 miles from the wonderful beaches of Ventnor. The cottage has every concenience although it still retains many of it's original Victorian features; we particularly liked the open fire which made in really warm and cosy. Although we were there for October half-term there were still so many things to see and do on the Island we were spoiled for choice. It's an easy walk from the cottage to the village pub which serves excellent and reasonably priced food and is highly recommended. The housekeeper, Lynne, was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for her. We would come again at any time of year and would recommend the cottage for couples, families and groups of friends.
