It has a light and airy open plan living/dining area with a cosy wood-burning stove and farmhouse style kitchen. A glass gable opens out onto a sunny terrace, with outdoor furniture and BBQ. There is a double bedroom downstairs and a shower/WC. There are two twin-bedded rooms upstairs and a bathroom with WC. Mooring and jetty available, fishing is available free of charge from our ground or from boats launched from our slipway, water sports, 20 golf courses within an hour's drive, National Cycle Route 7 and Rob Roy track nearby. Dogs welcome. The area is surrounded by mountains, and wildlife.

About the Owner

My husband Gus is a well-kent Lochearnhead local, a fourth-generation hospitality business owner in the area. He is passionate about the history and development of the village, as well as being actively involved in the organisation of the Sheep Shearing and is President of the Lochearnhead Highland Games. His father was a champion Highland Games Athlete, and starred in the locally filmed, "Geordie"

His interests include Mountain Rescue, golf, stalking and watersports, so he is a mine of information on these subjects.

I moved here from Edinburgh, 25 years ago, so am almost a local! I enjoy skiing and cycling, especially on the stunning Route 7 cycle track, have climbed all the most local Munros and help in the organisation of the various social events in and around the village.

What a find. The Barn is wonderful. We had a relaxing break - what a great way to bring in the New Year!

Just what the doctor ordered, peace and quiet in lovely surroundings. Very proud that we completed the 8 mile walk. Much enjoyed, thanks.

We've been very comfortable in the Barn, it's warm, bright and well laid out. Good week of walking and relaxing. Thanks.

Great house in a fantastic setting

  • 4 of 5

The Barn is a beautiful house with great views of the mountains, the house is clean and well maintained and the owner was attentive to ensure that we had everything we needed. There are ample walks and cycle tracks nearby, and it is a great location for touring the surrounding area.

A couple of points of note are that the house sits on the main road and it is not safe to walk on the road, however the property is fenced off and safe for children and dogs, also you are not aware of the traffic noise as the double glazing is very effective.

The electricity is charged by the unit and this can be expensive.

My only negative point and hence the 4 stars instead of 5, is that we found the beds to be very hard and uncomfortable, we couldn't manage a good nights sleep and this spoiled the experience for us.
