Villa in Caminha, Viana do Castelo, Costa Verde, Portugal - Peaceful Location, 3.5 Kms To Caminha Centre

Located in a secluded valley, overlooking fields, hills and village houses. Adjoining the house are forested hills with walking trails. It is in a rural area, with farms and villages, a few km from the charming and historic town of Caminha. The Coura and Minho rivers are very close by and sandy beaches between Moledo and Afife are a short drive away. Inland, the Arga mountain and other hills are good walking country, and just across the Minho river (reached by a little ferry in Caminha or the bridge in Cerveira) is the province of Galicia in Spain with its indented coastline of bays, beaches and sea-side towns.

I've stayed with my family at Casa da Calçada for the New Year's and I was overwhelmed first of all with the surroundings and mostly by the house conditions. With an extraordinary contemporary architecture, the house has everything a family needs to enjoy a very pleasant stay. The decoration is very up to date and comfortable. All the amenities are in a very good condition, ready to use and most of all, the cleanses of everything. I recommend strongly both for a romantic stay as well as for amazing family holiday. We'll be definitely back for the summer break! (2/Jan/2014

Architectural gem in a beautiful location

We spent 2 weeks here with our 3 boys during August 2017. We knew the area, and so knew that the house was close to Caminha - a delightful town by the sea. There is a huge beach backed by pinewoods just outside Caminha. Locally, Braga, Guimares, Valenca and Santiago are gorgeous.

Its the house however thats the surprising gem here. Its very carefully designed. The main lounge area easy converts to an "outside room" with the doors open. Its built so that the sun doesn't shine in and the room get too hot. There are beautiful wooden floors and carefully considered bedrooms. We didn't need the air conditioning whilst we were there.

The pictures suggest the pool will be small. Thats not true. Its a good size and depth. The garden around it is large and great for children.

We spent a great deal of our time just enjoying this architectural gem.

Comfortable modern villa, peaceful not isolated

We had a wonderful week here relaxing in this stylish, modern villa.

Great location as private and peaceful but only a short walk to bars, restaurant, shops and beach and a short drive to hypermarket, towns and beaches. Can walk out from villa into open countryside.

Very obliging and helpful owner. Nothing too much trouble.

Four rather than five stars as needed more food storage space, an inventory check in the kitchen e.g.more glasses and mugs and sun loungers were ripped - all things easily remedied. Watch out for the sprinklers!

Would recommend/go back.

A fantastic holidays

We stayed here at very short notice and couldn't have asked for better weather and location. The owner and the manager were welcoming and friendly with excellent customer service.

With an extraordinary contemporary architecture,The villa looks good in the photos and living in it does not disappoint. A good quality holiday home that together with the sunshine make for a good holiday.

We wished we were staying for longer than a week!

Disappointed

Lovely modern property that was let down by not being particularly clean, (mould in bathroom etc) maid seemed oblivious to it. We bought bleach to sort it out. Some of the garden furniture was ripped to shreads, by a dog we were told. Dog or cat faeces all over the parking area which we had to remove. No extra pillows available for guests who wanted more than one. We like Caminha and this was our second trip to the area, but overall were disappointed with this villa and the lack of concern the maid & owner expressed. For the cost of the rental we expected higher standards. I discussed the damaged garden furniture with the owner who told me it was expensive to replace ! We are unlikely to return.

I would just like to clarify some of the aspects you have mentioned. I have the property published in two sites: homeaway and ownersdirect and I have never received any bad comment on the property cleaning and hygiene. Refrying to your second comment I would like to tell you I wasn´t aware of the mold in the bathroom. I’m so really sorry for that and the situation is already fixed. Regarding the garden furniture, as I told you over the phone, I was abroad and unfortunately there was nothing I could do immediately as the garden furniture is definitely expensive (not being the reason for not changing it immediately) but because the maid didn’t have the means to replace it since it can only be found in Porto. I may have been shredded by a cat or a dog from outside the property. As you know, as well as regarding the animal fesses, I cannot prevent it to happen since a cat or a dog can easily enter the property, even not invited. I have no pets. Regarding the pillows, I took good note of your comment and already supplied the property with some extra ones. Thank you once more for the suggestion. However, there is something I found quite weird and you did not mention on your comment. The Lamp in the leaving room was missing when I returned to the property after your stay. Location

Special interest holidays:

Although not courses, this is a super area for those who enjoy local and regional culture. The historic towns have outdoor markets on different days of the week (for example, Caminha on Wednesday, Cerveira on Saturday). Small restaurants abound, from the rustic and simple to the refined and contemporary, and they are generally very reasonable in price. Between the Spring and Autumn, folkloric, medieval and food festivals take place. Come in the Summer months for the Saints' festivals in the villages and towns around. Porto and Vigo cities, both within easy reach by car, are great day trips. Don't miss the Port cellars in Porto and the seafood restaurants in Vigo.

Coast/Beach:

The nearest beach is Moledo (about 3,5 Kms) and south is Vila Praia de Ancora with its nice restaurants and ecovia to Gelfa over the dunes where you can make great rides..

Travel:

Approx 1 hr drive from Porto airport, via A28 motorway (direction Viana do Castelo then Caminha). To explore and for ease of access we recommend bringing a car (although there is also a train from Porto to Caminha and along the river). Located behind the village of Seixas, 3km from Caminha. Address: Rua Calçada do Vale, 4910-339 SEIXAS, Caminha, Minho. GPS 41º 53’ 32” N, 008º 48’ 38” W. If required, directions will be given by owner after booking.

Further Details:

Seixas is situated approximately 3 km of Caminha.

The house is situated in the village centre, but with total privacy. It is surrounded with walls and have park for two cars.

The area is completely calm, completely safe and can walk the walk at ease.

For shopping in the village you do not need to drive, but to go to the beach is convenient to have a car.

A few minutes of the House you have the Railway station, pharmacy, medical centre, supermarkets, banks and MB, shops, etc.

The River Minho, border Caminha and Spain (la Guardia) where you can go, using the ferry.

The nearest beach is Moledo (about 3,5 Kms) and south is Vila Praia de Ancora with its nice restaurants and ecovia to Gelfa over the dunes where you can make great rides..

Further south (20 kms) is the beautiful city of Viana do Castelo.

Walking at north, you find Cerveira (12 kms), land of the arts. In Cerveira have a successful outdoor market (Saturdays). Further up is Valença with its walls, and already over there, is Tuy.
