Follow the river to find Y Felin – a beautifully converted 16C water mill in the breathtaking Dysynni Valley and Snowdonia National Park, in Wales. Lying beneath the majestic mountain of Cadair Idris and within walking distance of Tal y Llyn lake, this 5 star quality self catering property is set into the hillside and boasts a peaceful and secluded riverside location. Sympathetically restored to retain its distinctive features, the surroundings are light, airy and welcoming. It has a fully equipped kitchen. You will be greeted by a gourmet welcome gift. There is a great open plan living space with large, comfy sofas, a wood burner, picture windows onto the stunning landscape and lots of games for all ages. The house can sleep 8 guests. The master bedroom has private access to the river and a wood-burner making it incredibly romantic. Nearby are thriving historic market towns, and the seaside town of Aberdyfi with its miles of sandy beaches, outdoor activities and yachting. About Sarah Watkins

My name is Ruth and I own Bryn Adda and Y Felin. I grew up in the area and have a deep love of the land and locality and the diversity it offers and a wish to help others to enjoy this. Sarah Watkins, part of my great team, will manage your booking from start to finish and she is only too happy to answer any questions you have about my houses or about the local area.

Why Sarah Watkins chose Abergynolwyn

Y Felin was originally a working watermill used for grinding corn. It is situated on farmland which belonged to my parents and when the farm was passed to me in 2009, I made the decision to restore this beautiful house using local materials and offer it as a holiday let to those seeking some peace. It’s location next to the river and in front of the mountain make it a wonderful retreat and my family and I often come here. The house is still surrounded by working farmland which is managed by our estate manager as we now live on a smaller farm near Monmouth.

Notes on accommodation: Y Felin is a haven away from wifi and television. Surrounded by nature, there is plenty to do and see for all ages. We offer a welcome gift. Pets are welcome, though an additional charge may be applied. Outside: The mill is accessed via the family farm and has its own garden of approximately 2 acres with direct access into the mountainous landscape of Cadair Idris. The river runs right past the house so salmon and trout fishing is possible with prior consent if you bring your own rods. You can also walk to the peaceful Tal Y Llyn lake from the house. There is an outdoor patio with assorted furniture and a fire pit for those wishing to have a camp-fire. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Luxurious linens, towels and luxury dressing gowns are included in the price. The linen can be changed and the house cleaned on a weekly basis if requested. Other: There is a large hall perfect for keeping walking boots etc and a small room on the upper floor which provides privacy and a beautiful outlook or alternatively can be used for storage.

Another great stay at Y Felin

Recently spent another long weekend at Y Felin, the 4th year in a row we've visited and there's a good reason why we keep coming back - it's superb. The house is spacious and impeccably clean, the location is great in that it's a bit away from it all, but not too far should you need anything. All in all the nicest place I've stayed in in Wales.

Fantastic weekend away.

We stayed here in late November.

First of all let's look at the pros of staying here:

Y Felin is set in an idyllic location with easy access to local walks. We did two walks while we were here. The first was around a lake just up the road from Y Felin. Our second walk was Cadair Idris.

Both of these walks are very close by and definitely worth doing.

Y Felin is very well kept and decorated to a high standard.

There is plenty of space for everyone. In our party there were 4 adults, 2 children and 3 dogs.

It is well equipped for anything. In the kitchen there is a selection of spices and herbs. There is also fresh ground coffee and tea ready to be used.

We had a lot of fun playing with the board games that were there. The children also enjoyed playing with the big bucket of lego and various other toys that were there.

The wood burner in the living room was fantastic with plenty of wood for the fire.

There is an honesty freezer at the mill. We bought the biggest leg of lamb I have ever seen in my life from this freezer for our Sunday dinner.

There was no internet, no tv and no phone signal. It was lovely! So relaxing. However there is a phone in Y Felin incase anyone needs to use it. There is also a sound system that you can plug your phone into and play whatever is on your playlist. There is also a selection of cds.

So on to the cons:

Well there aren't any.

We had a fantastic stay at Y Felin and I would highly recommend it to anyone fancying a trip away to North Wales. I only wished that we stayed longer than 3 nights. Looking forward to visiting again sometime in 2017. Oh and the lemon cake that was there waiting for us when we arrived was stunning. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Beautiful house at breathtaking location

It was absolutely lovely! The house is very beautiful and complete. There was nothing missing and services were extremely good! Stunning surroundings with exquisite scenery! Price for the house was good and worth every penny! We will definately go again.

Stunning Location.

Stayed here for a long weekend in July.Unfortunately the weather was very wet but the property and location were delightful.Very comfortably furnished and great outdoor space if the weather was good! Stunning scenery and a walkers paradise.Nearby beautiful beaches and interesting towns and activities.Thoroughly recommend.

A heavenly retreat for dogs and their owners

A wonderful place to stay with dogs. The dogs were free to walk off leads (as they are very well behaved) over 2000 acres. No two walks the same and the views are breath taking. The secure garden is valuable as the dogs are safe to potter around. The cottage is warm, comfortable and tastefully decorated. We would certainly love to go again next year. Thank you

fabulous getaway

beautiful property in beautiful surroundings although away from hustle and bustle of things all places of interest and amenities are all close by via car . Always great service would highly recommend have been staying at this farm for many years and since mill was converted since it opened have returned every year . Highly recommended
