Stunning, Country house Set In Beautiful, Extensive Grounds

Overview

Property

Updated: 20-Oct-2016
Country house in Dolgellau, Snowdonia National Park, North Wales - Secluded Location, Yet Near Market Town, Beaches And Mountains

Bryn Adda is a very special, relaxing retreat for families, groups of friends or colleagues, and perfect for celebrations. The farmhouse has recently been carefully restored blending tradition with ultimate modern comfort. Each room has been individually designed in colours and textures that reflect the landscape, history and surroundings complimented by antiques and beautiful British handcrafted furniture. The house largely runs on green energy and we work on very environmentally ethical principles. There is an honesty freezer with our own organic, grass fed meat from our farm, plus a selection of award winning Trealy Farm Charcuterie alongside the gourmet welcome gift. The kitchen is a cook's delight, well equipped with breadmaker and Aga, for instance. Enjoy meals at the kitchen table or around the bespoke hand crafted table which seats 18 in the dining room. There are three spaces for relaxation, the more formal, spacious sitting room with open fire and beautiful antique furniture which looks out onto the gardens, a lounge complete with comfy sofas, television and wood burner, plus access to the garden and our separate games room with home cinema. Children are well catered for with cots and highchairs and plenty of space to roam in safety. Ideally situated within easy reach of the beach (Fairbourne and Barmouth are the nearest), the mountains (Cadair Idris) and the amazing Mawddach Trail, the house is secluded and set in stunning grounds yet within a mile of the thriving market town of Dolgellau. The grounds are huge, the garden is beautiful; expansive lawns and plenty of shady space to explore plus an outdoor barbecue and seating space for eating outdoors. There is a wood fired sauna with shower. We also have table tennis plus a good selection of outdoor and indoor games, DVDs, magazines, local maps and our own suggestions for itineraries.

absolutely amazing

  • 5 of 5

We were all absolutely stunned with this property and grounds. There were 17 of us and we all like to get together before Xmas as we cant all be together on the day. We stayed in one last year and thought that was good but this one well it was amazing. Such a beautifull house every room was huge it went on for ever. We even had family visit from Barmouth for the day and the house was still big enough for us all. It was so well equipped and everything was well made and really thought out. Dining table was brilliant. The grounds (estate) were fantastic, loved the fire pit and BBq area. The kids spent time climbing trees, making dens and just loving the woodland walks (no roads nearby). It really was spectacular. Will definetly return. Cant stop telling people how amazing it was. Only 1 niggle was that we thought the ground floor bedroom was leval but you had to go up 5 stairs or go outside to get in. Its a seperate annex but not disabled friendly to get in or out. Big congratulations to the owners for making this a lovely home. We have all taken back some lovely memories. Thank you.

Amazing building, great location, lovely grounds

  • 5 of 5

Even before we arrived the team were more than helpful. Driving up the private road and seeing the building and hearing everyone say wow said it all! This was the perfect place for 4 families to stay for a long weekend.

The grounds were kept very nicely, log fires inside and in the garden, sheep in the nearby fields. Perfect.

The building was amazing, lots of rooms, spread out well enough that you got some piece and quiet from the kids!! And the adults could stay up without waking them. The sauna building, games room, dining room, lounges provided us with plenty of room.

We loved our stay and a big thanks to the team for making it a great 40th surprise weekend, they even baked us a cake!

Stunning house and gardens and fabulous weekend!

  • 5 of 5

The 14 of us had an absolutely fantastic weekend at Bryn Adda. The house itself and its setting is stunning with very comfortable accommodation for all. The cake left for us was excellent and enormous and everything about the house and grounds was exactly as described on the website if not better. We had a couple of great meals with all 14 of us round the table in the dining room and finished with a barbecue on the Sunday. The weather could not have been better either with wall to wall sunshine for the entire time we were there. It just started to spot with some rain as we were leaving on Monday morning. If you recall the whole purpose of the weekend was for the whole family to be together to celebrate my Mum & Dad’s 60th weeding anniversary and they enjoyed it so much that they are still talking about it to the wider family and their friends. They are already asking if we can do the same thing next year so how’s that for a couple of very positive and active 84 year olds!

To conclude then, an excellent weekend at a beautiful house in a stunning part of Wales and 14 happy punters!

A most enjoyable holiday

  • 5 of 5

We (five couples) thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Bryn Adda. The house is lovely - clean, spacious and character-full - and the grounds absolutely gorgeous. The rhododendrons were in full bloom and provided a glorious backdrop, whether seen through one of the windows looking out at the garden or closer from a garden chair. The lemon cake that greeted us on our arrival was heavenly.

House big enough for our large brood 😀

  • 4 of 5

A lovely old and quirky property popular with young and old with lots to delight both in and out. The bedrooms were all different with their own character and the most comfortable beds too😀 The garden and countryside were amazing - not so the Welsh weather😔 We made the most of the weekend even some of our party biking in the rain and Grandma loved the sauna- thank you

Location

From the Owner

Bryn Adda was my childhood home and was the central hub of our traditional Snowdonian hill farm. I lived there with my father who was a vet and farmer and my mother who was a midwife. In 2009, when the farm was passed to me, I made the decision to restore this grand Welsh farmhouse retaining some of the traditional features of a working farmhouse whilst adding some real luxury, using some of my treasured family antiques and supplementing them with British handcrafted pieces. The result is stunning and my family and I regularly enjoy holidaying there and having the opportunity to offer others the possibility of using this as a luxurious haven. The house is still surrounded by working farmland which is managed by our farm manager as we now have a smaller farm near Monmouth.
