About the property

one double bedroom apartment top floor of Barn in gorgeous countryside

The holiday accommodation was converted out of the top floor of The Barn in 2012. It offers an attractive and comfortable one double bedroom apartment situated a short distance from the main house but completely independent. It is set in idyllic countryside overlooking beautiful park and woodland about 2 miles from the nearest hamlet and 5 miles from the nearest town, Bishops Castle. Perfect for romantics, walkers, bird watchers or people who just want peace and quiet and to hear the owls and see clear skies at night. There are excellent pubs a short drive away and 2 Michelin starred restaurants in the area. Other attractions include hang gliding off the Long Mynd, cycling, music, food and arts festivals. The Shropshire Way is on the doorstep and Offa's Dyke, the Long Mynd and the Stiperstones within easy reach. The beautiful Georgian town of Ludlow is half an hour's drive and Shrewsbury with its fine buildings, restaurants and shops, about 40 minutes. Medieval Stokesay Castle and the famous gardens at Powys Castle are a short drive and the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site is about 30 miles away.

Why did we wait a year to come back? Just as lovely. We love it here.

Cosy apartment, lovely quiet location

  • 4 of 5

Warm welcome in a lovely barn apartment. Lots to do, we walked to the Stiperstones, visited Bishops Castle for lunch, and Powis Castle with it lovely gardens. A very relaxing few days just what we needed.

Lovely idyllic property and location. Unbelievably quiet.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I wanted somewhere stress free, quiet, clean and remote, and boy did we come up trumps. This stay hit all the areas we could have asked. Unbelievably quiet, all bar (excuse the pun) the bleating of sheep and young lambs, and the mooing of the odd cow.

It was a lovely touch to be greeted with fresh scones, and a packed stove ready to go, just needing to be lit.

This is the first time we’ve done this type of break, we didn’t know what to expect, and we’ve come away relaxed, totally enjoying the experience.

Thank you again for a lovely time, and we hope to return very soon.
