Guestbook comments from the owner

We loved the house and convenient location, perfect for a multi - generation get-together. We had a very nice meal at The Scotsman's Pack - good food and warm welcome. For the little ones we can recommend Chatsworth Farm and Adventure Playground - brilliant! Thanks again for the home made cake.

Probably the best stay we have ever had in Hathersage. Accommodation is very comfortable and spacious, Favourite activities have to include cycling The Monsal Trail down to Bakewell. We can recommend the Plough for fantastic food.

Comfortable, spacious cottage in excellent location.

  • 5 of 5

A weeks stay in Hathersage for a family of 6 adults and 2 children who live in Edinburgh and London. We were looking for something to suit all age groups which was roughly half way between both so that we could spend a week together as a family.

The cottage itself catered for all our needs it is very hard well equipped and is very spacious and with 3 bathrooms means everyone has there own bath/shower.

As we had a 5 year old and a baby we ate in 6 out of 7 nights and there is sufficient cooking facilities as well as plenty cupboard and fridge/freezer space.

There is something in the surrounding areas for all age groups including lovely walks, outdoor pool, children's theme parks and lots of beautiful towns to visit all within a short drive. Many cafes, pubs and restaurants to choose from if you want to eat out.

The highlight for the adults was a visit to Chatsworth House but there was lots for the children to do there as well.

We will definately return to Hathersage again in the future we loved it.

Perfect for our family reunion

  • 5 of 5

Topcroft Cottage was an ideal place to meet up for a family reunion, with family members travelling from the far north and far south and Hathersage was a perfect spot for exploring the Peaks. We were so lucky with the weather and the lovely big garden was great for ball games and an outdoor picnic. The cottage itself is very spacious and with a large group, there was plenty of room for us all (and 4 loos throughout the cottage also meant no queuing!) The long, large dining table proved perfect for family meals and apart from having one takeaway, we self-catered during our stay and found the kitchen to be very well-stocked. I would imagine the dining room to be fantastic in winter with the fire lit. The living room was very spacious and comfortable. When we needed something replacing in the kitchen, Pip was onto it immediately, problem solved in a jiffy! We would certainly stay at Topcroft again and would have no hesitation in recommending to others.

Great location for family gatherings

  • 4 of 5

We were celebrating our parents 60th wedding anniversary. The property accommodated all ages. The terrace and garden were great in good weather. The large kitchen, dining room, conservatory and first floor lounge provided plenty of space when the weather was less kind. Pip was very helpful, friendly and responsive to our questions. The property is very convenient for Hathersage shops and the outdoor pool. Our only suggestion for improvement is that there were a number of minor maintenance issues which needed attention. We recognise that the cottage is popular and that back to back bookings make it difficult to find opportunities for maintenance to be done, but if a solution could be found, it would make the difference between a very good and an excellent venue.

Fantastic house for a group catchup

  • 5 of 5

Lovely house, right in the centre of Hathersage. Great location for lovely walks and trips to the open air swimming pool. We had a brilliant time and made great use of the garden. There is plenty of space for lots of people and in our case babies. Thank you Pip for a perfect holiday!
