Cosy Grade 2 Listed Cottage on the historic High Street of Wells-Next-The-Sea

Overview

Property

Updated: 19-Nov-2016
2 bed cottage in the heart of Wells-next-the-Sea, walking distance of beach.

Located on the historic high street, Elgin Cottage is just moments from the shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants, 450 yards from the bustling harbour and an easy walk (or v short drive) to the beach. Perfect for a family holiday or a get together with friends it provides the ideal base to explore this stunning area of North Norfolk. The cottage is full of character and furnished to a high standard. The building is on three floors. Downstairs is a well equipped kitchen and a comfortable living room with a fold-out dining table. A door from the kitchen leads to the courtyard garden. Stairs from the living room lead to the master bedroom with views over the High Street. A bathroom with a shower is also on this level. Stairs accessed via a door from the master bedroom lead to a large room with three beds, tucked away at the top of the house. A door from the kitchen leads to a courtyard garden and an outbuilding with a washing machine and tumble drier, toilet and electric shower.

Please note that access to the second bedroom is via the master bedroom. Although the cottage sleeps 5, please bear in mind that the living room is not large, so up to 4 is the ideal number. Families of 5 are very welcome but it is probably not ideal for 3 older children (i.e. teenagers).

NB We are very happy to do short breaks out of the main holiday season, but please ignore the quote Owners Direct give you as they just divide the weekly rate by seven and multiply by the number of days. It doesn't take into account extra cleaning and laundry costs. Please send an enquiry and we will provide a quote. All rates are listed on our website at www.elgincottage.co.uk

Wonderful long weekend in a lovely cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the cottage for a long weekend in the beginning of December and although this might not be the high season we had an amazing time and would have loved to stay longer.

The cottage is extremely well furnished with everything you could want. It has a very cozy feeling and is ideal for couples and families.

The location is great. Wells is a lovely town close to a fantastic beach and surroundings.

There is plenty to do year around and the cottage is within walking distance to several excellent pubs and restaurants. There is also several shops for all necessities close by within walking distance. Parking is also easy.

The owners are incredibly friendly and helpful and we would throughly recommend the cottage . We look forward to coming back .

Holiday in Wells 2015

  • 5 of 5

Our party consisted of three adults ( my daughter, her husband and me) and two children aged 3 1/2 and 16 months.

As soon as we had arrived I knew we had chosen the right property. The cottage was very central to all amenities and only a short walk away from the harbour.

The cottage was beautiful; tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean with absolutely everything provided for our holiday, including a box of toys for the children!

And how thoughtful of the proprietor to supply us with milk and a very welcomed bottle of wine!

We had a wonderful week and were very lucky with the weather. We had trips to Dinosaur World, a ride on the steam train from Holt to Sherringham and, of course several trips to the harbour to go crabbing.

If you wanted to eat out I would thoroughly recommend The Globe, The Golden Fleece and the little deli overlooking the harbour.

Communication with Fiona was excellent ; all emails to her were replied to within hours.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Elgin Cottage and look forward to going back again soon.

Thank you for a wonderful week.

Elgin Cottage, Wells next-to-Sea, Norfolk

  • 5 of 5

Elgin cottage is ideal for a couple or small family who want a holiday or weekend break in one of North Norfolk's most beautiful towns.

It's a charming cottage full of character. The cottage is well equiped and very cosy. Perfect for small children!

Located in the heart of the town it is perfect for walking around town, hanging out in cafes and also looking around beautiful gift shops. Great restaurants and fantastic fish and chips!

It is possible to walk to Wells beach which is just stunning and Holkham beach is a five minute drive. There is so much to do in the surrounding areas it makes this an ideal spot!

We will hopefully be returning very soon!

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Just (sadly!) returned from a short break in this gorgeous little cottage. It's centrally located in Wells with everything on your doorstep and just a short stroll down to the harbour. The cottage was spotlessly clean and had everything we could possibly need, including a high chair which was very handy with an 8 month old baby. (A travel cot would have been the cherry on the cake but only a suggestion and not a criticism. Any extra space in the boot is a bonus!).

Fiona was very prompt and helpful at replying to any queries and the whole booking experience was very easy.

I would highly recommend this cottage as a comfy base to stay and explore Wells and the surrounding area. If you want a nice place to eat The Globe restaurant is very close by and we enjoyed a lovely meal there.

beautiful cottage

  • 5 of 5

Elgin Cottage waa a wonderful base for me, my husband and our 22 montg old daughter. The cottage was well equipped, even with plastic plates and highchair for my daughter. The beds were comfortable and everywhere tastefully decoratws and homely. The location of the cottage was perfect; a stone throw away from shops, bank and the port.

Fiona, the owner, answered any queries I had quickly and was lovely to deal with. Despite my concerns, parking around wells wasn't an issue.

We'll definitely be back to wells-next-the sea, its a great place for children. My daughter loved riding the train to the beach. When we return we ll definitely be staying at Elgin cottage.

Thank you
