Very Comfortable, Well Equipped Two Bed Villa With Private Pool In Orba valley

Villa in Orba, Costa Blanca North. 15 mins to Vergel Beach, 20 To Denia, 30 To Javea/Moraira. Wonderful hillwalking country.

The apartment, which consists of the ground floor level of the villa (please note that the owners are not in occupation above when there are guests downstairs) is bright and airy with a wraparound veranda at the front. It has plenty of casual seating so that you can choose sun or shade throughout the day. At the main entrance a dining table makes a perfect place for an early breakfast, watching the sun rise above the hills, or a relaxed lunch, or late dinner. At the other side a hammock is at your disposal - or for the more energetic, a Tunturri exercise bike, which guests are welcome to use if inclined.

The pool terrace at the back of the villa receives sun throughout the day and the seating area has an awning that provides the all-important shade when needed. This is another lovely setting for al fresco meals, that can continue after dusk courtesy of the spotlights above the table. There are also two electric points here which enable the use of laptops, etc. (heaven forbid, you should want to do any work) or the portable speakers provided. There are four loungers, with cushions, and a large sun umbrella that can be moved to where required, and a pool shower. The 8x4 pool has Roman steps and interior lighting for those cooling after dinner dips.

Inside the living/dining room has a comfortable sofa and armchairs, a table and chairs, TV (that receives UK free view channels), Broadband WiFi, DVD/CD player, docking station for MP3 player, portable speakers, and is well stocked with books and games. The living room has Air Conditioning, as does Bedroom 1 (King/Single bedroom) but the whole apartment has large new windows, fully screened to take advantage of the cooling breezes that come up the valley and down from the mountains, and we often find that unless it gets very hot and humid the ceiling fans in the bedrooms are sufficient to remain comfortable at night.

The kitchen has granite work tops and is well stocked with everything you might want during your stay, from juicers to coffee bean grinders. The cooking equipment and utensils are all of high quality. Immediately outside the kitchen door is another small area for food preparation with a sink and under counter cupboard, where a cool box is provided for keeping bottles and cans cold during the day. (The kitchen fridge is an under-counter one with only a small freezer compartment.) Ice can be bought at the supermarket or local petrol station.

The villa is ideally located between coast and mountains, near to the family friendly resorts of Moraira, Javea and Denia, but also close to the lovely inland villages of Jalon, Parcent, Murla and Castells. The scenery is spectacular and the walking, in the cooler months, is wonderful. The area is renowned for its natural beauty and is an ideal location for hiking, cycling, bird-watching, or pursuits such as painting or photography. There are plentiful opportunities for other activities, such as golf, horse riding, karting, diving, sailing or kite surfing. You can be as energetic as you like or as laid back as you want, it's perfect for both.

About the Owner

We first came to the Costa Blanca ten years ago on the recommendation of friends who already owned a holiday home in Javea and we fell in love with the valleys and mountains straight away.

The climate is so kind, the scenery so magnificent and the people so friendly that if this is your first visit we are sure that like us you will want to return to the area again and again.

This is our first season welcoming visitors to Villa Empena; paying guests, that is, for over the time that we have had our home here we have had numerous family and friends spend their holidays with us. All have enjoyed the many attractions of the place whether it is the exuberant fiestas or the tranquillity of walking amongst orange groves in blossom, and we hope that you too will have a memorable holiday here.

Beautiful villa and pool and so peaceful😎

My husband and I just spent a special week in Orba in Caroline's lovely villa and it was like a home from home. Everything we could possibly have needed was supplied and we certainely put the gorgeous outside pool and terrace areas to good use, in scorchio sunshine with a lovely cooling breeze from the surrounding mountains-just lush!

Easy to book and lots of helpful advice meant a hassle free journey, car hire etc.....would just advise that we arrived very late on a Saturday and on Sunday found the local supermarkets all closed (as it was early June) so had to make a longer trip to stock up on essentials (though I believe in high season Orba supermarket is open 7 days).

When we could tear ourselves away for our lovely holiday home, Orba has a quant sleepy feel with authentic restruants and bars tucked away which we just loved.

We will definately be booking again😄

Winter sun

Just returned home after a few weeks away in this wonderful villa, high up on the hillside above Orba. Caroline has fitted out the villa with everything one could need for a stay in summer or winter, with heating a real bonus in February for some of the cooler days - some days were 20+. We visited the area to cycle the quiet roads in this region and found we could sit out on most afternoons with the villa having private garden areas to the front, rear and both sides, allowing us to catch the sun from all angles. The local restaurants in town were incredible value for money, paying just 10 Euros for menu del dia on most occasions. Thank you a really special holiday

Lovely comfortable villa in a fantastic location.

This villa was everything we had hoped for.....and more! We spent 7 brilliant days here with our family and wished we could have stayed longer. Caroline made the whole booking process easy and personal, providing some excellent local information and even travel updates prior to our arrival. The villa was spotless and extremely well equipped both inside and out. The internet is good and so is the uk tv which was great as the children needed to be out of the midday sun. You can always find shade outside if you prefer. The coolest day was 35c and the hottest 47c! A very comprehensive library is provided as are a few board games. The kitchen is very well equipped with indoor crockery and outdoor plastic glasses, plates etc. We ate outside everytime, mainly around the pool. Beds were very comfortable and ceiling fans are in both bedrooms. We only ever used the fans and they coped well with the high temperatures. The outside space is great. Lovely pool area and terraces around the villa ensure there are plenty of places to relax, in or out of the sun. My 8 and 4 year old spent all day in the pool. There are plenty of pool toys to keep them amused. Orba, is a short drive and has a well stocked supermarket serving fresh fish, bread etc. There are restaurants and bars and a very good medical centre if needed. The surrounding area has plenty to offer. Mountains for walking, and spectacular scenery. The beach at Denia is great for children as it has soft sand and a shallow shoreline. Even on a hot Sunday our nearest person was 50m away. Free parking too and about 15 mins drive. It was Festival week while we were there ( 25 Jul - 1 Aug ) and there were events on every day. The ' bull running' is very popular and was on every day. Worth a look. We didn't have time to see and do everything so will have to go back. There is also a big retail park in Ondara with what seems to be plenty of good shops ( I managed to avoid this but my partner is eager to go there when we return)Lottie the property manager was brilliant. Always available and never intrusive. A lovely lady.

If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet but not isolated holiday in well equipped and comfortable villa..... book this one. You won't be disappointed.

Home from Home - Great views !

We stayed in Villa Empena for 12 days and can safely say we would love to go back ! On this holiday we had our 8 year grand-daughter with us so the pool was a big hit -couldn't get her out of it - so that gave us time to relax and enjoy the sun . The Villa was spotlessly clean with everything you could wish for (like being at home but with the sun!).

The area had stunning views and so peaceful the only sounds to be heard were the wind chimes it was heaven. The wrap around terraces made sure that everyone was catered for with regards to the sun.... plenty of shade if needed. Breakfast on the front terrace and dinner by the pool - perfect. The town of Orba is just a few minutes away by car (or walkable for the more energetic) with a well stocked supermarket. Our thanks to Lottie who was on hand the whole time if we needed anything as she lived locally and also Caroline who made the booking of the holiday very straight forward and painless and gave us plenty of local knowledge prior to our visit. We would highly recommend this villa for those who want to stay somewhere peaceful and away from the crowds with stunning views & a real Spanish feel but still want their home comforts. We will be back - without grand-daughter so we can explore the area more !!!

Lovely Villa

This is a beautiful villa in Orba with everything one could possibly need for an enjoyable and relaxing stay. My family and I spent two wonderful weeks here and we were very impressed with the quality, cleanliness and overall charm of the property. The garden is lovely with beautiful flowers and plants and it has a very nice pool and sun terraces. The villa is near the mountains surrounded by beautiful scenery but at the same time it is only a short drive to many of the costal towns e.g. Denia and Javea. The owners, Caroline and Richard were so helpful leading up to and during our stay ensuring that everything was perfect. A car is necessary but nearest supermarket and the town of Orba is only a few minutes drive away. I would highly recommend this property to any couple or family who are looking for a quiet getaway but with easy access to towns. Thank you again Caroline and Richard for providing such a lovely holiday home and a special thanks to Lottie for taking such good care of us!

Activity and Interests

Car: recommended

The nearest beach is Vergel, a 15 minute drive away, with plenty of free roadside parking and beachside restaurants. (We can recommend Aumar, open every day, and there is another good fish place further along to the left). This is an excellent spot for young families as the sandy beach (part of the 200 klm sweep from Denia to Valencia) shelves gently into the sea and is perfect for paddling and sand castles, with the breakers further out providing excitement for older kids.

The Blue flag beaches and popular resorts of Denia (20 mins), Javea (25) and Moraira (30) each have their own attractions and this is where you can find all the water sports available; from diving to wind surfing to kayaking, it's all here. Arenal bay in Javea is a favourite spot for families with a large selection of restaurants, cafes, bars and shops all along the strip and plenty of free parking even in summer. At the other end of Javea is the harbour where the more laid back bars and restaurants are popular with couples, but everyone enjoys wandering in the old town of Javea itself, especially on Thursdays, market day. (And there is a big underground car park at the site.)

Another very popular town is Jalon whose Saturday Rastro - like a market with added crafts and antique stalls - can get very busy: go early to avoid the heat and get a parking place behind the little chapel (turn right before the roundabout before the MasYMas supermarket as you are driving in to Jalon and pick one of the two fields on the right that the enterprising locals open up to cars for €1 a go. Afterwards the Riu Rau restaurant, just over the old stone ford behind the the Tourist Info Centre, is a good place for lunch.

The medieval city of Valencia is well worth a day trip and is easily reached by train (1hour) from Xeraco station, 30 minutes drive and with free parking. The city is renowned both for its old centre and for the ultra modern Arts and Sciences Park, which has an excellent Aquarium amongst other attractions.

Benidorm is less than an hour's drive away and apart from the town itself - which is a lot nicer than it is often given credit for - the Benidorm Palace puts on a great show, and a reasonable meal. The theme parks of Terra Mittica and Aqualandia Water Park are located nearby.

Another favourite day trip is to the beautiful white hilltop town of Altea which can be reached by railway from Denia, about an hour's journey hugging the coast which is part of the enjoyment of the outing, chugging through orchards - and sometimes, it seems, even through people's backyards - with fine views of the sea.


Alicante (south) and Valencia (north) airports are both one and a half hours drive away on very good motorways.

Car hire is essential to really enjoy the area.
