Tastefully decorated, the house has original beams, feature stone wall, tiled floors and modern appliances. Kitchen is fully equipped and through dining area to seat 6 people. Large lounge includes English TV, dvd/video player, 2 sofas and Log burning fire with good supply of wood for cosy evenings. Door leads onto terrace with table and chairs and views over olive groves and private garden.

Situated in a peaceful area with plenty of gentle walks through the olive groves.

About Alan David Sunderland

We have lived in this area of Spain for 8 years and hope to stay here. We are a married couple with 3 children (although one has left to go to university) and moved away from the UK to have a better quality of life - the weather is certainly better here and we do not miss the hustle and bustle of living in a large urban area.

Its a great place for the kids as there are lots of places they can go safely, and living in a small community, everybody knows everybody.

Why Alan David Sunderland chose Granada Province (Costa Tropical)

We love this area as it is rural and peaceful and if we need anything, its not too remote. There is the town of Alhama de Granada within easy reach and driving around the roads here is not really taxing as there is little traffic in comparison to the UK.

What makes this house unique

The house is located in a small hamlet and is incredibly quiet. The local herdsman drives the goats through the village twice a day, so the only real noise is the cowbells (or should it be goat bells?).

Various vans come throughout the week selling Bread, fruit and veg and frozen foods on your doorstep.

L'accoglienza è stata molto piacevole e premurosa. La casa è deliziosa e corrisponde alle foto e alle informazioni. E' un luogo di grande pace fuori dalla confusione, proprio come cercavamo e non è lontana da Granada. Stare in un paese piccolissimo in mezzo agli olivi con le persone che ti salutano con semplicità come se tu fossi il nuovo vicino è un'esperienza bella e riposante. Grazie per tutto Alan: spero proprio di tornare ancora una volta e se proprio dovessi trovare un difetto, se si è in più di tre persone un bagno solo è un po' poco: suggerisco di ricavare almeno un gabinetto in più ! Per il resto il soggiorno è stato fantastico e vorrei ripeterlo appena possibile. Augusto

Woodburner in lounge with good supply of wood.. Welcome pack on arrival. There is street parking available outside the house. Outside: Private walled garden with pool (approx. 4m x 3m),2 dining areas and BBQ area. Additional seating and sun loungers available. Also patioheater for cooler months. Terraced area accessed from upstairs lounge in main house. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels, including beach towels and linen are changed once a week. House is cleaned weekly. Internet available.

Relaxing holiday

Just spent a lovely relaxing week here. Alan and Helen were great communicators, excellent instructions on how to get here and very welcoming. It was very hot weather but with the aid of the pool and the fans it was all bearable. Very quiet village apart from the bells on the goats as they and the sheep are walked through the village 2 or 3 times a day. Locals very friendly. Local shops are a drive away and the bar in the next village serves a good cold beer. Great stay - thanks Alan and Helen.

Near Cardiff

A fantastic place to spend a relaxing holiday.

A great place to stay with absolutely everything you need to hand. We spent 2 weeks here and enjoyed every minute. Alan and Helen and their family met us at the property and couldn't do enough for us. A good welcome pack was provided on arrival, too. It is set in a very sleepy village and the locals were all very friendly. 15 minutes from the motorway and 10 minutes from Alhama de Granada, its a great place to discover this stunning area if Andalucia.

great holiday

Just spent a lovely week in Casa Los Olivos Seco de Lucena. We live near Torre del Mar but my husband loves coarse fishing and we went there to be near Bermajales Lake which is beautiful and definitely didn't disappoint , a five star rating

The cottage is set in a tranquil rural Spanish hamlet,totally charming and if you are looking for serenity with no hassle this ticks all the boxes. Baker appeared morning and afternoon every day with a smashing array of bread and buns and the veg van came every two days.

Inside it's spacious, full of Spanish character with a lovely homely feeling, the back garden with pool is totally private and you look on to a vista of acres of olives. It is the highest house in the village and from the windows of the large upstairs living room the views of the sunset are unbelievable helped along with a glass of Spanish red wine.

Sheer bliss.

A big star rating for English TV and possibility of WiFi. Very obliging English owners able to give lots of local advice and help if needed. Welcome pack on arrival much appreciated.

Santa Cruz is just down the road, typically Spanish complete with plaza and trees and a kids playpark and a small supermarket packed to the gunnels, everyone very friendly, couple of bars perfect for sitting out with a drink and tapas supplied.

Alhama de Granada we found delightful, interesting and a definite slow pace of life which was just what we wanted, a great place to explore and to sit and people watch. The whole area is great for walkers.

El entorno maravilloso, la gente estupenda. Tamir, un niño muy majo. Merece mucho la pena. La casa estupenda.

There are many beaches nearby including Torre Del Mar, 1 hours drive away.

Visit the caves in Nerja 1 hour 15 minutes drive away.

The Costa Del Sol 1 hour 30 minutes away has great activities including para-sailing and boat trips.

Lake Bermejales is approximately 30 minutes drive away where you can swim in the beautiful clear water or hire a pedalo or canoe in summer. Also horseriding through the national park.


The nearest airport is Granada, 45 minutes by car.

Malaga airport is 1 hour 20 minutes by car.

We can provide directions if necessary.

Small village of Santa Cruz del Comercio is 30 minutes walk by the river.

Alhama De Granada is a small historical town with plenty to see and do. Walk down the Gorge and have a meal at El Ventorro or Pato Loco (have a dip in the pool in summer).

Visit Granada (50 mins by car) and see the Alhambra Palace or wander around the many shops.

Montefrio is a small pretty village about 1 hours drive away.

The historal cities of Cordoba and Seville are approximately 2 hours by car.

Further Details:

In the local village of Santa Cruz del Comercio there are 2 shops, a chemist, a bank, 3 bars and a market on Wednesday morning.

In the town of Alhama de Granada there are many shops, bars, chemists, banks, parks and restaurants. There is a busy market on Friday morning with fruit and veg stalls, clothes and local craft stalls.

Take a trip to Loja, it has great shops and supermarkets, restaurants and bars.

Mini Hollywood in Las Tabernas, Almeria is 2 hours away and is a fabulous day out for all. Cowboy fights and Taverns with can can dancing then onto an outdoor swimming pool and finally a walk around the zoo.

We are central to many beaches, Almuñecar is a 2 hour drive down a scenic mountain road, El Morche a quiet Spanish beach with pedalos for hire.

Malaga beach and Plaza Mayor shopping centre are 1 hour by car.

If you don´t want to go too far, the small village of Cacin has a Roman Bridge which you can cross then follow a path through trees and arrive at a waterfall.

Visit the national park in Fornes, La Resinera.

There are waterparks around the coast also Aquaola in Granada and Aquavelis in Velez Malaga.
