Ideal seaside retreat, comfortable cottage.

  • 5 of 5

This was the first time we had stayed at Carpenters cottage. When we arrived at the cottage, Teresa, the owner showed us around and also left us a lovely welcome basket which was a nice touch. The cottage was well equipped with everything we should possibly need for our stay. It was emaculately clean and furnished to a very high standard, and the bed was just so comfortable.

The location was within walking distance of the beach and you can even walk along the wide walk/cycle way towards Hunstanton, where they have great fish and chips!

We found the bus service in this area to be very frequent and reliable especially important for anyone completing the coastal and pedders way path.

Teresa was very helpful throughout our booking and nothing was too much trouble for her. I would highly recommend this property as a home from home to my family and friends.

Owner's Response: I’m so pleased you and your husband enjoyed your 2 week stay at Carpenter’s Cottage. As you mention the 14 nights gave you lots of opportunity to enjoy our comfortable beds and I’m pleased to learn that the cottage was well equipped for your longer stay. As you mention the local area has an excellent bus service, ideal for returning back to a car or the cottage itself, from the many coastal walks. Being walkers yourselves it’s good to hear you were able to explore the area and enjoy some of the many attractions Heacham and its local area has to offer. The opportunity to greet our guests is very important to me in order to ensure they are well settled in. I try to ensure the welcome basket is always set up to provide items that our guests specifically like; I’m glad you enjoyed it. I do hope to be able to provide another such basket for a return visit to us.

Excellent location and superbly furnished

  • 5 of 5

We had excellent communication with the owner, who even greeted us on arrival (we were left a lovely welcome basket too). The cottage is clean furnished to a high spec including the bed linen - always a nice touch. My little girl loved her bedroom. The enclosed garden was a sun trap and a perfect size for small children.

Heacham itself is an excellent location, but the cottage is right in the centre of the village, literally a minutes walk from Tesco. We normally do an online shop for a weeks holiday, but being so close to Tesco, in hindsight we didn't need to. There are also plenty of take aways in walking distance.

The surrounding area is brilliant for shoppers and beach lovers. We love Brancaster beach and shopping in the local areas from little villages such as Thornham and Brancaster Staithe to the town of Holt which we particularly love. Bradfields in Heacham village itself was also a nice suprise. Sandringham is worth a visit as is Norfolk Lavender which is within walking distance.

We would definitely visit this cottage again.

Owner's Response: We are so pleased you all enjoyed your stay at Carpenter's Cottage and are particularly pleased your little girl was happy with her bedroom (happy children make happy holidays!). We would really enjoy welcoming you all back to visit again and next time we will have a beach hut available to use at our local North Beach 1 mile away from the cottage, which I am sure you and your little ones will love.

What a fabulous little gem

  • 5 of 5

I came across Carpenters Cottage when I was searching for a weekend stay for my family attending a wedding in the area. What a great find this was. The cottage is less than 5 mins away from the venue at Heacham Manor which was a perfect location for us and the property was like a home from home. It is very well appointed, the owners have taken such care to provide everything you need and many more special touches to make your stay comfortable. The beds were lovely and comfortable and the linen fresh and clean. The garden and garden furniture again perfect. The welcome basket with fresh eggs, lovely coffee and wine was much appreciated. The customer service was great, the description and facilities were just as described and the email and phone contact with the owner was clear and easy. I would definitely recommend this property and would love to return.

Owner's Response: It was lovely having you stay at Carpenter's Cottage as it gave us a special opportunity, in a small way, to help you enjoy your family wedding at Heacham Manor which is a lovely venue for such an occasion. I am very pleased you found the cottage to be so convenient to the Manor and that you all enjoyed our accommodation and facilities. I hope you will visit again to relive the memories of your special celebratory weekend.

perfect cottage

  • 5 of 5

Such a lovely, clean and tastefully decorated cottage. The owner had made every effort to make us feel welcome. My 8 year old daughter loved 'her room!!!'. Tesco express is literally a 2 minute walk away which is extremely convenient. The owner kept in contact leading up to our stay and shared information about local attractions should the weather be bad. Would certainly recommend to friends and family and look forward to returning for another short break.

Owner's Response: I'm so pleased your friend and the children enjoyed their visit to Carpenter's Cottage. I love the opportunity of setting up the single third bedroom for either little girls or little boys (or for adults). If the little ones are happy with "their room" it's very likely they will settle well at night and that means a lovely holiday rest for all! I'm glad you found the information on places to visit locally useful. With the beach and Norfolk Lavender, for example, within walking distance of the cottage and other attractions and activities only a short drive away, there are lots of opportunities for good days out regardless of the weather or time of year. I hope to welcoming you back again soon.

What a Lovely Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Carpenters Cottage is lovely. Very tastefully decorated, very clean, very comfortable, everything you need including extras such as hand cream, wipes, tissues and other toiletries. The welcome basket was much appreciated especially the bottle of wine! We also made good use of the pretty sunny walled garden and the BBQ. The cottage also has a secure garage which is perfect for storing bicycles. It also has its own parking space so no need to worry about going out for the day and not knowing if you'll have space when you get back. FishnChips and Indian Takeaway the shortest walk away and so is a Tesco Express. Would recommend this area for cycling as it is nice and flat. Route maps are available from Bircham Windmill (which is also worth going up) which use farm tracks and very quiet roads. A great way to go to Hunstanton is to cycle / walk along the sea wall. We had a lovely week and the owners are very friendly and helpful.

Owner's Response: We are so pleased to hear you enjoyed the extra little touches we strive to provide and were assured of the security of your cycles during your stay at Carpenter's Cottage. We too find the local area perfect for both road and off-road cycling. We have always found the country roads to have light traffic and drivers are very considerate to cyclists (both novice and experienced) enabling them to enjoy the stunning views across the countryside and sea. We look forward to welcoming you (and your cycles) back to Carpenter's Cottage at some time in the future, to do more 2-wheel exploring of our lovely part of Norfolk.

Carpenters cottage

  • 5 of 5

A fantastic cottage that is very homely and comfortable. This three bedroomed cottage has a very welcoming feeling as soon as you enter. Is beautifully laid out and spacious. All the beds have good mattresses and pillows and towels are plentiful. Everything is provided for a wonderful stay. A proper home from home!

We are a couple in our sixties and went with our daughter and grandsons (5 years and 16 years of age). There is plenty to see and do on foot and it is ideal for sightseeing in the car. Norfolk Lavender a short walk away is well worth a visit, the chutney and jams are to be recommended.

For self catering Tesco and a lovely fish shop is just round the corner so no need to drive anywhere for newspapers etc.

The owners are at the end of a phone should they be needed and are very helpful. Checking out at noon is great as no mad ten o'clock rush.

We will be using again and would highly recommend to anyone going to this area.

Owner's Response: We are thrilled you had such a great time at Carpenter's Cottage. It was particularly good to hear you enjoyed the beds as we have tried to ensure all aspects of the accommodation provide high quality comfort. Likewise the 12.00 checkout gives opportunity to enjoy the beds (and the rest of the cottage) just that bit longer! We very much look forward to welcoming you again.

Activity and Interests

A 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk will take you to the safe sands of Heacham North beach and its promenade to Hunstanton to the north. Hunstanton boasts open sands and its famous red and white striped cliffs. To the south is Snettisham beach with its RSPB reserve. A short journey further round the coast takes you along the famous North Norfolk coastline with its coastal footpath, bird reserves, picturesque villages, harbours and market towns such as Burnham Market and Wells next the sea.

Whilst the use of a car is recommended to optimise the surrounding countryside and coastline there is an excellent bus service. The “Coast Hopper” operates throughout the year and shadows the Norfolk Coast Path National Trail from Hunstanton to Cromer. It’s easy to take the bus from the village, get off for a walk, and rejoin the bus further along the route. The Coast Hopper to Holme next the Sea gives access to the Peddars Way National Trail as it reaches the coast.

Village shops and businesses are within a 5 minute walk. King’s Lynn the nearest large market town and railway station is 12 miles. Whilst within 20 miles is Holkham with its breathtaking silver sands and Hall, Fakenham with its racecourse, and arguably Norfolk’s trendiest village Burnham Market. With too many to list just do a web search to find many North West Norfolk treasures to visit along its coastline which has some of the most unspoilt and stunning beaches you could ever wish to see!

Further Details:

Heacham village offers all amenities to support your stay, including an express supermarket (with cash machine) and 2 takeaway restaurants within 5 minutes walk of Carpenter’s Cottage. However, a 10 minute drive to Hunstanton the nearest town offers supermarkets, theatre, fairground, sea life centre, sport and leisure centre, shops, restaurants and takeaways, public houses, banks, tennis, bowls and croquet along with access to the beach and its facilities.
