On the edge of Apremont, but only a short walk from the centre.
The village of Apremont lies in the Vendee region of France, which benefits from the Gulf Stream microclimate, with generally warm temperatures in Spring and Autumn, and hot and sunny summers.
The sea side town of St Gilles Croix-de-Vie with it's good restaurants and safe long fine sandy beach, is only 20 minutes away.
La Roche-sur-Yon is the nearest large town. La Rochelle and its fine restaurants & smart shops are just over the hour.
A delightful family property with lots of space. No hidden extras, rates include: Wi-Fi and internet access, UK Sky TV, bed linen, pool heating and all services.
I live in England with my wife, 2 children and 2 grand children. My wife and I both work, but spend most of our holidays in France, where we have made many friends and have really fallen in love with the country.
Paul Hargreaves purchased this villa in 2007
We love Apremont and the Vendee because of the fantastic facilities in the area. There are some beautiful beaches and the marina boasts a great range of bars and restaurants. There really is something for everyone here.
We love the combination of peaceful, unspoiled countryside alongside miles of beautiful uncrowded beaches. It's the perfect place to relax, but we also like being able to dip into the more 'touristy' areas when the fancy takes us
The villa is where we spend most of our holidays so is furnished and equipped to a very high standard
The area is easily accessible with Nantes airport less than an hours drive away.
Maison Blanc lies some 20 minutes from the coast and there are a number of small resorts offering good beaches, shops, restaurants and outdoor pursuits for children.
The gardens are well kept and include a swimmimg pool to cool off during hot afternoons.
The rural location offers peace and quiet and is close to a small charming village with a bar and restaurant.
We would recommend the holiday home to both couples and families looking for a coastal retreat.
Sailing, fishing, canoeing, horse riding and go-carting are all available locally. It is only a short walk from the villa down to the River Vie which also provides great fishing and cycling, with picnic areas and the local wine trail clearly signposted.
We provide bedding so you can travel light and make the most of your holiday
We really enjoyed our break here. The booking process was easy and the instructions and information issued by Paul covered everything. The house is exactly as the photos with a lovely modern kitchen and bathroom. It was very well equipped for a self-catering holiday. The pool was lovely and well used as was the patio dining table. The large garden is private and the sun room was perfect for relaxing and reading. The house itself stayed cool despite the warm weather outside. The "welcome pack" of wine, French bread and fresh milk was a nice touch.
There is a huge hypermarket easy to reach from the bypass at Aizenay.
A short walk from the house, we visited the chateau and the lake and sampled the lovely cakes at the local boulangerie.
St Gilles Croix-de-Vie was worth a visit with its lovely harbour filled with yachts and fishing boats and its stretch of sandy beach.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Maison Blanc to those looking for a peaceful and relaxing break.
I stayed in this lovely house in the delightful village of Apremont for a period of twelve days in April 2017. I was part of a party of five adults and the spacious house was able to accommodate us very comfortably having three spacious bedrooms , one with a king size bed and two with two twin beds in each one.
Maison Blanc is situated about a ten minute leisurely stroll away from the centre of the village where you can find many amenities including a wonderful bakery, a comprehensively stocked Spar grocery and numerous bars, cafes and restaurants. The village also possesses an imposing castle and a fine church. A river runs through the village and fishing in the river appeared to be a popular pastime. One of the highlights of my stay was the early morning walk to the village bakery to purchase the freshly baked baguettes!
The house itself is extremely well furnished with excellent quality furniture and fittings and was impeccably clean and well maintained. A more than adequate supply of good quality crockery, cutlery, pots, pans and kitchen utensils was provided and therefore it is not necessary to transport any of these items from home.
There is a fantastic private swimming pool situated within the spacious gardens which would be a great asset for families staying during the Summer months although when I stayed in April the pool was not yet open. There is a decked area within the garden which provides an ideal area for alfresco dining or sun bathing. There is also a retractable awning to provide shade if required and a large outdoor dining table and chair set.
Communication with Paul the owner was excellent and he replied to any queries quickly and courteously. A detailed information pack was available in the house.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Maison Blanc and would have no hesitation in making a return visit!
Almost a year has passed since we stayed in Apremont, in this fabulous property.
We are not having an holiday this year, unfortunately, but we are already discussing where to go next year. My four children are all adamant that they want to come back to this same property where they enjoyed their Best Ever Holiday!!!. My wife and I have no reason to argue with them, it was perfect.
The property was clean, well equipped and perfectly located in a quiet spot with everything you could need within walking distance or a short drive away..We spent many hours in or by the pool which we enjoyed very much. The bakery in the village was excellent for breakfasts and lunches at the villa, whilst we made good use of the barbeque at the villa for evening meals. The idyllic village of Apremont has several places to dine to cater for varying tastes, which we took advantage of and were never disappointed.
All in all we had a fabulous time. Paul was very helpful and communicated very promptly. We are looking forward to next years holiday.
We really enjoyed our week here. The children loved the great pool and beautiful garden. The house is lovely too, well equipped and in a great location. A short bike ride or walk to the patisserie in the morning is a must. Would definitely recommend.
We spent a lovely 2 weeks in this well maintained house. The house and it's surroundings especially the pool area made these 2 weeks one of the best holidays we have had.
The village of Apremont was a short walk, which provided local shops and restaurants. I would not hesitate booking this accommodation in the future.
Thanks Paul
We found the villa to be clean and well maintained, very comfortable and welcoming. It is a short walk from the centre of the delightful village of Apremont. Highly recommended.
What a little gem. The location is ideal, it is about 5-10 mins walk from a fully equipped little spar and bread shop. Just a little bit further is a beach where you can hire pedlos and a park to entertain the kids. The restaurants (again 10 min walk) were friendly and welcoming. The house itself was just ace, the facilities were great. We went with a 4 yr old and a 6 yr old and they played in the garden and the pool all week and had an amazing holiday. The BBQ was good and the kitchen cooking facilities were all great.
All in all it was the most relaxing holiday we have ever been on and hope to book again.
Special interest holidays:
Fishing in the Vendee
Its fishing is one of the Vendee’s undeniable assets. Sea-fishing, shellfish hunting on the beach, surf-casting by the sea and freshwater fishing are all pastimes you can enjoy.
For the youngest in the family, there are camps focusing on the discovery of fishing and nature, while for practiced anglers there are five reservoirs where you can fish for Zander and Perch.
Devotees of night-fishing can choose from among several stretches of carp streams, and you can also fish for eels. You will need a holiday license to fish (Carte Peche-Vacances) these are available from tackle shops. (The locations of the tackle shops are available from the tourist office as well as the locations of local fishing lakes and rivers). The Vendee is a true paradise for fishermen.
Boat trips are available from the fishing ports of St Gilles-Croix-de Vie and Les Sables-d-Olonne. Take advantage of the experience of the local fishermen as they guide you out to the best fishing grounds.
Coast/Beach:
Maison Blanc is just a 20 minute drive to the Atlantic coast, close to the seaside towns of St Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, St-Jean-de-Monts, and Les Sable de L’Onnes. St Gilles is alive with restaurants overlooking the marina, while Les Sable has long sandy beaches, a harbour and wonderful shops and restaurants. The more sophisticated resort of La Rochelle, with its large harbour, beautiful boats, wonderful restaurants and superb shopping is just over an hour’s drive away.
Travel:
The nearest Airport is Nantes which has Ryanair flights from London Stansted and East Midlands airports, also British Airways from Gatwick..
Apremont is about 412miles from the port of Calais - around six and a half hour drive, 152miles from St Malo which takes around three hours and 225miles from Caen, a three and a half hour drive.
The best route from Calais is via Boulogne, Rouen and Le Mans - simply follow the signs and you can't go wrong with AutoRoute all the way
Distances:
Nearest points of interest
St Gilles (Sea) - 15km / 9.3miles
Local Spar shop - 1km / 0.6miles
Nantes (Airport) - 50km / 31.1miles
St Malo (FerryPort) - 250km / 152miles
Ideal family holiday destination with 140km of beaches and tranquil countryside and forests. The beaches and sea are renowned for their cleanliness are are manned by lifeguards during the summer season. Fantastic for watching rare and wild birds, and also its rich history has left the region with many châteaux and abbeys
Further Details:
Apremont, is a pretty village with a medieval Chateau, a large lake and a sandy beach with picnic areas. You can hire pedalos, flat-bottomed boats and canoes to paddle leisurely around the lake. Once you’ve worked up an appetite you can justify trying out the bar and restaurant which have stunning views over the lake.
Apremont lake.
The perfect location for a fishing holiday in France with friends or family. A superb lake offering the angler all types of species & record carp, this wonderfully presented lake offers all the family enjoyment while the anglers of the family can fulfill their passion, and all within walking distance from your holiday home.
There are also local attractions offering horse riding, cycling, quad-biking and go-karts. A velo-rail (like a rail-cycle) will take you through 10kms of countryside over the former railway line near Coax.
There are also many superb walks through open countryside, or along the coast.
St Gilles-croix-de-vie
Famed for its fresh sardines. Look for the vintage ones (sardines millésimées) which are supposed to be laid down like fine wine! Even the canned variety are treated with respect. For children with short attention spans there is a tiny museum, the Maison du Pecheur, which used to be a fisherman’s cottage (approx 10 miles).
St Jean-de-monts.
A beautiful sandy beach, which the locals consider one of the most stunning in France (if not the world). If you can wrench yourself and the family from your favourite spot on the sand, it also has great watersports. Or if you or your children fancy yourselves as the next Jamie Oliver, then hot-foot it to the Saturday morning market a couple of miles away for superb fresh produce.
Les Sable de L’Onnes.
Is a major resort town. It features many opportunities for dining out, ranging from fine French cuisine to an English bars offering Sunday roast dinners. Stroll along the quayside of an evening or enjoy any of the local bars and cafes on the promenade
