About Mary Jackman

I work as a housekeeper for holiday lets in and around the Newquay area of Cornwall.

I am married to Mark and together we operate a housekeeping service for holiday home owners.

We look after everything from caravans, apartments and cottages.

All our holiday homes are close by so that we are able to get to them if there is a situation we need to deal with.

We have our own caravan on Newquay Holiday Park but the other holiday lets are all owned by people who live in other area's of England.

These owners have chosen a second home in this beautiful corner of England and are happy to share it through-out the year with guests.

Both Mark & I aim to please our owners and our guests alike with the service we offer.

Mary Jackman purchased this apartment in 2002

Why Mary Jackman chose Newquay & St Austell area

Headland View was purchased in 2002 by the owners Mr & Mrs Bishop for family use and to operate as a holiday home.

The Bishop family have been visiting Newquay for many years and watched the many changes in the area as Newquay grows.

What makes this apartment unique

Being able to look at The Atlantic Ocean from either my master bedroom or my lounge by just looking out of or opening up the french doors.

Relaxing, fishing, surfing, body-boarding, rock-pooling & walking the coastal path.

Seeing amazing sunsets from my property.

Being able to leave my car & walk into town, to the local pub/restaurant & a choice of beaches.

Sitting watching the hang-gliders float past my window.

Perfect holiday base

  • 4 of 5

The booking, check in/out process was expertly managed by Mary and made it really easy for us to quickly settle in and enjoy the holiday.

The view from this apartment is perfect, overlooking Fistral Beach and as we were on the ground floor we also had the gardens to enjoy. This is a great place for a family to stay.

The apartment had everything we could need except for a veggie peeler, but that was more than made up for by the beach essentials (wind break, chairs, outdoor table, bodyboard) and the wet weather games and DVDs.

Location wise - slightly outside of Newquay, so expect a 20-30 minute gentle walk into town alongside the golf course. 10-15 minutes to Fistral beach for surfing waves, 10 minutes walk to Fire Pitt Cafe and the ferry over to Clantock beach (perfect family beach). We really enjoyed being slightly out of the town (yet still within a 5 min drive). Nearby there is a yoga studio which we booked too.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review Mr Madeley. I am really very sorry to hear that the vegetable peeler has gone missing. I have now been out and replaced it. I am pleased that you found the booking process easy and well managed and that you enjoyed your stay. The owners have tried to think of everything so that our guests are well accommodated for. We hope you will consider contacting us again if you wish to come back to Newquay for a holiday in the future,

Another lovely stay at this apartment

  • 5 of 5

Our second time at this property and just as enjoyable as the first. Ten minutes from front door to the surf, or the beautiful estuary on the other side of the headland.

Everything organised smoothly as it was last year.

Well situated, great view and good value property

  • 5 of 5

The property was very clean and tidy (and the heating was on already - it was freezing outside when we arrived!). Although it was not easy to find the property as we arrived in the dark and the building name plate is very difficult to see, we managed and got parked to meet Mary and collect keys and instructions etc. The property is well placed for Newquay (about 15/20 minute walk to the town) and a shorted walk to Fistral beach which you can see from the flat. There was everything there we needed for our short stay and we had contact numbers if anything went wrong or we needed any further local information. Would certainly recommend it as a good get away and great value for money. I imagine its very popular in the summer with the surf and good weather, but the time of year made no difference to us, and we had a great time.

Lovely apartment and location

  • 4 of 5

We had a great stay at the apartment - it did everything we needed it to.

Location was great just a short walk to Fistral beach. Was even greeted with a cake, tea bags and milk which was so appreciated after a long drive!

Lovely views

  • 4 of 5

The views are wonderful from the main sitting room and main bedroom. The bed is very comfortable. It is in a very quiet complex and the gardens are very well kept. Shower was good and bath a bonus. Lot of storage too. It would benefit from a TV in the master bedroom. Newquay was wonderful. Loved the walk from the apartment to the headland via the beach. Overall a wonderful stay.
