Beautiful house in beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

A group of us stayed here for 3 weeks as we were working nearby and we could not have chosen a better place to stay! It was a lovely house to come back to after a long day at work. The setting is simply beautiful with lovely outdoor space for barbeques. The rooms are done to a high standard, whilst keeping the traditional feel to the building.

The house is set in a lovely area with a pizzeria within walking distance and a very short car journey to the centre of Gif where several restaurants could be found.

The only bad bit was that we had to go to work and couldn't spend more time at the house!!

Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at The Lodge was truly wonderful the property is stunningly beautiful furnished to a very high standard extremely comfortable, well equipped and set in the most idyllic grounds.

After a lot of searching The Lodge was the place of choice to celebrate 50 years of marriage with our family spending such quality time together simply added to the most perfect weekend.

We all enjoyed playing croquet and boules on the lawn taking walks along the stream generally relaxing and soaking up the very unique atmosphere.

Patrick was very helpful letting us know that he always around should we need any assistance, he also took time to explain how Edward V111 and Mrs Simpson would spend time at their holiday/weekend retreat this we already knew but being reminded while visiting seemed to make it so real.

Gif Sur Yvette is a charming small town our walks to the bakery and greengrocers stopping for coffee on Saturday morning also a trip to the Flea Market on Sunday made our French experience complete.

We loved The Lodge and would highly recommend for all age groups there is something for everyone.

A beautiful tranquil place

  • 4 of 5

The Lodge is a lovely old building that caters well for 2 families. Clean and comfortable, with the ability to cook your own meals. Some basic supplies like tea, milk, bread, butter, eggs and of course wine (!) were a welcome surprise. Lovely gardens to walk around, and an easy commute into Paris on the Metro from town. Our only negative was the strong musty smell in one of the bathrooms and the main bedroom- the plumbing may need a bit of work!

Magnifique maison

  • 5 of 5

Nous avons passé un super séjour. La maison est très belle et très bien décorée.

Le parc est splendide.

Seul petit point d'amélioration, la cuisine aurait besoin d'un peu plus d'équipement (une cafetière, des couteaux, économes etc...)

A beautiful, evocative and restful location

  • 5 of 5

We travelled from the UK as a group of 8 by Eurostar to Paris and onwards to Gif by RER; it couldn't have been easier. No doubt we were blessed with exceptional weather for 5 days; nevertheless this turned out to be an absolutely beautiful small estate in a peaceful rural setting. The various properties have been refurbished and fitted out to a very high standard, with all modern conveniences. Situated a pleasant 20 minute walk from the town centre, it is surrounded by forests with well-maintained and marked paths, so is superb for walkers. Bicycles were also available for the use of guests. There are several restaurants in Gif itself and supermarkets nearby for self-catering. The proximity of Gif to central Paris, and easy and quick access by RER, makes it an ideal spot for a relaxing country break, with the option of Paris itself nearby. Strongly recommended.
