A former dairy set in the grounds of a beautiful 17th century Grade II listed house, rare breed chickens roam the gardens of the main house, Forest ponies, donkeys and cows wander past the garden every day. The versatile accommodation is extremely spacious and sleeps 8 very comfortably, whether one large or two separate families.

About the Owner

I live in the house next to Venards Lodge with my family, dogs and cats. We also have rare breed chickens, 2 pet pigs (Posh and Becks!) and horses. I moved to the New Forest 24 years ago and I am sure I will never live anywhere else.

We bought the 17th century Grade II* listed house and the Lodge sits within the grounds. We all love living in the New Forest, we love the fact that we are rural and yet within easy reach of several towns and the wonderful South Coast.

Activity and Interests


Bournemouth beaches about 25 minutes drive away.


Bournemouth Airport about 25 minutes, Southampton about 35 minutes. Car essential as we are very rural.


We are in the village, although it is quite spread out. Fordingbridge is about 5 minutes away (driving) and Ringwood about 10 minutes (driving).

Further Details:

Lots of good pubs in the New Forest. Plenty of 'attractions' in the surrounding areas, Winchester around 40 minutes away and Salisbury half an hour.

Email or call with enquiry, booking direct with owner, payment either direct to bank account or by cheque. 30% deposit at time of booking, balance 6 weeks prior to start date of the holiday. £100 'breakages deposit' payable. SHORT STAY charged at 70% of weekly rate.

Changeover Day:
Friday changeover. Part week bookings accepted out of season and charged at 70% of the weekly rate. 10am departure , 2pm arrival. (can be flexible if property not occupied before or after your stay). Can accept your online shop prior to your arrival.

We don't stay in the property as it is only about 200 yards from our house but we did live in there while we were renovating the house. It's a lovely 'home'.

  • Notes on accommodation: The Lodge is strictly non smoking and no pets. Outside: There is a private garden with large patio area, table and seating for 8, a lawned area and a herb garden. Utility Room: Fully equipped, washing machine and separate tumble dryer Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen and towels included (included beach/swimming towels). Property is cleaned weekly. Extra cleaning can be arranged. Other: Large entrance hall with plenty of space for coats and wellies and a downstairs cloakroom with more hanging space for coats.
