Even more beautiful than the pictures!
Wonderful villa with beautiful views and Monica was superb as a host. Probably a good idea to hire a car although its an easy walk to the local beach, bars and restaurants. Would definitely go again.

Amazing!!!
We left the house more than 10 days ago but it is still in our minds... What a place!! Everything in this house is perfect. The view alone is worth the trip. The house is projected to give you all a beach house can offer combined with modern furniture and appliances. The pool is an invitation for a family reunion. I felt a little confused about their power system in the first day but in the second day I got used with and in the third day I was thinking to have the same system in my own house... Monica is perfect as a host. She is very helpful and fast. Very polite too. Thanks for sharing this amazing property with us!

Relax with incredible sea views and dolphins
Five of us stayed at this perfect place and there was plenty of room to relax and enjoy! The house itself is impressive with spacious bedrooms, and lounge area for the evening. The main reason to go to this place is for the 180 degree perspective view of the Mediterranean. There are several outdoor areas to relax and enjoy; of course by the infinity pool, down in the herb/aroma garden, in an amazing outdoor lounge area with oversize sofas or on the terrace. Whilst we were there in June, both in the mornings and evenings, we also saw pods of dolphins breaching a few hundred meters in front of us which was spectacular. In terms of the area, the restaurants and bars are very much locals and we found it better going further East. There are 2 restaurants that are recommended in the welcome pack that are great; one called 'Mulse', one of the first bars/resturants you come to as you walk down the steps and along the beach walkway which is more upmarket than the rest of the places, and Kiko's which we were told by locals is the best fish place in Malaga and is a little more laid back with sharing plates rather than specific dishes. There are also pizza and pasta places but these are the best places we visited. The 'Mercadona' supermarket is a short walk down the hill (approx. 3/4 mile) and has everything you need. If you are walking, take lots of bags and go with a few people as the walk back up can be a good workout. Otherwise it's a quick journey with a car. Other than to go to the supermarket or the odd meal out down at the beach, it is the only reason you would not want to be at Casa Barco. This is a spectacular place and we will be back again soon!

Paradise on earth
We have been to many places in the world and Casa Barco is definitely one of the best places you can go to. The house is extraordinarly well thought, with every room looking towards this incredible sight over the sea. The region is also one of the most spectacular ones in Europe. The wonders of Greneda, Sevilla, Cordoba...are just breathtaking. We could only have wished to stay longer in this paradise on earth, the balcony of Europe.

About the host

Hosted by Monica Lozano

Host profile image
We are a British / Spanish couple living in Madrid, who finally managed to build the house of our dreams.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with the plot of land 17 years ago, and it took 10 years and an economic crisis to convince the owner to sell so we could build the house. There simply isn't any other property with these views in the coast, on calm days we often see dolphins jumping in front of the house! (video on request). We use the house ourselves but would love for others to be able to enjoy it as well. It is conveniently located for shops and supermarkets, as well as the beach. We can provide tips on activities, restaurants, etc in the area, and recommend guests visit the city of Malaga, which has gone through a major refurbishment and is now a vibrant city with plenty of cafes and restaurants. Day trips to historical sites such as Granada, Ronda and Sevilla are feasible and there are bike tracks and golf courses nearby.

What makes this property unique

What makes this property unique is the calm of living right in front of the sea with 180 degree views. We have furnished the house as our home and the garden offers multiple spaces to enjoy the views and just relax and unwind. It is always painful to leave!
