Sleeps 5 in 3 bedrooms. The property features a huge 30ft. open plan sitting room and kitchen featuring open beams and a cast iron stove. Doors open onto a sunny patio and fully enclosed garden which is not overlooked. There is a double bedroom with en-suite, a twin and a single. The separate family bathroom has a free standing bath and walk in shower. This is the perfect place to relax, spread out and recharge.

A calming and relaxing holiday

We arrived at Owl's house stressed from the toils of London and left significantly calmer and more relaxed. Owl's house is in the depth of the countryside but within easy reach of lots of lovely beaches and walks. It was incredibly peaceful. We found the accommodation spotlessly clean and well laid out. The living room and kitchen are large and meant that we did not feel on top of each other (we are a family of 5). It was really useful to have a dishwasher and washing machine. The beds were really comfy and we all slept well. On the few rainy days the kids enjoyed the multitude of books, dvds and made an extensive train track. We loved the peace and quiet that Owl's house provided and yet we were really easily able to get to the beaches and local towns. The owner was very helpful with regards to where to go and what to do. Our visits included St Michael's Mount, Mousehole & Gwithian beach. We had a lovely pub lunch at the Coastguard in Mousehole. We are planning our next visit already. Many thanks.

Peaceful Retreat

Lovely relaxing short break. Very peaceful cottage up a narrow lane in the countryside above Hayle but also not far from St Ives. Loved the area around Godrevy point with wide sandy beach and coastal walks.

Car essential, plenty of parking for more than one car.

Lovely private garden with sheltered patio, wooden table and chairs and BarBQ. Lucky with weather and able to sit outside at beginning of October but owners dog - a friendly large black retriever found his way in through fence twice and into the cottage when patio doors left open. Owner has promised to look at fence and prevent this happening in the future.

Bed was very comfortable, Main bedroom has good ensuite shower. Family bathroom has lovely rolled top bath and small free standing shower.

Kitchen area spacious with table to sit around. Crockery and utensils fairly basic and store cupboard limited stock, and mainly what others have left behind. Shops in Hayle very basic and parking difficult but large M&S at the roundabout into Hayle and apparently also Tesco not far. Best to stock up before you arrive.

Few minor things could do with repair / replacement but owners very helpful when reported. Generally the property was well cleaned but the oven could do with proper clean as very smoky when used and racks greasy.

Appeared to have a good choice of DVDs and games for family entertainment on rainy days but I didn't need these.

Although a single storey barn conversion there is an internal step down into the kitchen / main sitting area from the hallway and the step access at the front door may not be suitable for all disabilities.

Happy to recommend and would go back if visiting that area again

Location

From the Owner

We bought the barn as it was such a beautiful building. When you stand in the garden you can often hear nothing but the birds. The location suits us really well. The lane is incredibly quiet but its a short drive to everywhere we need to be.

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

We have a yoga teacher who regularly comes to the property for private yoga sessions (payable separately)

Coast/Beach:

Situated between the 2 coasts we have a huge range of beaches to choose from. The nearest is 4 miles away. Gwithian is 6 miles and features a huge stretch of sand with all usual facilities and surf hire. Prussia cove and praa sands are also easily accessible.

If you are happy to deal with us direct please google owls house and get in touch that way. We dont take credit cards but have run our place for over 10 years, we have hundreds of happy customers and we have never charged them for paying!

Booking Notes:
30% deposit required on booking. Balance due 6 weeks before. If you need to cancel we will refund money paid if we can re-book the week. Otherwise all money paid is non refundable.

Changeover Day:
Friday is changeover day. We can be flexible in the winter season outside the school holidays
