About mrs naomi thompson

We converted the barn about 10 years ago and have lived here ever since. We are a family with 3 kids and dog and a cat.

mrs naomi thompson purchased this cottage in 2001

Why mrs naomi thompson chose Saint Erth

We bought the barn as it was such a beautiful building. When you stand in the garden you can often hear nothing but the birds. The location suits us really well. The lane is incredibly quiet but its a short drive to everywhere we need to be.

Guestbook comments from the owner

- The best place we have ever stayed!

- This is a fantastic property which although seemingly in the middle of nowhere is really close to all the places we wanted to see and all the amenities. Would definitely come back! (Dec 2013)

- we've had a lovely break and I think we all fell in love with Owl's House. Excellent accommodation in a beautiful area. We will be back!

Excellent Accomodation

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful two night stay at Owl House. On arrival we were met by Fiona who was very welcoming, on entering the house we noticed fresh eggs, Cornish fairings and some milk - lovely touch. The house is well equipped and cosy. It is well situated to visit St Ives, Hayle etc.

Absolutely perfect hideaway

  • 5 of 5

We spent two nights at Owl’s House in January when we came down to househunt for a Cornish hideaway of our own. The barn was beautiful and warm and comfortable. It was really well kitted out and gave us lots of inspiration for our house hunting. We will definitely return!

Lovely barn conversion.

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at Owl's House for the weekend of the 6th of Jan. Lovely accommodation with good facilities for children. A little off the beaten track but close to Hayle and IMO some of the best beaches in Cornwall, Hayle, Praa Sands, Gwithian and Porthminster. If you do stay make sure you pop down to Godrevy to see the seals and enjoy coffee and cake at the NT café.

Fantastic house in a peaceful location.

  • 5 of 5

We spent five days at The Owl House over Christmas 2017 and it couldn't have been better. The host was very accommodating and amenable, and a nice Christmas tree had been put up which was a lovely touch.

The house itself is in lovely condition with stylish furniture and it's so spacious. We had our three children with us aged 12, 10 and 3 and we all had plenty of space to chill out, play and relax. The kitchen is very well equipped and there were also teabags, coffee, sugar, washing powder, dishwasher tabs, kitchen roll, cling film and foil all included which was so handy and saved us from stocking up on all those basics.

The location is very rural and you definitely need a car to get around but that also makes it really quiet and peaceful. It's just a short drive to Hayle which has all the general shops you would need and not much further on to all the stunning beaches of Gwithian and Godrevy.

All in all, I can't recommend The Owl House enough and we would love to stay again in the future!

Many thanks again to the hosts.

Delightful, spacious, character barn conversion

  • 5 of 5

Had a most enjoyable stay at Owl House. Monkey the owners delightful dog always gave us a friendly greeting on our return from trips out.The two of us and our dog Holly were spoilt for space inside, whilst outside it has a nice compact garden. It suited our needs beyond expectations and is close to Hayle and it’s fantastic beaches which we made full use of, during our stay. A car is essential to properly explore the surrounding area as Owl house is a little bit isolated if venturing about on foot. Highly recommended for visitors of all ages although some people with sight/ mobility issues, might have problems with the step up/down into the property and the step down/up from the hallway into the kitchen. Hoping to revisit sometime soon, Mr & Mrs R Hill

Lovely retreat

  • 4 of 5

I really enjoyed my stay at Owl House. There was everything we needed there. My problems were the step out of the outer door and the entrance drive. My daughters car bottomed every time we came in and went out of the drive because of the potholes. The step at the door was on two levels and I really had to think carefully about what I was doing when I was coming out to make sure I didn't fall which I did a couple of times but fortunately was caught by Julie or John as they just happened to be in front of me at the time. I would recommend the venue to other people. Would have been grateful for instructions for appliances as we had never used an induction hob before.
